shucks! Maybe they could do a tribute to Happy Days instead where they all play at Arnold's Drive-In?

Cool, I'm checking out the Grasslands one. It's pretty sick. I should probably buy tickets to the Wisconsin show

I've only heard Lil' Fang so far. Avey does kind of sound like Julian Casablancas back when he sang through old amps, but in no way does he sound like Garbage, unless the rest of the album sounds like I Think I'm Paranoid. Oh those '90s

You may find it strange but when I listen to "A Sender", I hear "Did You See The Words?" in parts of it... and that is awesome to me

yeah I know what you mean, I didn't think of "Did You See the Words?" specifically but the guitar sound reminds me a bit of that beautiful tone on Feels, I'm really lovin' it.
Also love those fast warbled bassy electronic sounds throughout the verses if anyone knows what I'm talking about. A subtle little touch but very nice. But man "A Sender" is just a great jam in general, might be my favorite Avey song since Laughing Hieroglyphics.
Diggin' The Outlaw and Strange Colores quite a bit as well.

That's what I was thinking earlier. The beat too kind of, it stats like an Avey-fied Alsatian.

I'm actually blown away about how high the vocals are in the mix. I was expecting them to be really hidden in the bloody mud of the mix. The changes in Duplex Trio really grew on me.

Still sad on the mumbling part of That It Won't Grow. Does the momentum of these songs seem slower than the live versions? Or is just me?

Of course these are all petty nitpicks. I'm so glad I stop listening to the new panda boots. I get so attached to the live versions.

Feeling a little underwhelmed with these songs, to be honest. I avoided the boots entirely too. Hmm.
Getting some Primus vibes in some parts which is cool, though.

I'm surprised at how many people have listened to this (incomplete mind you) poor quality freebird and formed opinions so quickly based on it. Don't you feel like you're doing a disservice to yourself and the group not to wait to hear the album the way it was meant to be heard? If I was in the band I would be really disappointed in you guys.

Not really, I'm not saying that I'm awesome for not checking it out yet or anything like that. I can understand some casual fans checking out the freebirds but not the hardcore AC fans, I'm just surprised that some of you could care less about hearing the album as it was intended vs. just wanting to gorge on something for the sake of getting some immediate gratification. It's the same logic of reading a freebirded script before seeing the movie. Like what kind of enjoyment can you get out of it, other than some swift urge being itched?

i guess i was expecting something more close to down there, more cinematic, im feeling the tracks a bit disconnected with each other, maybe is the absence of transitions, but is a cool record

I love it.. Anyone know where this was recorded?

@Myles_Dunhill Sounds jealous! I doubt Avey really cares if you listen to it in low quality seeing how the first time anyone heard Centipede Hz was on ridiculous low quality internet stream... and this freebird isn't even that poor of quality.

Jealous? BAH! Nothing is stopping me from checking it out silly goose. I was just surprised at the lack of restraint exercised on here. I'm not saying I'm better than anyone or that I'm jealous that everyone is having so much fun without me, I was just asking a question which no one has bothered to answer yet.

well ur saying that people who have checked it out are lame, so what does that make you? I'm still going to buy the record, and I can't wait for a full-quality version, believe me. And I do feel for Avey, but SlashingGoodTime makes a good point about CHZ, and honestly, curiosity has been known to get the better of people. its really hard for the average person to not listen to music that they've been waiting forever for, if its right in front of them. I mean you're in this thread, so you've obviously read what people have to say about the record. isn't that kinda spoilery too?

i work at a distribution company and sometimes we get records early, and the innitial quality is only 128 kbps. If its an artist I dig, I'll check it out! I'm not a huge audiophile, and mostly just looking to scoop the tunes.

I guess that would make me the opposite of lame? No seriously, take myself out of this for a second. I don't think you guys are lame, just kind of jumping the gun. I don't want to be condescending, and it's not like I'm going as far as saying that even freebirds themselves are awful for artists, but who knows maybe you can have a well-informed opinion of something without hearing the finished project? Is that the impression I should get? And I haven't read any of the comments anyone has posted on the record, just kind of caught a word or two here and there, but judging on the length of the replies they seem pretty well-formed, but I really wouldn't know. Maybe i'm a weirdo, I've avoided the boots, and I don't care if people check those out for obvious reasons. But for me holding out for the finished project kind of makes it all worthwhile to me. I just thought the majority of people in this thread would have done the same so I was surprised to see how as you put it "curiosity got the better of them". I don't care that much, but this is a message board and discussion is encouraged so I just took it upon myself to steer it this way. That's all. So i guess the answer I was looking for is people just couldn't wait any longer. As long as they're enjoying it, I guess that's pretty awesome then.

The quality isn't the best but its good enough to where I'm pretty sure I can hear just about everything thats in the mix clearly enough, the missing song is a bummer but I don't really think its comparable to reading a movie script before it comes out. Maybe I do lack restraint and curiosity got the best of me, but I didn't preorder the album cuz I wasn't too hyped about it and now that I've listened to it I just had to pay for a physical copy, I love it too much. So I'm not feeling too guilty about it.
Good on you for waiting out though, its a great record IMO so it'll be worth it.

This is very similar to Centipede Hz, but better ??? I really like it. A Sender, Little Fang, Catchy (Was Contagious), Modern Days E and Strange Colores are pretty incredible. A step up from Down There.
