Hm, good chance I saw your face at the concert.
I did really enjoy the opening act, but I will admit I expected it to be much shorter. I saw their Moogfest set, so I basically expected a 10-15 minute set that leads into Animal Collective playing their music. Instead, AC didn't go on until 9 PM or so. Was it worth it? Yeah, but I did not expect it to be 45 minutes.

Haha most likely. I was the Hawaiian-T dude standing close to the blockade chain-smoking all my friends rollies. But huh, now that you say it, I didn't realize the opener lasted that long. That is a little uncouth, but I'm stoked to hear their contributions to the upcoming Avey album though.

Can anyone confirm Avey saying "experrriiimmentallll guittttarrrrr" over and over at some point at any of these shows? Was I just really high?

Honestly, this version of Daily Routine is like the pre-MPP shows, but more powerful. The wonky descending synth is so fucking cool, you know the bit I mean, and the second half is Vishnu tier.

Just sent an email to Madison Theater for permission to record the show on July 30th. If I get permission I will record the show. Totally pumped and can't wait to see them again! Maybe this time we might stick around after the show to talk to the guys, usually we leave because there are so many who want to meet them and I don't want to take up too much of their time.

Just got a response.
Does anyone know how I could contact the band to get permission for my Zoom? I feel like most of the time the venue checks for me but doesn't seem like this will be the case this time.

Typically this is up to the band and in that case they usually do not allow recording devices of any kind par a cell phone.
Thank you

Pretty much cool with anything you want to do from the audience as long as it doesn't mess with us directly.

Holy crap. I expected some sort of slurred language and it's just interpreted as "experimental guitar" but that's definitely exactly what he's saying.

I was cringing so hard at that point in the show I almost folded into myself.

It looks like Aaron Dilloway will be opening for them at the Covington show. I was curious who it would be since it's sandwiched between the two dates with Fleet Foxes

Excited for Covington tonight! Gonna bring my zoom and try to record the show! The venue said they didn't give permission and its up to the band so I am going to just send them the link to the archive.org post where they say its cool to record as long as it doesn't interfere with the show.

Both the venue and the band were cool with me recording the Charleston show. The house engineer even let me set up on the table next to the soundboard. Good luck!

7/30/2017 Covington, KY- Madison Theater
Setlist:
Hocus pocus
Kinda bonkers
Taste
The other one (Grateful Dead tease)
Water curses
Floridada
Kids on holiday
Sweet road
Bees
Pride and fight
Lying in the grass
Summertime clothes
Encore:
Peacemaker
Summing the wretch
Guys eyes
I got it all recorded on my Zoom. It was probably my favorite set of this era of the band. My favorite moments were pride and fight and kids on holiday. Ending the set with erections/penises was great as well.

That set was so good. I'm really glad I got to see Pride and Fight since they started playing it after the last two times I saw them on this tour
I think that's just the outro Avey's doing for Peacemaker

This ruled so much. It was cool when they did it with Golden Gal but it was so much satisfying to do it with Summertime Clothes

Yes this show was excellent! Loved their amazing ambient trolling during summertime clothes, Sweet Road with so intense and this version of Taste was really nice. They had some great of moments of going from zero to 100 in terms of intensity. I'm sad Panda did not really have any solo songs or songs where he took the lead - it was an Avey heavy set (which is fine).
Backdrifter - Drpanda and I were standing basically right behind you lol.

Just dropped $55 for a day pass to see them at Pygmalion even tho I don't know any of the other artists playing that day. I was on the fence cuz I got to see them twice last year, but all of their shows lately have been killer and I rly want to hear the new reworks. I'll lose my shit if they play Pride n Fight

They didn't play the new song "Experimental Guitar?"
