i'm experiencing vicariously through your fortune, but i'm itching for a physical copy.
six... more... day... at... least...
I live in Germany and ordered from a record store in town like a month before the official release date. They always seem to give out your preorder regardless of the release date. They call you as soon as the record arrives in their shop and then you can just collect it at the counter.
And no, unfortunately it doesn't come with lyrics. But the credits say that danny Perez worked on the artwork which I didn't know before

Is the previous freebird unmastered or something? It seems like there's a lot more than just higher bitrate going on in the cd quality version.

Why do I even look at internet forums regarding music? I'm sick of people blaming Chz for their lack of musical depth or at the very least just doesn't resonate with them... Leave it at that! The world doesn't revolve around you cry babies!

rehash was the first thing i thought of when i heard the opening to roses, i'm glad it didn't follow the same progression. love the song though.
I knew I had heard that before! That is uncanny

I probably prefer not knowing the lyrics, because the ones I can make out seem a little cloying. I think i'm just averse to "cute" lyrics.

This album is so good. I'd have a really hard time but I think my faves are Ascender, Your Card, and maybe Roses on the Window? Really nice to finally have that track now too. I think Your Card is the pseudo-prog jam I've been wanting Avey to make for years now.
So many great jams. Seeing a lotta people in the comments of the video saying its basically just Centipede Hz but I don't really get CHz vibes in a lot of it. Definitely feels more open.

how do they make the drums in Daze E sound like its a jet taking off, or like is it just moving around from left to right?

flanger
and I would say Modern Days E is a new favorite of mine. Always reminded me of something that late era Tripping Daisy would write. Ironically the song mentions daisies (days e's), but I doubt that was an intentional reference.
Listening to this album again today I could easily see some of these songs being the product of hectic fever dreams and the kind of restlessness being sick gives you. Overall the album has such a fun vibe, even if a song isn't doing much for me melodically I like getting swept up in the garish brightness of it all.

Yeah I know what u mean. It was weird when he started saying in interviews that he wrote it while he was sick, but I totally pick up on that. I got a rlly bad case of shingles(its like super-chicken pox) that started right when the album freebirded and during those first couple weeks i thought it was the greatest album. I still think its sweet but I do get the kind of feverish vibe that makes it strange to listen to for me . Its an interesting contrast to how fun the songs are though. his songs are like psychic

I don't know what you mean about a jet, but everything about the percussion in that song is on point. Love how it sounds far away sometimes and really close and in your face during the chorus.

I think its safe to say that Dave is on McCartney/Lennon level song-writing, or if you don't like beatles, just like way up there in terms of quality/quantity of clever melodies/lyrics. He tries to hide that fact with weird production i think but even if u dont like it i feel like u cant deny that he does a totally unique thing very well and has a nice blend of tradition vs something new/different as far as pop music goes.. dude is a mad songwriter, maybe infuriatingly so...

it's just doing in its own thing. sounds like the product of some good friends jamming and watching horror films which was pretty much the bane of my high school years. its a great little album.

That's a bold comparison, but I totally agree. Avey is like Lennon and McCartney combined into one. He can be sweet and melodic, a la Paul. Or he can be dissonant and nervy, like John.

So we need another person combining George and Ringo for the band to reunite. Panda plays drums (like Ringo). Is there something in him from Harrison?

the jet sound is the guitar, not the drums. It's from a flanger pedal, as Miles said.
So Hash, what did you think?
