Going to Chicago with a long-time friend of mine and we're both dragging my husband who isn't a fan but is happy to cart us gals around. He's being a good sport about it eventho he'll probably be scowling the entire time. Hoping an AC-epiphany will happen. Down for pre/post drinks if anyone wants to meet up with us.

Tonight's show in Atl was otherworldly. The encore was next level bonkers and it was so, so magical. We all sang Happy Birthday to Noah and they brought out a cake for him!

I've lurked for a long time but never bothered to make an account. I recorded the ATL set on my phone, but I'm not sure how to go about posting it here for you guys to hear. I started a minute or so into the set cause I spaced on hitting record. Probably has a bit of extra sounds here and there cause of people passing my seat to get drinks n all that, but it sounds pretty good otherwise, though it is recorded on a phone.

Unless you know how to split or EQ what you got, just upload the raw file of what you have to mega.nz and link it.

I don't, unfortunately. Here's the raw shiz. It was a great set, I hope it holds up in this recording.

Would be weird if it became a solo song tho, noah's voice fits the song very well.
Great song

I get the feeling Buoys is influencing Dave a lot with the nautical theme of it. Between that and retouring Sung Tongs maybe it made him want to make more songs in that vein?

Great show in Atlanta! Really one of the greatest live performances I think I'll ever see in my life, I couldn't stop grinning.

the show as amazing and i'd never thought id ever see tuvin or dont believe the pilot live ever...so that was awesome. whaddit i done was once again awe inspiring, and it seems they played a much less strummy version of visiting friends (and it seemed kind of shorter too...). an auditorium like that seemd kind of weird as a choice of venue..and arguably the weirdest part of the show to me is that it seemed like there were three people in that whole venue that knew who animal collective were, much less wat sung tongs was. the guy sitting next to me thought they were gonna play songs from tang reef becausse that was the first thing that came up when he googled.

yeah right?? i felt that vibe too, i assume tomorrow's crowd might be the more hardcore fans as that was the first on sale. and yeah, tuvin seemed longer than visiting friends!

Sounded like a similar scene in Atl. There were empty seats in the front row and people were constantly getting up to get drinks. A couple next to me (in the second row) NEVER stopped texting and chattering and finally got up and left 20 minutes in. I was flabbergasted, thinking this niche of a performance would likely only attract diehards.
On another note, I am super bummed they are only playing seated venues. While it makes sense for the majority of the album and there is certainly an upgrade in sound quality, nothing would have topped dancing to half of these songs.

luckily, i don't believe the vic in chicago will have seats down. seems to be just their normal GA setup (though a seated balcony if people want to chill up there).

I think Dud is spot on- or at least a I hope he is- because I thought the crowd at Town Hall last night was pretty out of it. People applauding when songs weren’t over, not super responsive, barely moving for We Tigers. The atmosphere was definitely one of quiet, respectful listening, which I get with the acoustic set. I hope the second show tonight has more love and feels in it. That said, Noah and Dave sounded beautiful together. Such on point harmonizing and it reminded me how tight they are after all these years together. The encore was great... a few surprise tunes for me, too, since I hadn’t stayed current here to see what they were playing.
Not sure if they’ll do it again tonight but a local charity had a raffle out front for a bucketload of vinyl. Cash only. At least one signed copy (Strawberry Jam). I was hoping someone from CA won it because it surely wasn’t me!

tbh - for me, anyways i think they shouldve played a regular venue they would play like irving or t5, sound might be subpar but sung tongs is an album you scream back and move too. its two guys with guitars playing there heart ot and the ppl at last nights show just looked bug eyed at them and even laughed in disbelief at some portions. almost felt like i was at an 03 show.

^lol that was great. He fooled me for a sec. That was a fucking perfect show, definitely a better and clearly more practiced performance than last years in NYC. So glad I held off on listening to the recordings from the past couple days, Sea of Light is a fantastic song and really fit perfectly with the rest of the set. How lucky are we that these two angel voiced men, Dave Portner and Noah Lennox found each other all those years ago and decided to sing together? So beautiful. Bless.

was anyone here on the balcony at the DC show? I got the front center balcony seat and felt Extra Blessed but kinda would have liked to be on the floor once dave got everyone to stand up lol. the guy behind me had never listened to AC before and I’m happy/envious this got to be his first experience listening to sung tongs.
also laraaji was amazing I wish I could’ve gotten a closer look at his setup… I haven’t heard mallets on autoharp before and that was unreal

Tuvin if they’re doing the same set as they did in Europe (encore order changes obvs, but I think core set has been the same)
