that was raw. so much better in person and the bootlegs were already great. the set began with the 50/50 sample from wazzup! also saw that noah was struggling with can't come back and did some of the songs out of order compositionally/didn't end with the drone? so maybe he was having tech issues. ace nonetheless. had to leave before he came out to meet everyone tho

Okay, post-show gush:
The show itself was pretty damn good
Some dude threw up before the show right in front of the stage, so I was able to snag a really good spot up front after they had cleaned it up, albeit it smelled like puke for a bit
Peaking Lights started off and they weren't half bad
Pretty funky dance stuff, wasn't really what I was expecting after listening to their albums a bit, but it was fun to dance to.
Noah started his set off with the 50/50 sample which kinda had me hoping he'd do the old opener, but it went right into Make Believe and the set followed the same as the last few
Make Believe
Day After Day
Dark Cloud
Vacuum
Can't Go Back
Down Below
The Preakness
Other Guy
Principe Real
Fill Those Spaces
[encore break]
Last Night At The Jetty
Scheherezade
Surfers Hymn
He seemed to be having a bit of difficulty with Can't Go Back specifically, the track cut out once and it seemed like he was taking a while to start singing
That being said, Preakness and Scheherezade were actually transcendental live
Preakness was just too fucking intense with all the strobe lights and shit
The bass on that one was REALLY heavy and was just pounding away
Sounded kinda old school rave-y at first tbh
The visuals were such an integral part of the show, dear god
YouTube videos do NOT do them justice, you have to see those live
Definitely some sort of collaborative thing going on between Danny and Noah on this tour
The entire crowd was clapping along to the beat on Jetty and I think Noah got a kick out of that
After the show I managed to stick around and talk to a few people
Danny seemed really proud of the visuals, he talked to me a bit about the new movie he's been planning which is supposed to be a "more traditional horror thing", but he wasn't sure if it was going to be full length or not yet
Blake from Workaholics bought me a beer because I was standing alone and he said I "didn't look like I was having as much fun as I should be after that show", so that was kinda funny; I was thirsty anyways
I saw Dave and said hi because I didn't want to say too much; he seemed a little annoyed that everyone was going up to him to talk. He kept saying "It's Noah's show, you should be chatting his ear off, not mine!" but he was a pretty good sport overall though. I asked him about the Centipede Radio tracks and he said he wasn't thinking about doing anything more like that, but that the post Down There stuff might get a second wind. He said his mind was "too disjointed" to really know for sure what he was going to do next.
Panda (is the nicest fucking person to talk to) came out probably 40 minutes after he finished up, I chatted quite a bit with him about stuff, some questions and some friendly conversation.
He said that the rumors Pete's been spreading about a Sun Araw remix are actually true to an extent in that Cameron had actually remixed The Preakness and that a studio version of the new Preakness had been recorded but the entire thing was scrapped after Noah and Pete decided it "just didn't sound good".
Apparently the tracks he's taken out of his setlist probably won't be returning as he "doesn't really like playing them anymore", so Heart and Soul and Wazzup aren't going to be in any future shows aside from the 50/50 intro which he says he likes just because it pumps him up really good.
Also hearing Noah say "WAZZUP" was pretty funny. He said it probably wouldn't make it on the record because of copyrights and stuff with the commercial, which was also one of the reasons some songs were getting axed
He said most of the transitions between tracks aren't going to stay on the record, as he wanted it to have a more "straightforward feel", but that he and Pete have tried to work a few in, but he's been having a hard time finding a fluid and smooth switch between most of the songs. He made it sound kinda like this album's touring at least is more practice for stuff down the road as far as stringing songs together and making them flow better; he said that Dave was responsible for the transitions on CHz and he kinda wanted to try to start doing that with this tour, but "probably won't really have it nailed until the next batch of songs", which he tentatively said he'll start working out in the fall.
That all said, he seemed really proud of the songs thus far; he kept using the words "spacey" and "floaty" when he was describing the tracks, Principe Real in particular he was really fond of and said he liked the progress he'd made on that from "a more straightforward, four-to-the-floor dance cut to something more ethereal that had breathing room, but you could still get down to it if you wanted"
He also thought some of the tentative track titles we have were funny, some of them he was like "I don't even think that's a lyric", but he thought it was cool that fans have been latching on to them this early
Other than that he talked about how he was upset with his phone not working.
ALSO, both he and Danny confirmed the tour visuals would see a release, although he wasn't sure if it'd come with the album or not, but he said he felt like they'd become such an integral part of the experience that it'd feel like something were missing if they weren't there to experience. He wasn't sure how he "was going to factor in the strobe lights or smoke though"
He got cut off by some girl wanting him to sign her copy of Person Pitch and he kinda just looked over at me and shrugged and mouthed "sorry"
I managed to get the guys to sign the insert on my copy of Spirit which made my night

and I got a picture with Noah too

Just a very, very good time had

that was incredible. really happy I got to see both that show and Pioneertown. Pioneertown was this super intimate atmosphere and Panda seemed a little more confident, but the sound and visuals were SO cool at the El Rey. wish I'd stayed around to meet Noah since he's my favorite musician, but at the same time I kind of like to keep this air of mystery to him. maybe next time he comes around. bummed these shows are over, but they were both incredible and real excited to hear the album

Hey I met you after the show, I was the big fan that went up to Avey and got all gushy. Floral button up with a pink shirt underneath. Happy you were able to get your insert signed and meet Noah as well. Great show.

The call-and-response thing seemed a bit off at first but once the beat came in he seemed to have had it back on track
