Woke up humming the melody of Flight. The lyrics on that one are some of his most endearing. My new Comfy in Nautica
Part of the Math is the only song I’m experiencing demoitis. It was my favorite of the live set, mostly because his of raw vocals. The studio version is a little toned down in comparison

Am I the only one getting 90's "big beat" vibes from most of these tracks? Specifically the Chemical Brothers more poppy, song oriented stuff.
Yea, I hear it and that’s why I’m loving it

the teasers are so much louder than this rip. can't wait to get higher quality to listen to.

I'm wondering about the thought process behind releasing these songs as an EP. I feel like each of these songs stand on their own and don't really rely as much on sequencing or narrative in the same way an album would, maybe that was intentional. I've only listened to it once tho so this also just my very early impression
Im also thinking about how he said that PP/TB/GR felt like a trilogy and I feel like the EP format helps separate this from that a bit. Since he said a while back that he had enough material for 2 EPs, it would be really interesting if he just did exactly that and didn't release any full length album this time around. Still too early too tell and I'm already super stoked to get this release plus a tour, but def curious to see if he's got any surprises in store for us

On the other side, much as I love the animal mineral vegetable section of Part of the Math, I don't think there's any reason for four combined minutes of intro and outro. I'm OK with not repeating the best section into the ground but I'm not sure how long I'll find the rest of the track interesting enough to bother with. The beat and 'that noise' remind me of something really 90s, I can't think what, but it makes me slightly uncomfortable, like my dad enthusiastically grinding up against an estranged aunt at a family Christmas party and you're like fuck is that my real mom?
For the moment, I could listen to the vinyl only once and I remember having heard a kind of Acid sound (the noise you talked about?) with some 90's californian pop/rock... Is it Part of the Math? It made me think about that

I do think the bass on this rip is way off. This is what I was afraid of and dont understand about the vinyl only thing - the quality control is gone for people experiencing it for the first time. Whatever the case may be with that, I do hope a better rip surfaces very soon...

EDIT: no need for a pm, the soulseek post was true. I spot two different rips tho, I wonder which one is "better?"

yeah curious to see how the visuals will be on this tour. presumably they will be totally different given the "plays bouy" thing

Yea this kind of pisses me off. I understand the reasoning for wanting a vinyl only release but there will be a flood of awful rips floating around which affects those of us who were not able to buy the record. Why not just say "hey guys I intended this album to be listened to without headphones in a large space but if you can't that's cool".
Who will be the hero we need to deliver the perfect rip???!?!

bake each of your neighbors a batch of cookies, give the cookies to them in gift bags, and ask them to excuse the noise for ~30 minutes.

I'm in the boat with the rest of you who have shipping notifications saying Tuesday 1/16. It's weird because it says the package is en route to NH, but not expected until Tuesday. Pretty sure I could drive the Philly and back 5 times by then.
Totally determined to wait it out though, so that I can hear it on my favorite speakers & spin it on my turntable as intended.
That said, the wait is killing me and I'm questioning my virtuousness about every 15 minutes. It's like prom night all over again... but I digress...
The point: your reviews and reactions are totally getting me through the wait. I love that everybody has different favorites - that says a lot about the depth of the recording, even if it is a quickie at 30 minutes. Also psyched for the samples transitions. Two of PB's specialties (always my favorite part of his live shows) and it sounds like he's working it. Thanks for the hors d'oeuvres to the main course.

I caved last night and listened to it first on some nice headphones and then thru speakers. It's definitely a speaker record. I think I can wait for my copy now though. I just couldn't help myself yesterday, was off work and just losing it. But yeah exact same thing with me regarding shipping, the record is in Chicago, supposedly in transit to my place but it's not estimated to arrive till Tuesday. But it sort of seems like it could come tomorrow. Show of hands, who actually has the record so far?

i know the beat isnt techno at all, but like it feels like one of the fastest, most jungle-esque beat ive heard from AC music, and they were doing full on techno versions of Loch Raven and the Bees on tour, and like wasn't there another one, but ya i'd love to see a record from them that has a lot of fast beats that still have melodic harmonies like Sunset. but then also ambient stretches as well, like the transitions here... throw in the soulful, guitar-centric vibes that Avey's peeping rn and you'd have a fucking awesome record.

Sup y'all. I "BlasterMastered" a rip of these tunes to get them louder throughout and clearer in the upper mid-range. Nothing obtrusive was done to the sound, just a bit of boosting and eq work so the songs are more consistent with what a digital release might sound like.
PM me if you're interested. I've also included 'radio edits' of each song if you're in more of a get'in'get'out listening mood.

has anyone ever dealt with trying to get another copy of a record if it’s damaged from domino? my record came in and it has a pretty mean scratch on it
it doesn’t make it skip or anything, but i want a new one cuz the scratch stresses me out

these rip differences remind me of how The Smashing Pumpkin's record Machina II had 5 pretty distinct versions online, and the rip that ended up making the album sound the best was one that was accidentally ripped several RPM faster than it was meant to be. all about preferences

slightly downpitch lower harmony that shows up when he says 'even when it's painted on/ it's a big show'
kills me and reminds me of the first verse of Modern Daze E. liek how he alternated between a single vocal line, a double one, and then a double one that has the down-pitching in that.
this might be his best singing?
