diomedes: that's why i can't help but eat up every damn thing avey tare does. the lyrics allow for so much interpretation and it can always be more positive than my brain initially takes it. he writes songs in such a way that the interpreter gives it whatever context it has. and i get nothing but inspiration from this or any other release from avey tare

Well we aren't going to gain anything by arguing, but I will say that listening to the album version, to me, it certainly sounds like every other homonym sounding line. One repetition is pronounced and emphasized differently than the other. Be careful, be cared for. Be careful, be cared for. Do we hear what we want to hear? Yes. Does it sound like it makes sense given the context of the song? Oh, yes.

Slightly offtopic by now but eh, I don't mind taking this elsewhere...

I'd even say it's highly intentional and far more dispersed throughout their works/lyrics than you might expect. It certainly lines up with a concept of a malleable perception of reality, and making harmonious sense out of noise/distortion/cacophony.

If you make very allusive lyrics and song structures with evocative sounds, the brain will happily make a meaning out of the song that fits what it wants to hear. It may tell your stories back to you, making you raise an ear to listen closer. For these reasons I find ambiguity to be a powerful conjuring device, we can make up our own lyrics that please us more than what is marked in concrete.

Pulling lines and meaning out of "indecipherable nonsense" is a means of attuning your ears, and is a great allegory for the same visual trickery you will start to experience as you open yourself up to abstract possibilities. Seeing 'things' that maybe aren't there, or maybe are, or maybe are there and are also SOMETHING ELSE in addition to the outward 'obvious' appearance.

It's all very beautiful, and really makes me adore the band. It's quite possible this is common with esoteric / psychedelic art and music, but AC might be my first that I really sunk my teeth in to and started to taste the nectar.

There's high symbolism throughout, Dave is clearly a believer in far outside the empiric natural world, and wants us to open up our minds. Noah's a bit more tame about it, but gives off the same impressions and urging. Their music is a potent tool; key of entry.

Anyway those are my thoughts.
