i wish they had done a liiiiiittle bit more with the transitions between sides on the strawberry jam vinyl... providing a clean sustained end for winter wonder land instead of simply fading it out when the beginning of cuckoo cuckoo comes in would've been great. or they could've just made it a single lp. i mean it's only 43 minutes. just because the first side would've been slightly over the recommended 22, the quality still would've been plenty good for my liking

unnecessary double LPs piss me off. i dont want to flip the record so often, i wanna sit and vibe. Why does time skiffs have to be double LP bruh

anyone ever got a like 180 mg or whatever double-LP and a single LP SHIT quality vinyl of the same album and actually test difference?

cuz ya I simultaneously dont much mind splitting an album into 4 subdivisions and flipping extra while also kinda thinking things could sound fine on a single ykno

this is why i never really got into collecting vinyl. which i know means i'm not a real music fan.

i just want to let an album run and vibe out uninterrupted. and we have the technology to do that.

Double LPs are awesome when they're done right... It's like having four mini-albums or suites with their own things going on... Gives the songs different contexts too when the *whoosh* of the run-out groove comes on after one you're not used to hearing that after. Having to flip between Lion in a Coma and No More Runnin felt strangely profound to me the other week, for example. Feels is another good double-decker. AC usually does vinyl really right, which makes the occasional slip-up or compromise that much more glaring, but thankfully they're pretty few and far between (I think Spirit also had some transition issues if I recall correctly... Something about Everyone Whistling and La Rapet being broken up awkwardly)

I think strawberry jam is the only glaring one where being split across four sides is a little detrimental. TS may suffer a little for the same reason but really there are worse problems in the world. And hopefully to make up for it it'll just sound incredibly fucking massive

oh damn, good question. someone compare that recent 2xlp discreet music with the bootleg color single one and get back to us

I Think I Can, Tikwid and Honeycomb all deserved to make the album

2/3 agree. Tikwid betwixt Loch Raven and Turn into Something. Honeycomb betwixt Monkey Riches and Mercury Man. I Think I Can I just get not really fitting on anything but FBK. Can see it being similar to Water Curses where they couldn't land on the right version until doing a pass at recording it after the main sessions

Honeycomb is probably my third fav CHz era track. Love that song.

honeycomb didn't really do it for me at the time, and i still never put it on now, but when i do i usually enjoy it. the chz era was difficult to get through, tbh. it sounded like something was wrong with the band, though in retrospect it was probably me. eventually i came around, but boy was it not what i needed then

i guess the cover is about the best you can expect for a title like that

like what else could they have done really, a centipede on a radio instead of a mouth? that would be too obvious though

Centipede hz cover looks like a Yu-Gi-Oh card

I think I like the CHZ cover and would have been okay with the sparser Abbey Portner version without Avey revising it too, but Avey's version reminds me of the ODDSAC cover/graphic design and the ODDSAC cover/art OWNS

But on the note of cover art

The decision to limit all of their recent merch to JUST THE ALBUM ART ON A SHIRT

in the same vein as Jam's point

the decision to use that garbage Sandbag LTD merch company that strung me along for months about my MPP shirt, lying about shipping it and waiting months to refund me.

i was so excited to finally get that shirt man, damn.

if they had mixed Chz to sound like the original artwork, then the album and the artwork would have been A+

Still love chz, but the instrumentation to me just begs to be drier

Imagine OG chz cover without the mouth- just the maroon background with that spaceship font and a the rotting image of the astronaut

This is an incredible comparison, and makes me love the official artwork more lol. Now thinking I really want to hear an album that sounds like a back-of-Pokémon-card-style cover… from AC or maybe oneohtrix… some 95 era aphex revamped with a little Tuss sensibilities would scream Pokémon cover……..

I'm an Ark/Feels artwork kinda guy. Not into the CHz Microsoft Paint style thing at all.

Still dig the album though!

I've always wished the studio Mountain Game was more in line with what Avey was playing structurally on the DT 2011 tour. If I'm not mistaken, it was recorded prior to the tour but the live version had extra sections that make it all so much more dynamic and a little less "one note" than the studio version does by comparison. It doesn't help that they repeat that opening vocal so much before diving into the rest of the song either but maybe that's just me. Still an enjoyable track but I feel it could've been taken to a whole new level is all!

big mistake removing the vocals from Foetus No-Man

and I guess reversing that whole album too

Agree 100% about Mountain Game, sound science. The main thing the studio version has going for it are the panda vocals, which are great. But yeah the version from the solo tour just sounds way more developed, and has better lyrics!

replacing the harp with piano in the first part of studio safer.. i know they said it didn’t work with the og sample, but it changes the vibe with the diff timbre.. i’d be down for more of the sea monster noises to start like the live versions too

Aren't the sea monster noises just Deakin under a blanket, or is that later in the song

i think deaks is doing that in the 2nd part moreso… i was speaking more of like the shrieking/tearing noises that start the live versions.. you can see geo doing his thing in the malta vid
