water curses live is really cool but I'm a bit sad avey changed the melody, presumably to make it easier to sing. the octave jumps in the "I don't think you know exactly what you're doing" is sooo good in the studio version, so the smaller (I think they're fifths?) jumps live just sound really flat and lame. and he's also changed the melody of the "when you wake up from your snoozin" verse too but I can't quite pin that one down

he's just singing the 'when you wake up from your snoozin' verses at a way higher pitch isn't it? i agree, but i love the new version of the song anyway, it's awesome to finally hear it live!

Eric Copeland Live at The Egyptian Room 10-05-2016 Indianapolis, IN
Have the dues announced any more DJ sets for the last month of tour?
I know they are on a nice break right now but I am going to set myself up for disappointment by hoping for some kind of Halloween show... like in 2014 when Slasher Flicks announced their sweet Halloween Party in LA like 3 weeks before Halloween.
I'm a little late to the party but thank you so effin much to backdrifter/braintwins for recording both the Indy and Chicago shows. I live in MI and I made the trip to both of those shows (as well as Royal Oak), so its awesome to be able to have a permanent recording of my first (Chicago) and third (Indy) times seeing my favorite band perform. Also the quality is insane. Thanks again !!!
Side note: thanks also for the EC recording, really loved the energy/noise of his set and glad to have a recording of it.

No problem! It's a pleasure! I was so happy to get boots from strawberry jam/pre-MPP in college and always told myself if I could afford equipment and shows in the future that I would try to document them to pay it forward. Glad I can do that now! I love this band live so much!
My biggest dream for the band would to release more live soundboard stuff possibly in the same way phish and other notable live bands do with huge online database of shows available to stream/purchase. But that could be too costly to create/maintain to turn them a profit. I would pay so much money to have a couch tour though. It was so cool to do that with the Dead these last couple summers.
This board is awesome though and I am so glad that we have it so that we can continue to document the band and the boots we do have.

Jimmy Mack is a huge favorite of mine! So weird that they chose to cover it, so great that they did.
I love the 10/15/16 Egyptian Room performance of it so much.

You guys think the AC will continue to tour through 2017? Abby hinted at more dates next year but nothing announced yet. If they do another full year of PW-era shows we might not get another AC album until 2019

if they do tour more next year I hope they add Deakin back and use it to test out new material like they have in the past

I think that is gonna be the case even if the tour is over next month . I figure by the end of 2017 we will get a couple solo albums and 2018 will be spent touring for those and maybe starting to write for the 2019 AC album.

So apparently they have been recording the shows. I can't remember if it was a print or video interview but Geo discussed it and also consulting with Ian Mackaye of Fugazi about it. Fugazi recorded a large percentage of their own shows and had a program where you could request tapes of certain shows now they have a website that hosts all the shows. If there's one dude in all of music who can figure out a cost effective way to pull that off its Ian. The live recordings AC released in May to support the lgbqt org in NC are a product of the back catalogue of recordings they've done. I figure they needed to wait a lil while after the pressing of live at 930 and the release of painting with to open up the archive to the public. But at some point they'll have something similar.
These past few shows have me stoked to see them in Richmond. I had tix to both the 930 shows earlier this year and opted out of going night two because I wasn't digging it but lo and behold they just keep working the music and goddamn if these shows haven't been top notch ac at most creative. Richmond will be my 13th show since '07 and I was getting worried I'd grow out of loving them the way I used to. Doesn't seem like it also Abby's stage design seems to get better and better as the shows progress too. At least from the YouTube videos I've seen.

I hope so! The multitrack issue still stands though. It is so time consuming (let alone expensive) to master every show like that.
For anyone who isn't familiar with the Geo interview this is the section where he talks about the issues with creating a live archive:
BW: I’ve gotten to know those guys because I live in DC, and Brendan [Canty, drummer of Fugazi] actually mixed Live at 9:30. Unlike Fugazi, we didn’t have the foresight to record every show from day one. And it wasn’t easy for them, they basically went to work on that since they went on hiatus. And it cost them so much money, mastering every single show, getting them all to be the same volume. They also had the foresight to not record every show on multitrack, so that they couldn’t obsess mixing each show after the fact. They just took the left and right channels from the PA speaker, accepting that they would have to live with however their sound person mixed their set that particular night, and that saved them a lot of time. We started recording all of our shows recently, but we do it multitrack, so we’ll obsess over them unfortunately, because we’ve given ourselves that option. It’s good that Brendan mixed Live at 9:30 actually, because he took that option out of our hands. (laughs)

That moved me so much, I wish I could have seen it. So I feel like that was definitely a response to the election. That song kinda perfectly encapsulates the ideal of staying resolute in the face of some truly scary stuff happening that is potentially gonna move things backwards into a more terrifying place. "I'll stay here with my pride and fight."

He made a comment at one point (not sure if it was before of after they played this song) that was along the lines of "Don't worry about what's going on out there, we're all in here."
Most definitely a response

I cried watching that video and I've been singing it all day.
I wasn't keen on the early PW shows, I just wasn't, but this tour has turned out to be really exciting and creative. I'm so happy to hear them revisiting some 'long lost' material, it shows they still have an interest in pushing in those directions. Fingers and toes crossed and my flaccid nob tied into a bow that they pursue this.

i think it's so funny and sweet and perfect that they set out to make this ramones style album of tight short pop songs and the first tour honored that, but by now the songs are huge and deep with long interstitials. also i mentioned this in the terminal 5 thread but they've really pushed the hocket technique further than i thought they ever could, they've grown so comfortable in what seemed like a rigid unforgiving discipline. i will totally own up to being wrong about how that would work live (although it was pretty rough at first)
