tired of that production style, especially for the vocals. the audio for the YouTube stream didn't sound amazing, kind of the same deal with the CHz stream. so I don't want to try to say too much about the sound until I hear it on CD. "Little Fang" was my favourite but it's also the one that sounds the most like a lot of other indie pop stuff. I've already forgotten a lot of the album and I probably won't listen again until the release on Monday, I'll say more then I guess.
it's really strange hearing such straighforwardly rock drums on an AC-related album, haha
i'm just messing with you hash. playing off your typical critical commentary
yeah I know, my post was meant to be going along with the joke and then it got kind of more serious by the end, I'm not really sure what to make of it myself tbh
there's something abt catchy, daze e and roses... sender and card are totally epic and a perfect opener/closer, but those 3 seem like the best to me otherwise, at this point. Like the TS, Apple and Merc of this album
and then grow and outlaw are like these cool dark jams in the middle..
Just listened to Slasher House, and I am really disappointed. Overall the album was just not mixed very well, everything sounded muddled and awful. Little Fang had the best mixing, way better than the other songs. It sounded so clear and it makes me wonder why they didnt do that to other other songs. Overall, the best song was Strange Colores, but sadly it suffers from the same bad mixing the rest of the album does. To me, it was very hard to make out anything but the drums and guitar, and the vocals were not clear and I couldnt really follow the words. I think if the vocals were clearer and less affected then the album would sound loads better (although better vocals will not help songs sound less boring). I'd write about the other songs but tbh none of them stand out to me in the way the other two do. (though I must say that That It Wont Grow and Duplex Trip were the worst of the bunch)
Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way, was the lack of Angel's vocals. I could hardly hear her! She has a lovely voice, and Im surprised she didnt have a bigger vocal role in the songs. Its meant to be a collaborative piece, so you'd think you'd hear more than just one voice the whole time.
Overall, its just kinda sounds like a bad version Centipede Hz to me.
Or maybe the problem isn't with the record it's with your attitude!
Seriously though, just go with it man, I had plenty of complaints when I first heard the album that were very similar to yours but once you come to terms with how it sounds, you'll care less and less and just start groovin' on the tunes. Unless of course you've heard the bootlegs a bunch and are just let down by the final product.
ya dave is like paul if he never became an asshole and panda is like john if he never became an alcoholic yono lover
yeah back when he was really nice to his first wife

^she sings a decent amount i think, but its often mixed in strangely, like everything is really, and u might miss it... like she sings alot in Daze E, and some in Catchy I think... has parts in Outlaw and Blind Babe. harmonies in 2nd half of Colores
People this isn't MPP, it's not so much headphone music. IMO this (and CHZ for that matter) are best listened to on loud speakers! Don't complain about the mixing! Learn to atmosphere, bros!
Roses is kind of like the centerpiece of this album dang.. It might have alrdy replaced Card as fave for me. kinda makes it funnier that it was the missing one and it's so sweet, maybe the sweetest
Overall, its just kinda sounds like a bad version Centipede Hz to me.

Yea, I can imagine that it will be better on speakers. My speakers arent good and I have a roommate so I cant really hear it on speakers at the moment. I also think (and pray) that it will sound better live too.
