oh wooow that was so worth it all! yes the visuals are almost as good as the music and i am understanding the concept of the album so much more.

it seemed to me like the new new stuff he played (if i can remember correctly) seemed a lot darker than the rest. are they the new ones people were talking about from psychfest?

i definitely saw five or so of you guys and i wish i had gotten to say hi! i thought the crowd was ok except for these whiny kids that i met who just kept yelling annoying shit the whole time ugh. i got away from them after regal degal but they saw me in the middle of take care (or whatever we're calling it) and pulled me over and started yelling & trying to mosh and everyone turned and stared and it was so embarrassing

this also made me glad i listened to the boots so i was able to anticipate the best parts... where i was the crowd just seemed caught off guard...

but man it was fantastic though i want him to come again and again and again

Fantastic show, that surprised me in being less dance-y and more emotionally heavy than I expected. It was a pretty overwhelming thing. And vilent_sibrate is right, Dark Cloud was definitely the hit of the evening.

I was a little worried it wasn't going to be loud enough but they bumped the volume it seemed a few songs in.

I heard this too, it seemed like the snare sounds on Heart and Soul were way too quiet... but maybe he's just re-worked it, I dunno. That's my only complaint from the night.

Hung out with Tony, and got to meet Brint and Edaan, who very nicely gave me a ride to my car afterwards. Thanks again guys!

Onward to Philly!

It was an awesome show. About three of the new songs he played sounded incredible on the first listen- the other ones will probably take some getting used to.

it will be lovely to see some of you again

i'll be with a somewhat tall fella & also my ladyfriend...we are pleasant folk...

I saw you! I was up on the balcony and pointed out your shirt to my friends, and then we started talking about Kool-Aid. I wish I had checked the forums before I went out. I would have said hi.

Oh man, that's such a bummer Aziza. Really hope you get to catch another show at some point.
And my god yeah, those kids yelling shit during Regal Degal's set were the worst. Luckily I kinda moved up closer to the stage/away from them when Panda started. Sad that I didn't get to hang with any CAers, wanted to try and track ya'll down after the show but my friend/ride for the night wanted to leave pretty much right after it ended.

I know I saw you in your Swans shirts Hellomark, but I hadn't read this thread beforehand and didn't know it was you. Also pretty sure I was standing next to strawberrymeat in the blue shirt when I had first gotten into the club. Catch you next time, guys.

I was on the right, probably only about 5-6 ft away from the stage. If you saw anybody with a Swans shirt off to the right of those kids, it would have been me.

Yeah there was a bunch of people talking in front of me and my friends too and my friend told them to shut the fuck up at one point. They were like "Oh yeah I love summertime clothes" and stupid shit like that the entire time. We get it, you like Animal Collective you're at an AC-related show that you played $30 for. Regardless though what a concert I've been waiting four or five years to see him now after his ottobar show on the tomboy tour sold out and it was so worth the wait.

i think i was right in front of these people. they talked the entire time! thought the crowd was sort of lame.

this show was so good though, the visuals need to be released with the album for sure! also, i liked panda's weird 'dancing.'

yeah, the visuals are so sick for the live tour. I love how fluid they are, it fits the music very well.

Side note... There was this girl behind me who kept putting her hands on me. I shortly realized she was rolling face. She got in front of me and we danced basically the whole show. It was kind of weird at first but I just kind of went with it. Does anyone here who was there know an Angie?

I am feeling for everyone that said they found this material darker than his last two albums - this is how I felt the first time I saw him play it at the fest. I walked away like.. extremely saddened? but this time was so different because I was expecting it to be sad again and the whole thing seemed so much more happy and upbeat and lots more emotions came in. I think it takes a few listens to get your bearings. but yesss I keep dreaming myself back to this show, it was beyond my wildest dreams. truly one of the best shows I've seen in my life. and now I'm obsessed with songs I can't even listen to. :flail:

from my seat at the bar balcony I think I got a perfect perspective.. got to watch geo and panda and also see the light show on the ceiling and the sound was INCREDIBLE. not to mention I didn't have to deal with people touching me ahaha. (I am sorry to all you people who were in the mosh with those crazies in the middle. lol. I was watching that and cringing.)

what are we calling that song where his singing is half on a loop and half sung? hard to explain but you know what I mean if you were there. really upbeat and high energy. that is my favorite so far amongst a sea of fucking amazing songs. :mmhmm:

I also appreciated the good crowd, everyone was really cheering and making me happy. good good good time.

I remembered these posts last night and paid close attention to the song at the Philly show, and there wasn't any dropout this time.

even though my freshly removed wisdom teeth were throbbing & my knees/back hurt tremendously, this was definitely one of the better AC-related shows i've seen thus far...

dark clouds is a clear standout, sounds monstrous live....take care & vacuum song were also quite good...the rest of the new songs were enjoyable, just paled in comparison to those three...i wish it was much louder and the bass hit harder (like it usually does there), but those are minor complaints...

the visuals are quite disturbing at times, w/ a lot of nude bald alien women slowly contorting themselves, but somehow it fit the music, so thats cool...

i saw a tony (gang gang shirt yeah?) & somebody who was wearing geo's hausu shirt (that HAS to be somebody from this board), but there were several vultures behind me waiting to snag a spot on the balcony railing, so I didn't venture out...

I thought the bass was hitting pretty hard. I was really sad during the first half of the set and the strobes were doing things to my eyes. Beautiful evening though.

sup Lemon! sorry you were sad the first half of the set. Such beautiful sounds that night. That video I recorded was basically just for my own documentation so I can remember what I heard that night. But I'll warn you all, it is pretty clipped out at certain parts. Still has got sum gems dough.

Hey Sprit! Thanks for doing the video I can kind of re-live the experience haha. I was only really sad in a heartfelt way in relation to how he was singing. Having never heard those songs before I had no idea what to expect. His new songs are killer. I'm re-listening now. I'm definitely glad I waited to listen to any recordings because I have so much to experience now while waiting for the album.
