^Just read that this morning before I left for work. I think it's funny that Avey went on a Pavement fan site just like we go on CA. What he said about the disconnect between the internet and real life is totally true though.

That being said, I have also managed to meet a lot of cool, like-minded people on CA.

It's from BBC Radio 1 - Breezeblock Session 2004-04-26, which is one of my favorite performances of theirs. Make sure to listen to the full show where sleeper factory transitions into doggy. Doggy is so clear and imo even more emotional than the campfire songs version:

I just heard animal collective's version of "Welt Am Draht" and damn why did it take me 3 years to hear that??? Gotta be Deaks on the vocals, right? Did he do the whole thing?
(On that note, wasn't he the one that remixed Miranda a while back? I guess maybe now I know what he was doing instead of working on the album..)

Just some random thoughts on Last Night at the Jetty:

One of my favorite moments on Tomboy is in Jetty when PB sings "Who could say we're not just as we were? / No one could deny, my, my" and then later "Who could I say I'm not just as I was? / No one could deny, my, my." I love the chord change right there (it's the same for both sets of lines), where it goes from Dm to F7 right as PB sings the word "who," and then again as he sings "No one." It's cool because the F7 chord makes it sound to me like PB actually doesn't 100% believe that things are the same now as they were in the past, but he's giving himself a false sense of reassurance by saying, who could deny that things are good now? Who's to say we're not having as good a time right now as we did in the past?

The F7 chord leaves those lines ambiguous. And it helps represent the mixed emotions that PB is conveying.

That's of course just my interpretation and not necessarily correct, just the way I hear the song. What do you guys think?

Sleeper Factory into Doggy is seriously one of their best transitions even though it's so simple.

Great live session.

I'd feel bad bumping the Deakin thread without much news to offer but I spoke to Josh at the recent LA/AC/DJ set and he said that he hadn't had the chance to work on the Africa project lately because of some personal issues. He seemed to be in good spirits though and put Saida and I on the guestlist for the night which was awesome and sweet of him.

This is cool. It sorta "reconstructs" the song.

...I'm not sure who "Sophie" is though...

I think it sounds really sick like this:

ha very cool guys! my theory was pretty superficial, just some popping and short water sounds that are vaguely shared by both. myles, your street flash edit sounds like that one christmas song and sounds really cool when the screams kick in.

poor deak has really been taking his time with this album and gotten so much guff about the africa thing that he's probably terrified to release anything. also that pic looks like something you would buy in skymall, victor.

Jesus, Noah wasn't kidding when he said Dave's songs sound like weird Lindsey Buckingham songs.
