hahaha the piano part in this song is the best thing that ever happened...

this album is really amazing.. im so tired of hearing all the comparisons to what they did in the past

this album is its own world...

and like avey said.. "we have our own sound, and we understand that it's for some people and not others."

this song is amazing. but as good as it is, someone posted this in the painting with thread, and it's truly a different experience. couldn't stop listening to this version, it's got some kinda extra space to breathe, i love it. kinda trancey

The verse is so gut wrenching, but it only happens once so it's hard to miss! When panda first sings On delay/andale Avey's melody is actually really sad. The chord changes are wicked too and then of course the piano comes in right after it...

Edit: I'm talking about the "two of us together" part

Yeaaaaaah. That's the part I try to cling to, but it keeps squeezing through my fingies. It ends way before I'm ready for it to. "My steps will follow" It's so nice.

that part is gold. like i think about how it captures the energy and mood of a longer verse or bridge from a song like alvin row, or banshee beat so susinctly. the restraint in the song writing on this jammer is amazing. its literally perfectly composed. Same with bagels. the way avey and panda harmonize with each other on that song is equally chill inducing for me, i.e. the change in avey's voice at "wish we could walk alone..."

really feel like these are perfect songs.

I listen to this and feel that on any other album it would be like eight or nine minutes long, an absolute epic, and yet they still manage to convey that scale and scope in less than three. It's pretty remarkable, but I actually wish I did have three times as much of it, too!

Possibly the best song on the album. I love how the song structure isnt verse chorus blah blah blah. Its more like part part part. Pretty much no repitition and yet it feels complete. And it feels waaaaay longer than 3.5 minutes. Its kinda like a salvia trip. Extremely short but its so novel that it feels like an eternity. I also like to think thos song is about deja vu. How deja vu seems to give you a feeling of forsight and is kinda unsettling. And when you have deja vu your seeing it doubly clear cuz you had already been there. On delay just gives me this "I've been here before but I don't know what's next" feeling.

The way it builds anticipation in the beginning it seems like your accelerating toward a state of pure bliss uncontrolably but it's also filled with nervousness because of how quickly it's coming on and because your not exactly sure what to expect. Then you get to the "it was niiiiice" part and your not nervous anymore because you've reached total bliss. Then at the end it's like your looking back on your experience and realizing how incredible and seemingly impossible it was.

Oh man this pretty much nails what I love about this song

also definitely agree w you and Stan that the song feels much longer than it really is. Middle section is like a super condensed journey

Guys -
what the heck does
'the sweet of the double'
mean? (in on delay lyrics)

i've been trying to figure it out for weeks and i'm really not sure...
all i do know is this is one of my favorite arrangements of words i've ever read/heard. the way it sounds in my head gives off a feeling i'm still trying to pinpoint.
also- i've never felt this way about an arrangement of words before, and maybe it's because it has the word sweet in it (although i really don't think it's the reason) but i actually taste this sentence. it has a flavor.

i think it might be a baseball reference, since other parts of the song reference camden yards, etc. a double would be a potential outcome of an at bat in baseball that would, indeed, be pretty "sweet".

haven't looked at the lyrics much but I took it as a lover's delight...the delay is your partner. but you are one entity or one mind/soul, the delay is an aesthetic illusion or play. the sweet double are lovers.

Is there a second meaning beyond the double/delay/echo? Does it need one? It's a very Avey wording.
