really love the sound on this. strikes me as incredibly sad, ay but for some reason i get the feeling its my personal shit influencing how i percieve it. i think the lyrics might be some of my fav stuff anyone in the band has done. really powerful stuff while also being semi-batshit, its a good mix

I can't wait to hear this. All these descriptions make it sound like exactly what I was hoping for.

Someone sent me a dropbox link, but it's been taken down due to reaching a download limit. Is that the main link everyone's been getting?

first thing i did this morning was listen to Sunset like 3 times in a row. fucking amazing how that song really is pretty much just drum + bass + vocals without any other major synthy/harmonic/rhythm parts
melancholy but kinda happy too.. that and the chorus of Nod are my favorite moments so far, they suddenly make me feel like im a manga character dealing with intense shoji drama in high school (??) but still see the beauty in life

the "open your eyes" part of Part of the Math sounds like it is from Vanilla Sky to me. Are you guys sure it is from Zelda?

apparently he told a person after a show who posted on here i think that Nintendo said no so he recorded his daughter saying it. and ya i guess it doesnt sound like zelda as much anymore. who knows tho that could be apocryphal.
maybe he found another movie/voice over that has a woman saying that? who would it be in vanilla sky

It's his daughter and yeah he said he couldn't clear the Zelda sample. But ya it sounds real Vanilla Sky/Open Your Eyes too

On the other side, much as I love the animal mineral vegetable section of Part of the Math, I don't think there's any reason for four combined minutes of intro and outro. I'm OK with not repeating the best section into the ground but I'm not sure how long I'll find the rest of the track interesting enough to bother with. The beat and 'that noise' remind me of something really 90s, I can't think what, but it makes me slightly uncomfortable, like my dad enthusiastically grinding up against an estranged aunt at a family Christmas party and you're like fuck is that my real mom?
on the other hand speaking of potm, i love how he doesnt rush any of these songs into properly starting or ending, esp with Sunset, but i agree with you that the buildup is a bit much for me. like it is dope he gets that guitar part to be the whole center of the song, but idk, like i need to use that part to focus on my chakra or something. honestly been kinda skipping part of the math after my first few listens. this is def gonna be amazing/considerably better on my record player.

^i didnt think he could but he pretty much makes that do doo line work i guess. i guess..
also, listening the morning after, i can definitely hear more how this will sound so much better on the record or from a pro rip... especially part of the math. like we essentially wont know how mediocre this rip is until we get our shipment/better one fingers crossed shipping comes through today

I just ordered from Rough Trade. Can't wait to compare the vinyl to this rip.

to me, sunset sounds the thinnest, both on my car stereo and bluetooth speaker. hoping that's the vinyl rip.
i had similar feelings to stan on the intro/outro lengths, but then i thought about how i've missed the builds from live to AC studio stuff, so i appreciate getting it there. sets a cool mood.
this stuff is gonna rip live. hope he does all 5 songs at each show.

I was so used to the intro to PotM from the boots it seems normal to be honest. I'm at work and can't really play music, but I did listen to Flight and PotM at minimal volume and love the harmonies I'm hearing. Can't wait to leave work so I can blast this.

I wish the intros and outros were longer. I’d listen to a 12” length version of the sound from POTM. Never heard Noah sound this dirty before. Hell yeah

Yeah intros/outros are sick. I really liked the atmospheric sounds in the outro of Flight especially

my itunes plays this new ep straight into the mr. noah ep, and it's cool how to hear how the song mr. noah fits into the distorted stuff going on in this new one.

We really need to come up with a solution for the pages and pages of people asking for crunching every single time something is released. I get that people want to hear the EP, I really do but when you have to sift through pages of people asking for stuff it gets a little ridiculous.

Am I the only one getting 90's "big beat" vibes from most of these tracks? Specifically the Chemical Brothers more poppy, song oriented stuff.
