Sorry if this has already been asked, but what is the piano sample in the first half of Safer?

It was originally a harp, which you can hear in live recordings. I can't find a source for this, but I remember reading that they re-recorded it on piano in the studio because the harp sample was shitty quality.

As for where the original sample comes from, no one knows.

Interesting. To me it sounds like it could have come straight off a Chick Corea record or something, both in the playing style and the sound quality/recording quality. So if they did indeed record that piano part in the studio, then that's impressive that they managed to make it sound like a third-party sample.

I wouldn't doubt it, they said they were getting super into house music at the time so it's possible.

Someone help me out here. Right at 1:24 in this song I hear a sort of echoing noise that sounds remarkably similar to the sounds around 0:16 in In The Flowers. Am I crazy?

I don't think it's a sample, but it does sound really similar to me.

Also, the little bits of percussion throughout the song just remind me of MPP in general.

Actually you can hear the sound I'm referring to more clearly at around 0:22 in the Humus Verde song.

Thin Red Line all the way. The Soundcloud link in the first post isn't working, but listen to this: [soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/acsamples/jisas-yu-holem-hand-blom-mi[/soundcloud]

There are a couple of Akira samples on Tomboy (linked in the first post), so maybe your friends can still be satisfied.

edit: if you're asking if he sampled Tetsuo in addition to the Melanesian choir, I'm not sure but I seriously doubt it

this is so dope - i do think it is a soundboard tho. I really hope the studio production stays true to this for the most part.

not sure if this has already been mentioned, but the snippets of dialogue at the end are from Apocalypse Now. Can be heard at 0:05 in this video:

Also I love how the beginning of that massive synth chord at the end sounds like a train. Panda loves those train samples, doesn't he?

WOAH this is so good thanks pete for sharing! and thanks to everyone else who found the song! i seriously cant fucking wait for this album now

also, maybe this has already been discussed (i've been keeping away from the boots so im not sure which samples we've found) but yeah im pretty sure the chanting sample that starts in the beginning is some version of the song Mbube - maybe this version, but sped up a bit?

I was watching this ridiculous video and thought the background track sorta sounded like a bros ripoff

but at 3:40 in the video you even hear the exact sample used in Bros at 10:45

does anyone know where the sample came from?

It's a zoo brother song. All the guy does is recreate noahs songs and sings his own shitty lyrics over them...

He probably just isolated the sample from bros and used it but idk

Listening to the Panda boots for the first time and am curious to know if anyone has come across the source of the harsh free-style instrumental that can be heard throughout "Wazzup". Sounds like something Kaoru Abe would have played (example).

So this horrendous action-cum-thriller movie called The Cold Light of Day was playing on TV the other day and there was this scene where a guy's wound is being branded. The actor lets out this ridiculous scream and, after rewinding it and listening to him again, I could swear that his wailing was nearly identical to the wailing we hear at the beginning of "Wazzup" (though the song's sample is a little touched up).

I've been desperately trying to recover the clip but nada's come up thus far.

Yeah, starting at 2:13. It would be next to impossible to pinpoint the exact sample he used, but the sound is unmistakable.

Isn't that the Same Cooke sample from LFAWFWF? Maybe there's something I'm not hearing.

This is pretty funny. Panda song name with My Girls intro:

Sorry if it's been discussed before, but does anyone have an idea what the "HEY!" sample is in Visiting Friends is? The one that sounds like it's from a rap/hip-hop song. Right around 8:17 (although really it's all over the track):
