Is it just me or does Golden Gal sound a little too familiar to Little Fang (the melodies, harmonies and overall sound). It's really keeping me from enjoying the song to its full potential, especially since Little Fang was so darn likable, even upon first listen.

I'm still EXTREMELY psyched for PW. Just wanted to enjoy this one as much as the other singles (FloriDada, LITG). I hope I feel differently when I hear it in context with the rest of the album.

i think its only sort of little fang-y. way heavier sounding than little fang tho... and kind of an entirely new vibe for ac to me.

I think I still like Lying in the Grass a little more, but I just played this twice in a row, and I'm starting to feel it more. All the singles so far sound so blissful. It's like a celebration of life.

It's funny how the statement "in context with the rest of album" (which I'm pretty crazy about) doesn't apply as much to Painting With as the rest of their discography. But I guess that's what they were going for in a way with the idea of the album of singles. It's a really interesting change for AC.

yesssss two of my favorite things, AC & Bea Arthur, together again for the very first time!!! and my bf & i just watched 4 episodes of maude last night...the universe works to answer our prayers in the most glorious of ways.

i haven't heard the whole song yet (only the first 30 sex), nor have i heard the album (can't bring myself to listen to the freebird), but now i'm EXTRA excited!! esspecially after reading all the sweet impressions and micro-reivews, etc. sosososessicted! i def liked the beginning more than the first 2 singles. chord changes reminded me of other AC songs that i couldn't put my finger on (in a good way)...hmmm.

I was thinking about how I think the whole album is really islandy and this one sticks out the most that way.. sounds like a hawaiian folk melody with AC flair. so so so so beautiful I LOVE IT

Also, anyone else feel like that deep synth note that closes out the song on Dave's last "gal" is kinda the band's take on those cymbal washes that close out songs sometimes? That, with the faint reverb wash, the progressive slowing of the vocals, and the resolving scale really makes me think of it
Every time I've gone through this song I always get that vibe and I'm unsure if it's just me or what

I just didn't think the visuals really matched the song that well. I guess it's not a completely terrible video, but I feel like it could have been much better.

watch the my girls video again and tell me it doesn't change or shift. there are very apparent and obvious shifts in the visual trick (they start dripping at the end for petes sake). plus its got the musketeers themselves performing.

this one has a girls head rotating, hands with eyes on the palms, some tollbooths, a girl skipping rope, and some goopy things going in circles. they show all of them in the first 30 seconds and spend the entire rest of the video looping them and cycling hues.

it just feels like they used up their animation budget on some ideas and then realized they still had 3/4 of the video to finish. feels like a lyrics video without the lyrics.

not into the water curses video either.

all that being said, the song is a fucking trip. i love it.

no ya i mean agree it could have been better. and its not exactly like my girls, i just think besides them performing, which is kind of repetitive since theyre just blob people, its kind of a similar non-narrative kind of thing. but ya i hope they still have their best video for this era for another single or gnip gnop/hounds
