Drone is really great and underrated, probably my second fav on the album. The part where he sings the last line and it hits the last chord which sustains as the song fades out is so heavy. Alsatian Darn is #1 tho.

Tomboy is one of my favorite albums of all time. the one thing that makes me kinda sad is how restrained he sounds on Afterburner. Live Bullseye was so energized and raucous, he sounds a bit too tame to me. but that was the choice, or it just shows the difficulty of capturing live vocal energy in studio. it's basically my same classic complaint as with Brothersport, but it's hard for me to grapple with.
that's really my only complaint tho. the whole album is just incredible. i have the boxset but havent listened to it cause i dont have a record player. need to hear the singles mix of the album! i love both mix styles!

i think the only song where i strongly prefer the single mix is the title track. i love how the guitar sounds on its own without the synth.

I wonder whether we could find out how many copies are still on sale, kind of like a countdown to the digital versions! It would also be a great way to promote the remaining copies and encourage people to buy them up. I'd be tempted by another as a backup, definitely.

damn the synth on that track is one of my favorite additions of sonic's on that album. but i agree, i love pk's work on that album, there are only one or two tracks that i prefer the single mix over the album mix

I really like the sound of that synth, really like thick and overdriven, almost like a bass kazoo! The studio version becomes this incredibly powerful melding surge of the vocals, guitar and drums. By the end, it's like one throbbing pulse, I love it. That said, I also really love the original guitar focused version, very hypnotic but stark, singular, driving. I'm gonna put this on now.

Totally agree. I also love the hollers and screams he did during live performances. I wish he could have incorporated those into his performances on the album to make the recordings less static.

I ordered mine from the US to Sydney back when it was released. I believe this was before USPS hiked their shipping costs and you could still order records from overseas cheaper than you could find in Aussie record stores.

My local had a copy in stock for around $70 or more at the time.

I can't quite remember but I think mine was around $50 to Australia back then....
I used to order more LPs & tees from US back before the shipping price hike for sho

I think , pretty much , it didn't sell that well anywhere...

It wasn't Person pitch pt2 .....
( I was very impressed ........ and I love PP ....)
But for whatever reason , grazing had apparently moved on ...

From reading & watching ,....
.....I notice Oz , who didnt get live shows , gave TB much love....

Theres something raw , and knowledgeable about being a temporary blip in a landscape that stretches endlessly ......and inhabited by humans for millions of years ( i believe ) , that Australia possesses .
I feel thats key to Tomboy .....

I did vibe checks for that Lp ( and pbvsgr ) in a canyon breaking out into the high desert in the Joshua tree . Pretty perth fect sort of oresum .
But driving 'into' the outback at sunrise is part of what I feel that record is truly about .

Friendship bracelet - surprisingly contentious........
For me , its the end of the day , as evening changes the palette and time again to light the campfire thats been lit daily in millions of homes for millions of years ...rugs & fresh hair ....

No debts no debts peace&love peace&love

He should do it .....Japan too ......
I think as his kids get older , he will , with them
He probably has a count down timeline going already.....

Nobbo told me if he didn't have kids he would like to go to Mars . One way ....
Ha
Never a dull moment......

His kreuwe are all burnt on touring i know .....
Its punishing year after year ...
And theres no way you'd want impressionable kids around most of Noah's friends...
Ha .Only kidding....

We'd show him a mad party down here when it happens, & u PK! :weed:

It's crazy what you're writing, wife & I have driven all round the desert centre here for the past weeks, magic stuff, we have actually bumped GR & TB through amazing sunrises..... Maybe it's those big harmonies but everything has expanded as we gazed out. There's colors in the Greaper tracks I never heard (think I got a bit annoying eq'ing the hire car stereo but I think I pulled out some vibes and sounds I hadn't heard)

And as you see millions of years of time compressed into layers of canyon walls you really know we are but a blip, a speck and a moment - nothing like this landscape to give you some ancient perspective on life's little ups & downs. It all flows from the sacred life-giving water around here, I think the Taoists feel that too.... Panda's nautical fixations I'm sure are connected. I'll say it again, every version we have of both these albums can really let you know nothing is definitive or fixed, there are qualities to everything, and the magic is in the differences.... as Panda feels flows....... Peace!! X
