When she opened for AnCo in chicago she played some really cool songs. Can't wait to hear it.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned in here, I am just too lazy to go through ten pages to see if someone already said this but anyway last night ethmin pointed out to me that modern daze f's little guitar hook after the intro is very similar to the first few seconds of pete and pete's theme song.

thought that was pretty cool :milhouse:

yeah, few months ago
i get a goofy smile during modern daze e.

btw anyone else think the very end of Modern Daze F sounds like the adventures of pete and pete theme song?

also, tera melos covered "hey sandy" to close their set when i saw them live and it was probably the craziest rendition i've heard heard. it's a good song.

Little Fang is cool, but the vocal mixing kinda threw me off after my first listen, gotta give it a few relistens I guess.

Same. I'm not as up on the boots for this; has this song been played live? I see there are a couple songs not in the poll up top; are they all new or just later additions?

Yeah so i'm really liking this after a further listen, still feel that the main vocal line is a pinch too loud for me though.

from the domino page:
wrote:
Slasher Flicks by name alone is not what it appears to be. Scrambled horror film soundtracks? Not even remotely. A bunch of East Coasters making their quintessential LA album? No, more like escape from LA, say guitar-wielding lead singer Avey Tare (of Animal Collective), keyboard player and singer Angel Deradoorian (of Dirty Projectors, Deradoorian), and drummer Jeremy Hyman (of Ponytail, Dan Deacon). If LA is an environment to get lost in, as they claim, this group sewing roots in SoCal have become lost in the best way: relocating and reinventing sounds they’re already skilled in making, sounds that as Avey Tare says, are not only regionally unrestricted but that “come from a place that’s not human.”Having composed the bones of these eight songs on acoustic guitar, Avey Tare invited Deradoorian to create melodic lines to flesh them out. Then, enter Hyman, whose backgrounds in painting and music proved his rare combo of flexibility and acuity, “free but structured”. Uniquely its own “jazz power trio,” Slasher Flicks produced and recorded the songs live at the Lair studio using only minimal overdubs; the live sound being key to Slasher Flicks’ spooky dynamism.

While their sound is monstrous and there are nightmarish moments peppering the lyrics and melodies, Little Fang’s clean guitars, soft everything and special smoke called "PYT" blown into the tape machine shows off spirits conjured from sweeter worlds. I haven't really noticed any of the lyrics apart from the obvious ones after 4 listens so I hope they're not bad when I start to notice them.

This is so sweet. Totally unexpected from the little I've listen from the boots. Vocals are fine to me. The bass melody is groovy. So danceable.

reading that thing as well as StrangeClams' description of the songs on facebook makes me think this could kind of be to Centipede Hz as Let It Be...Naked was to Let It Be, haha.

Yay, can't wait for the 7th of April!

I do have to say that I love the production on this, it's perfect for the type of sound they're going for here and I can't wait to hear how the other songs sound with it :)

Seriously, the best thing Avey has ever released imo...

this is fucking jammin man holy shit. i think the lyrics are great, they suit the track perfectly. So happy, thank you slasher flicks.

*AHEM*

I meant the vocal mix, suits the track perfectly, I absolutely love it, perfect for the style of the song, feels so, idk cant put my finger on it but also so fucking dancey. The lyrics suit it too of course though, i love the lyrics to this one a lot. That mix of creepy sound with the bouncy, happy sound. One of my faveys of daveys specialties. Once again, thank you slasher flicks. It's like they heard our anxious cries of impatience.

Awesome choice for a fucking single if I do say so myself. So proud of these dudes.

Gonna be better than Down There provided the rest of the tracks are assisted with equally strong production.

reminds me of sitting in class at the exact moment Centipede Hz was streaming for the first time, so infuriating.
