Best song on the album IMO.
It's so goddamn giddy. Love the lyrics, love the melody, love the vocal performance. Reminds of the vibe of Lion in a Coma. Already listened to it like 6 times. Hopefully I don't overlisten this one like I did with Floridada

I think it's the best too (maybe it has something to with it being one of the first ones they worked on/finished)

the "troubles to the fray" (?) part reminds me a lot of beirut (the band)

yeah this is a top tier AC song to me. Avey's enthusiasm in the last part is so irresistible. This song makes me so happy

just these lyrics fucking come on
I'm so happy at the end when he repeats the whole "You’d think the gals should feel so comfortable these days" Part

One of my faves off the album. I think a lot about gender shit and the more chorusey part of this where theyre singing about faith and belief is really emotional for me.

I'm not sure if I hear "What do you want" or "Where you at" for the little vocoded bit that goes on in the background

When you hear the percussion start to fade in before the last part of the song

despite loving this song I definitely don't see it as "feminist"
it's just guys telling girls "wow it's so impressive how strong you are for doing regular things" but like. girls don't need guys to tell them that, this isn't by any means a progressive song
it is, however, a super nice song! for a partner to support their partner and help them feel good about themselves

I love this song and its been stuck in my head every morning since it was released
Something I can't unhear at around 1:06
Every word's so tricky
How we know what to say
sounds like it could easily transition into
"Today feels so supernatural" for the How we know what to say line
from Today's Supernatural on Cent.Hz.

cut a rude hue = stop being disrespectful/mocking/tough-guy attitude? generalized advice for masculine interactions with females
sexy genders = homonym sounding for "sex agendas" ? that's my theory, e.g. once you stop viewing girls as meat for satisfying lust or primacy, the SEX AGENDA, you will get farther and have more serious relationships
just my own projections onto the song. i've always loved their lyrics being open

finally listened to the alb today - first time hearing the entirety of 'golden gal' --- song is very new to me so i don't know if it's a bridge/verse, etc, but around 57s in, avey's melody kept reminding me of the verse in this song:
(starts around 23s)

ha yeah it's similar!! this song is such a headbanger for me. probably my fave on the album.
idk if this has been pointed out, but it seems that with the Golden Girls sample at the beginning there's another clip dropped on top so she's saying "Is this about *怒孩子*?" "No, Blanche...."
*nǚháizi meaning (young) girl/daughter in Mandarin. kind of like sarcastically poking fun at people looking at lyrics through the lens of the writer's personal relationships?

I absolutely love that interpretation. but when I listen to it I can pretty clearly hear it as dave saying, "where your heads at"
"Is this about 'where your heads at?'"

love the music video as well.. besides being super cute, the choice of colors is my favorite thing about it.. i hope they use it somehow in the live shows, it would feel so good to see those colors on a large scale

This is pretty much how I feel, it's a super fun song but might be a little infantalizing? I'm conflicted.

ahhh, yeah, I can hear that! that makes sense. I had trouble hearing it as anything else once I had reached my interpretation despite feeling I was reaching a bit. I honestly didn't even notice it until I went to jam the fuck out to the song in my car.

actually if you guys watch this interview, avey talks about golden gal and the meaning behind it.. seems like it is indeed a feminist/girl power song.

When davey says "where your head's at?", there's another sample of someone shouting "Fuck!" really low in the mix
It's more obvious in the 24-bit
