prince real is my favorite from the era. So glad it wasn't cut. The ATP and studio versions are so different but they're both 10/10

i think you can turn on a download option on soundcloud, ive been able to download files like this one: https://soundcloud.com/pcmus/bobby
see the little down arrow beneath "write a comment"
maybe you can just turn that option on if it's easier.

If you're able to click edit on the demos you uploaded (as if you were going to go change its name), you can visit the settings tab for the upload and allow downloads!

I have 1 ATP rehearsal full run thru for the ATP ....some versions are subjectively even better ....
The last 2 demos - CTYS & Butcher both have a rough wurdless vox....
Noah doesn't want them shared .....theyre really cool & uber blown out sounding .....
i think perhaps hes being overly shy , but its his demo & i respect that as i'm sure will you ladies
.......thinking aloud..... Fat lady might sing on xmas day......
SO good....is there a demo of robert frost w vocals somewhere too?

Hey Moop
Nope . No real demos w full vox at all as such
2 with scatted vocals ....(ctys&bbcm£
I never had demos of 14 of the songs . Noah gave me a copy
of 2 diff runs thru of his rehearsals for his set at ATP .
I think he knew he was gonna have the 3 verses that would interlock with each other
I didn't think it'd work , but it did - though it was tricky to get the balances right ....
That was one of my fave non LP trax....
I guess he gave me demos only for the non atp trax as they had vox & the demos didnt.....

does pbmtgr remind anyone else of buddhism? A lot of the lyrics are open to interpretation but i see a lot of the same themes. With "Principe Real", it seems like hes talking about meditation.

yeah . might as well tie up the not.....
setlist is exactly the same .
the lengths and mixes are a little differant .
I guess he sent me his two faves from 6+ rehearsals....

that will be a super interesting listen. i love the intro to garage on that ATP but i cant believe how low he mixed those vocals. such a cool variety we have now though. amazing.

I can't believe how much stuff there is we don't already have...noah is a machine.
on another note I find it very ironic that the one guy in AC who cites club/techno music an influence rarely has done any of the AC Dj sets.

Noah made a dj set in Lisbon last year i think..
Hey sonic, you know when pb came with sequencial circuts, ctys, butcher and untying the knot since they are not on the atp set? You know if he only made those songs after?
Also it was never a posibility to record the "dont you wanna make my day" version of cosplay? I saw him close a show in 2013 with that version and it was so sweet

Yo lucashhhh
I dont know ...... I think he thought they didnt fit his new narrative .
He was always of the vibe that TOC , nadir & robt frost had their heads well screwed on
..they didnt need the attentions ....so 2 spk ...that they were unquestionables ....
Which ofcourse is true ....
And robt frost also , i think he was sorta like , yeah this is sick but its a slightly differant vibe
than what i wanna lay out on this.... Could almost have been a PP jam ??
I sort of felt he included those ( all those 5 demos ) to get me uber engaged too .....
(Not that that was ever an issue ) . Ditto Cosplay ......
Super suite ....
I think he drip fed me them over maybe a month or so .....
As he got comfy w them ....
He thort i wouldnt dig the core GR stuff at first .....
I didnt hear sequential or butcher until we started the process .....
Super sweet bonus......
Thats when i started saying ALL THIS NEEDS TO COME OUT ........
And he was saying CAREFUL WHAT U WISH FOR ..... Ha
Dont u wanna make etc ??
That never came up . He likes to keep it interesting , and i guess he was experimenting with it
I thought it was inspirational .......core PB ...........
The lyrics are very very differant thru those 3 words ......maybe a mux of the two woulda been nice
That song he nailed on the demo imho . No questions ....
Similar to the song " i know theres an answer " by the Beach boys
Change 5 words in just the chorus & "hang on to your ego" spins it right around...

Petek,
Can you talk about why the studio version of Cosplay lost the "Coming to America" Mbube sample and shifted to the piano-driven sound? I love the EP version a lot, I was just always curious if that was because you couldn't secure the sample or if it was more of a creative decision (or perhaps both?).
Thanks!

I like the Beach Boys reference, Brian had to change the lyrics because it was about recreational use of drugs and the rest of the band thought those lyrics were very controversial for the time and now Noah have decided to go straightforward with the recreational use of Marihuana. Times have changed, indeed!
Speaking of the ATP rehearsal, I really like the way Noah sings Crosswords in a way I would called bittersweet, his voice there sounds kind of sad, but sweet at the same time, I really like that vibe (guess I'm a melancholy kind of guy) the LP version and EP version of Crosswords sound very energetic & I dig it as well, just think Crosswords is a song that Noah can sing it Loud, Low, Fast, Slow, Passive or Energetic and it will never sound wrong. It's beautiful.
PS
Now that valar602 has mentioned the techno/electronic likes of Noah, I would love to know if Noah enjoyed Gui Boratto's Chromophobia album back in '07. I remember reading an interview in which he expressed his like of Electronic Music and specifically his like for the Kompakt label, he also stated that he fell off of what was coming from the label after the Total Kompakt 4 Compilation, but that he was very interested to listen to Gui Boratto, because a lot of people was telling him about that guy and just by listening to that people he felt like he was going to like his album.
The question is, Did he like Chromophobia by Gui or was a disappointment?
I never found that answer, does anyone in here knows it? Pete, what do you know about it? hehehe
Could you ask him via E-mail, DM or Text? Please
I'm so curious, why journalists never brought up the question again?
That's what I call lazy journalism

Actually .....it MIGHT be in there .....
You MIGHT be able to hear the sort of 'chuffs' they sing...
Yeah - samples are really expensive to clear ....
But also it was because the demo was kinda perfect and was already out there , so it made more sense to show another side . Theres a dubby early version i still like a lot ....
I think Noah felt this & robt frost & a couple of others were of an older oevre and wanted to focus on the new & stretching it to see where it could go and what it'll cover....so to speak...
That glitch in tropic mp3 - i dont hear it as anything but FX getting juiced....
Some people (my wife & peter @ Domino) could very much hear it as a noise .
Noah could hear it but thought it was acceptable FX exhuberance i think ....

Its funny he thought that was funny......
.....maybe thats when it clicked - a life in journalism beckoned .....

I never realised reverb could be so divisive......
I understand sum times , sum generations throw out the baby with the bathwater ....
But reverb ? ?
Its one of the sweetest things that hits these ears ....
I noticed last year when i was doing some "research" in the joshua tree , my buddy was DJing
sweet stuff , but i noticed the stuff that really broke thru the layers all had sweet reverb ....
Love it.....
If you du like a bit of verb , this \/ lp is stunning . Inch worm , for me as a child was kind of a strange psychedelic experience maybe only kids can have - a soundtrack to the crazy whirled we have to figure out . It was always a strange one ....that and 'i am the walrus' ....
Sandpipers is kind of like the mamas & the papas
Reminds me of MGMT at times too ...
Sleeve might be diff in USA ...

Yeah lol i know, but -where- in Lisbon and -when- last year? Can't believe I'd miss something like that, unless it was super hush hush on purpose. (unless Lucas is talking about the Green Ray night he curated feat. Actress, Eric Copeland, beedeegee, which I couldn't be there for...)
Is Noah DJ-shy, Pete? Cuz dude's got a bombasstick taste in music and supreme playlist sequencing, whether he wants to admit it or not. That Sirius mix he did was soooo good. Was Swallow at the Hollow something that took some prodding at first or is he itching to join L.I.E.S. after all?
And hehehe, I KNEW the original Cosplay sample might be super faintly in thereHoping that dubby version of Cosplay is on rehearsal #1
Ha ....yes.....i think i signed off on that , so mums the wurd , eh ?
I feel Noah's very considered & wouldn't like the pressure of DJing ....
I think he's better than he wants to believe too......

Definitely gonna check out that Sandpipers LP, thanks Pete. Agreed about reverb, ultimately it's just a tool, it can be a gimmick or crutch but really it's just another sound to be used or not. it's interesting how even just 5-10 years ago it was maybe more fashionable to add reverb or delay to your music, but now the pendulum is swinging back and even the AC dudes are making a point about not using reverb on their new album. It sort of feels like people are kind of sick of hearing stuff drenched in reverb so maybe music with more clarity and lucidity has some novelty now. but like I said it's just another sound, you can make great music with or without it
