I keep coming back to Remember Mayan. I find it really soothing? What do y’all suppose it’s about?

Lol I think it's pretty straight forward

Ouch ok! I found it pretty abstract. Different minds I guess. :?

Straight forward!? What’s it all about Clearwaters? I feel ya scrapofsassafras... my fav of the record and no idea what he’s getting at.

Been on my mind for a while but strikes me as Tirzah-like at times, especially Eyes on Eyes.

I've been avoiding listening to the new version of Enjoy the Change like the plague. Though i like Cows I've been having a tough time reconciling how much I loved the approach he used on his previous tours + show at the mothlight (the stripped-down approach of using just electric guitar, drum-pad and synth/sampler) with how the album turned out. For some reason also, even though I love his and AC's acoustic work, love Buoys as well, the decision to switch to acoustic guitar for the album versions of many of these songs was not a welcome change for me. However I just peeped the new version of Enjoy the Change finally and I liked it! Only (minor) complaint at this point is I prefer some of the older lyrics. I thought the new version would bastardize the old version but it doesn't at all. I really hope the studio version doesn't include acoustic guitar lol. I know it's a weird gripe, but I feel like the dark atmosphere around a lot of these songs was removed/lifted via that change from his tour setup to the studio setup he used.

He said he wanted Midnight Special to be on a darker release (than Cows) and there's also word that he's working on putting an EP together. I think Enjoy the Change will be on there and will sound satisfyingly dark.

Anyone notice the connection between the lyrics "What is is-is" and "Eye's on eye's"? It bridges the end of Goodside into the next song.

I didnt but i did notice "i can see them smiling" in remember mayan and remembered the same lyric from heather in hospital. I was having trouble remembering enough of HIH to make out what song it was till just now

now time's passed I can honestly say I don't really like KC Yours, but the rest of the album is excellent. Eyes on Eyes and Taken Boy particularly. And Chilly Blue! so good

derriere was already a beautiful song but for some reason he decided to make it about robots...

yeah derriere chorus is the only thing lost for me in kc yours, it flows better and sounds better than robot bus stop. the only song i dislike is taken boy, i much prefer the mothlight rendition but i can see why maybe he wanted a slower song before the midtempo mayan.

i do think for me the production on KC reminded me of a similar issue that slasher flicks had with Your Card and The Outlaw, where it's just somehow muffled and super slick at the same time - it just feels weird and even as someone who is just by nature and taste a huge anco fanboy, i never really liked it

I still listen to Goodside almost every day. It's my favourite song of the year and is almost certainly one of my top 10 AC-related songs ever made. Something about the contrast between that unapologetically slapping beat and that beautiful and crisp guitar tune just gets me going. I find it hard to listen to the song without air strumming along.

Agreed! Goodside and HORS_ are easily some of my top tracks of the year. When that guitar hits midway through Goodside...MAN!

Surprised that I love Goodside (esp as an opening track) considering I wasn't immediately won over by Me and the Bubble at Mothlight and had doubts about it opening the album. How wrong I was!

The kazoo in eyes on eyes is quite exquisite i must say

In lemonade when avey said "i want too many clothes" i felt that

I hear mumbling & gibberish in the background of EOE from 1:12 till about 2:30 all i can make out is the frirst thing "close the window, [somethingsomething] for my eyes"

Had a dream i heard a french cover of kc yours

"Im driving in a snowy race" from lemonade. Maybe talking about rally racing? I thought it was "snowy rain" but i like that line a lot either way

Maybe im just high but our little chapter be hittin

"Feels like im wearing a kitty" does he even have a kiitty?

Tipped in hugs :metal i think this is my favorite cows song :negative:

Dog says goodbye :boo:

Comic up on the albums anniversary.. I think it is weirdly a Spring album even tho it has some Fall-ish energy too..

And yeah shoutout to Tipped/Dog single. With Birds EP this is such a sweet collection of songs for Avey..

Our Little Chapter is the one I come back to more than anything. And Hors and Eyes. Eyes took a while to grow but oh man that track. The live recording of it feels pretty loose in a way buts its rad. Kinda prefer the live Mayan on the KC EP, but both are sick.

Dead on! I absolutely loved the OG chorus of KC

“Old man keep up your fight and old man go take a hike and old man you you know you won’t ever feel right old man you don’t know where you’re going!
Your derrière your derrière in the frosted air”

I’m sure it was one of those things were he just whipped it up for the tour shows but to me it was so powerful!!
Regardless I still love and listen to this album a lot! I love mixing it with PBs homie EP

I love the vibe of this track. Would love to see a AC album in this style. It makes me think about the "Crystal Palace" Avey mentioned for Feels.

Cows is such a rainy album imo. It was very gray and humid the day it came out in my neck of the woods and listening to it for the first time in that environ was perfect
