If you're referring to the latest concert then panda BEAR in mind that it was literally performed at an event where the attendees were instructed to lie down and space out to the music being played. It's obviously going to be a lot more droney.

I have to say that Can't Go Back sounds to me like one of the most sparse and straightforward pieces of music in the entire AnCo catalog, including solo & side projects. And yet it works so perfectly.
The only thing that I can think of that comes close, just in its simplicity, would be the band's cover of Polly on the b-side of the Purple Bottle single. But even that has a sort of unnatural style of guitar playing. Whereas Can't Go Back just features this gorgeous, classical harp playing.
Like I said, I don't think this detracts at all, I totally love it. But it's also gonna be really nice to have some AnCo-related music that I can play for my mom, ya know.

Any more hip-hop examples you guys can post? I like the 9th Wonder instrumental stuff, but the other albums by him didn't grab me. I've been listening to Odd Future lately. They are amazing. Also loving the sound of Soft Serve Rip Curl.
Can't wait for this album.

What's the one that everyone's calling "tribe vibes"?
track 3 on the atp boot
the one with the jimi hendrix sample from "little miss lover"
that tribe called quest also sampled for "scenario"
there's a series of albums called "tribe vibes" that is a collection of the original samples
that tribe called quest sampled on their albums.
My assumption is that CA is referencing that.

Hmm, I don't know. I still think the guitar playing on Campfire Songs is kind of idiosyncratic. Plus a lot of that album has no well-defined tempo, which I think sets it apart from the vast majority of popular music.
Anyway, it's sort of a pointless debate. What I mean to say is that I'm totally in love with Can't Go Back. I will cry if it's not on the album

check out Black Moth Super Rainbow's earlier stuff, Madlib, Dj Premier, J Dilla, MF Doom's Metal Fingers Instrumental Records, Nujabes, Monster Rally.
all of that is very break lead-choppy-one off stuff

kill two birds with one stone, pick up madvillainy. noah has noted madlib as an influence at some point, also he uses the same sampler that noah did on person pitch.

Speaking of Dilla, you all should check out the new De La Soul/Dilla mixtape. It's De La rerecording old verses over some unreleased, but all Dilla beats

Sweet, thanks everyone. Madvillainy and Chimurenga Renaissance are exactly what I was looking for. I'll check out the other stuff you guys have mentioned, and the stuff in the hip-hop thread. Needless to say, I've got a lot of awesome music to listen to.
Also, I absolutely love Donuts, it's so dope.

Pretty sure panda was cited gangsta rap as an influence too. Like biggy smalls. This was his thug days but no longer. And thankfully so.

the atp set has been played at my house all summer long, in my car... this new material is beyond tomboy, tomboy was a bit underwhelming for me but i still thought it was good. definitely a more introspective album, which this new stuff seems to go above and below and in and out and all over, a lot more versatile, energetic at times, meditation/ contemplative at times. i love it. i love this man's creative life. panda boners 4 ever. i love that its about death, which makes it about life and his and animal collective's music has always represented a celebration of existence for me so word. lady boners 4 everrr. awesome
