Wilbur, I think Little Fang is an outlier on the album, and isn't really like any other tracks imo. Stranges Colores is more in line with the rest of the album to my ears, though it is one of the poppier songs

Slasher Flicks has been putting out some of the most fun jams I've heard in a while!
Stoked for my album to come in the mail!

Does anyone else think there will be a video for every song, these videos are Avey tare's "Slasher Flicks" and they are just the soundtrack?
Little Fang had to do with a cat monster that runs away form home to join a fucked up circus. I forget what move they were mimicking, but abby said something about not wanting to rip a movie off too hard.
Strange Colores has less of a plot but visually it reminds me of the movie "Prince of darkness" with the fluorescent green being projected on them and others in the video.
I don't know. Entirely speculation like I said, but I can see there being a video for every song with little nods or homages to horror movies. Avey has always said for animal collective he wants to do a video for every song. Merriweather was supposed to, but didn't pan out.

Abby said the original idea for the little fang vid came from Psycho.

i thought there were some rumblings on twitter or somewhere indicating that maybe there is some significant visual component of the album in the works, and since we alrdy have 2 vids, it seems likely that it might just be a bunch of vids MPP style.

yeah on the LP version avey sings, "roses on the window, sitting next to my flange pedal"
pretty dead giveaway that he's into flange

Is Strange Colores only tied in the poll with Sender because the video is out? That song seems so "insubstantial" to me. Its kind of like.... a really good Wavves song (srry avey). Hard to even write that out but... ya, idk. not a whole lot to it it seems to me.

Strange Colores sounds like a Collective Soul song to me. Total '90s alt-rock vibes.

ya Strange Colores is probably my least favorite. Too short, and not enough ideas within the track to support it even for 3 minutes.
Also, Your Card doesn't function well as a closer...The Outlaw would work better, especially with the little chill segment following the intense freakout. Goddamn, I can't wait to see this stuff live.

Loove the ending to Outlaw. The guitar sounds like a strait reference to the guitar on some other AC song but I can't think of which... But I think Yr Card is a great closer, mostly because its the most emotionally effective song for me (along with Sender obvs). I wish I could figure out the last lyrics but I think its a gr8 ending. "Yr Fire" lyric is kind of creepy and mysterious, and I feel like they get looser on that song than anywhere else.

Yeah, I agree with ya guys that Strange Colores is just a boring track; It's one of the few tracks on the album that I skip over. That backing instrumental just seems incredibly uninspired, it's as if I've heard variations of it on a dozen of other psych tracks I've heard in the past.
Anways, I believe Modern Days E would have been a better choice for the second single. It's more upbeat, catchier, and there's more replay value to be found on that track. Who knows, maybe they got more videos up their sleeves?

^ I think they do, and ya I like Modern Days E a lot as a single [with a lyric vid!?]
I think Blind Babe and Colores are kind of a pair in my mind, in that they both have the band embracing this psych/punk-garage sound that seems pretty different for Avey. Not sure how I feel abt it yet, definitely interesting though. Duplex Trip seemed to be in the same style live, but they totally changed it with the waltz time. I was wondering if maybe he did that so he didn't have too many songs having that same feel/rhythm

I never really looked at it like that, but now that you mention it the two definitely come closest to that garage sound that Avey was mentioning in the interviews. And as random as putting Duplex Trip to waltz tempo was, it did give the album a bit more variety.
I actually think It'd be pretty cool to see Avey run with this idea when making the next AnCo album and have the band do their own take on garage rock, Like a mutated form of Ty Segall or something.

This might be in the wrong thread, but pretty interesting nonetheless....
The highlight of the article is that Avey mentions that Animal Collective is going to start releasing more live recordings in the future!

while the prospect of quality archives of their past shows is pretty exciting, it kinda seems like they might be entering the "Dick's Picks" stage of their career

Nice, I'm glad to know they recorded somewhere with a "medieval dungeon" vibe. Live stuff would be great as well.
And nah yoyoyo, releasing live stuff more is waaaaaay overdue. they're tighter than ever to my ears so it's definitely abt damn time

Even so, releasing their live material would be amazing. It would really solidify this band. They're going on almost 15 years of making music. That's a pretty good stretch by any standards.
My hope is they hold an AC festival in the near future. Maybe with camping or in a hotel like ATP 09 in New York. Play like 6-7 sets of various material including side projects. And they could theme it in their style, put up cool art installations and the such.

Feeling a little uneasy with so much dislike towards the new sounds! oh well everyone likes what they like,.
As a AC fan and as a fan of Daves work, its hard to imagine one not enjoying these songs! sigh.... Such is trying to imagine something unimaginable though, n'est pas?.
Nevertheless, I'm wicked happy about the strange colors release n vid. Loved little fang (the cat) not so much the entire video but oh well, just the meow was good enough for me.
Gotta say, I hope the general opinion about the freebird is...
That besides Little Fang and Strange Colors, 75% is complete demo. Am I right? I hope no ones judgin by the freebird! I mean it's not just a shit quality freebird, its an almost complete 180(degreesymbol) in production from Lil'Fang n SColors, no way is dat da final press.
If everyone is reading this n thinking "duh yuki we all know this" then consider my words eaten.
ANNYYWWAY! wicked excited, likey dat LP shot there DAD, makin me all antsy for release. Love y'all.
ps. ^._.^

Interesting how, among AC/Avey fans, there are more people who don't like ETSH than those who do. I think more ppl have listened to it by now, but initially i felt the reaction here was generally positive. Now it seems more mixed.
Personally, I haven't listened to the album for few weeks. Not because I don't want to, but I felt that I shouldn't overdo it, as I have a tendency to do. By 'overdo', I mean listen to compulsively. But I only compulsively listen to music that I really, really like. So.
ETSH rules
Edit: I don't get how it's a bad quality freebird.

I don't get that impression at all that more people don't like it than do. could be wrong though. I wen't from freaking out the first week to bitching a bit, but ya of course forming an opinion now is kind of silly. it seems like as solid a release as any of theirs to be at this point
and I don't think the freebird is that low quality, but definitely not 320 either obvs

I must've gone to too many rock concerts, or I just got a better quality version than everyone else, because it sounds fine. I haven't listened to it in a while because I'm waiting for the full version, so maybe I've forgotten, but I had no problems with it when I listened. And this is on good headphones.
