They’ve had debates, Zizek and the mystery man. “The Left” hates him. And I hate politics and ideology so he shall remain unnamed. Can’t get that phrase/idea outta my head tho—how art that is somehow true “removes what is unworthy.” Beautiful.
People who are privy to a little clinical psychology certainly hate him as well. I appreciate you sharing that line, because I think it's awful. 'Worthiness' has no place in serious music discussion, pretty prescriptive thing to say in my opinion.
Trying not to come off as bad faith btw. Just my 2 cents. Love when new album cycles drive lurkers like me to post
Welcome back. How I’m interpreting the phrase: when a band “clicks”—we’re talking about the live experience here—and the audience feels it, knows it, they together manifest something true that didn’t before exist in that space, or something. What is “unworthy”? Anything countering that vibe—a bad attitude, whatever seeks to divide and disconnect or obstruct, whatever isn’t supporting the creation happening in that ephemeral moment. I’d include poor musicianship, bad songwriting, insincerity, etc. here. But I’m talking the psychological experience here, not the music necessarily, though the choice of tones, timbres, lyrics, melodies, timing, energy, all the undefinable elements have something to do with creating this true art too. I mean, this “feeling” or achievement or whatever it is definitely doesn’t happen every time music is conjured. We’re AC fiends for a reason.

Between the super interesting last two tracks on 7s and Noah’s weird guitar tuning work, I can see th next next anco record being crazy unique. Looking forward to what’s next

I wonder consider myself 'privy' to 'a little clinical psychology' being a licensed psychotherapist and all. If we're going to speak abstractly about psychologists then I would say they tend to err on using words like 'hate' with regard to the psychology of other people. I think you're just pulling out generic talking points you've picked up online. If the person in question is guilty of anything from my clinical perspective (which he is), it's namely that this person grossly misappropriates Jung. Even so, that wouldn't render 'hate' in me––actually, contrarily, it invites my curiosity. Maybe I should listen more to this person in question in order to understand their perspective from within itself rather than impose my external judgement upon them... maybe I'll learn something about my own styles of thinking...
With regard to 'worthiness'... it's so challenging to have any conversation on this board that doesn't disintegrate to 'opinions' and 'feelings'. It's like people are afraid of IDEAS, of entering them, seeing how they relate to each other, following them with consideration and earnestness. Like dude, I realize this is 'just a message board' but your dismissiveness while upholding a negating opinion is telling. What is 'worthiness' as a notion? How do you understand its concept in the context of beauty? How might we talk about the play of the sublime in music like AC's?

Shouldn't have said anything. Sorry to piss off the arm chairs. Carry on with the AC discussion.

ive always been really interested in the discussion of the sublime. i've certainly felt "it" countless times with AC's music. If we're gonna dip our toes into it, what do you guys think the most "sublime" parts of their music are? campfire songs hits the hardest for me in that way, in terms of "studio albums," and there's so many live recordings where i catch glimpses of it
and in terms of the nitty-gritty of the aforementioned Smart Guy's take on the sublime, I'm not sure what he could mean by "removing what is unworthy"

^ Hell yeah, I'm hopeful that Domino and AC will do justice to this most sacred of reissues given how solid all the other ones have been so far (Sung Tongs/Feels in particular)
Did he say anything about it still being a full remaster?

He made it sound like it’s a remaster- he said he’s been working on it. Very exciting.
I hope that bodes well for him resurrecting a song from the album for his tour this spring. The song spirit theyre gone would be beautiful with his new stuff

He also answered "Yes" in his recent AMA when someone asked about those songs live. I think it's a safe bet for his solo shows but would be more excited about one of those songs resurfacing in a full band setting.

Also considering he played La Rapet on that Folk Medicine Zoom concert.

I'll see what I can do! I haven't really listened to Cindy Lee at all, though I've always heard great things, and I loved the band Women. From what I've heard I'm sure it will be up my alley. Do you think I should immerse myself in Cindy material before the show or wait to be introduced in a live setting?

For sure, Diamond Jubilee is my most anticipated album besides for TS2 as well, maybe even surpassing it. Supposed to be a double album. I know they're sitting on a ton of really good songs.
I also saw them open for Preoccs last year too and really enjoyed the set. I uploaded the boot to the Women/Cindy Lee thread in the music forum.
Since it'll be mostly new material, Hellomark, I wouldn't worry too much about familiarizing yourself. If anything, listen to the album What's Tonight to Eternity.
Definitely check out "I Don't Want to Fall In Love Again" which Fovrodi posted to get you in the mood.

Have to say goodbye to my sweet wonderful dog today. I was driving and listening to doggy while absolutely sobbing earlier. Thankful for this beautiful song and band today more than ever.

thinking about how it's kind of wild covered in frogs never got recorded. it comes across as a highlight of both the original sung tongs shows and the 2018 sung tongs tour, such great energy. did the band ever say why it was never recorded?

kind of comforting to remind ourselves that they've been making head-scratching decisions in the studio since the early days. if sung tongs had covered in frogs sleeping factory and happy singing band it would have been a monster of a record, but i would have been fine with those songs even just ending up on an ep or as b sides or something
