Hey AC fans,

Due to illness, we will unfortunately not be able to perform our upcoming July tour dates, including the Camp Bisco and Forecastle festivals. We deeply apologize and tried our best to make it work with an alternate set, but ultimately we didn't feel like we were giving fans what they deserved from an Animal Collective show. We are working on rescheduling the non-festival dates as soon as possible. Again we send our sincerest apologies to fans anticipating these shows, especially considering the cancellations earlier this year.

Avey Tare, Deakin, Geoligist, and Panda Bear

I was really looking forward to seeing them in a week because I guess I can wait a little longer :(

I am glad I got to see SLasher Flicks and AC twice in DC.

They are having a horrible year for touring.

This is so disheartening! Last time they cornpilled two weeks before the Nashville show and now this time a week before! Avey needs to slow down. He's got too much on his plate. Side projects are cool but when they interer with your main priority, then there's a problem.

I wouldn't blame Slasher Flicks. He played 4 shows, 40 minutes a piece, spread out over a few weeks...it's not like he disappeared from AC for months to do his solo stuff every night for an hour and a half. He's probably just prone to sinus/throat infections and the constant traveling around the world, carrying a majority of AC's hour and 45 minute set night after night, and his aggressive singing style don't exactly help such a condition.

I know. I'm just looking for someone or something to blame right now. I am beyond bummed. If this was any other band, I wouldn't give a shit. I hope Avey gets well soon (like...actually takes time to rest and stop working) and reschedules the Nashville show as soon as possible.

Is it too early to hope for a three hour set at the makeup date?

you know they are going to make it up to those who have tickets for other shows. I think they've done a pretty nice job of doing their best to take care of their fans professionally.[/quote]

Yeah, they've been great about that considering the circumstances. Damn, poor guy. Was about to head out to Maine to see them tonight but good thing I checked their page. I wonder how Dave's condition affected how he approached singing on the newer material, especially more intense songs like Monkey Riches. All the best wishes that he gets better.

I would say that it hasn't. He still screamed throughout Today's Supernatural, Applesauce, Monkey Riches, Brother Sport, Peacebone, Amanita, Cobwebs, and Purple Bottle. His intensity level never goes down which is great from a fan perspective but not so great for his vocal chords :(

The setlist have been amazing lately. I'm afraid when they reschedule they will drop songs like What Would I Want? Sky and I Think I Can the same way they did Bluish. Ugh! Today is not supernatural...

Yeah :/ Granted I wasn't seeing them at any of the cornpilled dates but at this point I feel like it would almost be better to just stop touring all together (which seemed like the plan after the rescheduled summer shows from the Spring) and come back in the winter/early next year with a new set and just make sure to visit the cornpilled cities.

Deak and Panda need to step it up on the next album and sing more. That way if this happens again, they can still fulfill their commitments.

seriously. Well mostly Deaks. They had enough Panda songs, they just didn't play them. Like seriously, Chores and Derek would have been amazing. Also DAILY ROUTINE! HELLO AC! HELLO! I mean THE DEAKS IS BACK! Come on!

That being said I would love more Panda on the next album, biggest problem with CHz was that he seemed burnt out post Tomboy.

Well considering Avey has 2 albums to work on, Panda has a new one to work on and Deakin has a backlog of material to finish - the odds are probably in favor of them not touring.

While I wouldn't be completely opposed to them stopping touring to work on new things/regroup, I still haven't had a chance to see them live yet and I would really love to :(

That said, it's good that they're focusing on Dave's health, and I hope he gets better asap!

this will mean that slasher flicks august recordings will probs be pushed back
and the AC tour being pushed back means their next inevitable (and well deserved) break will be pushed back which means a longer wait for anything new!!

i'm being very pessimistic here

hope avey is okay.

maybe it'll encourage him to write more chill songs ehehe, Chz songs are clearly very vocally demanding

I'm genuinely surprised that this touring schedule is still going on. I personally have little/no desire to hear them play songs live after they've released those songs. I do wonder why they have changed their writing/touring/recording/reset work process since MPP. If it's to actually make some money from what they do, then I fully support it but creatively and artistically, they've become something quite different to how they worked pre-MPP. I thought they used to be bored by playing stuff after they'd released it.

I'm making a lot of assumptions here but I'm not keen on their evolution into touring festival band.

Did anybody hear anything specifically confirming its Dave who is sick? To me it sounds like it could be any of the guys.

Dave didn't sing for two shows...they wouldn't play all Noah/Josh sets if it was Noah, Josh, or Brian who was sick.

I'm hoping for Dave to get well soon, but if there was a chance to reschedule the Sept. 11th show on a Monday to a weekend, I'd be so happy. But i'm still more concerned for Avey and his health, this could be something that will last many more months.

what if they just played 5 huge, designated shows once a year with awesome visuals and kick ass production so they can stream it all via CHz radio and give everyone everything all at the same time
