it has the potential to be the AC related release since ODDSAC. and the potential to be better than FBK (Tomboy and Down There & CPHZ). m really surprised by the pure awsomeness of it

u accidently word

But yeah, I still can't get over how fucking great that Future song is. All of the other Slasher Flicks stuff kinda pales to it.

Finally got around to listening to some of the recordings floating around and they're really exceeding my expectations. Didn't really know what to expect but this could be at Down There levels of fantastic. Feelin' pretty hyped guys.

Down There is one of my favorite albums EVER.
I think I'll like SF more than FBK, Tomboy, and CHz, but I don't think it will pass up Down There for me. Maybe it will blow me away!

ODDSAC was sort of officially released worldwide in August though. But yeah. Either way, they didn't start recording Down There until months after ODDSAC was finished.

The setlist that Avey posted on instagram for the show in UK was the same order of songs as the setlist from the Brooklyn show boot that was posted here, right? I just want to make sure I have all of my song titles correct in my iTunes!

Ok, thanks for the info!
Yeah, I knew ODDSAC was finished first, I just wasn't sure if people were talking about when It was MADE or RELEASED.

I think so, since they repeated the same setlist for both their Baltimore show and their Brooklyn show.

^ Sweet names. To me this is like the sweetest aspects of CHz and Down There mixed and my first impression is that its at least on the same level if not better and I'm so into it. LA and Angel have been good for his songwriting me thinks

Avey seems to be getting back to a purer place with his songwriting. CHz seemed like an attempt at being different for the sake of being different. There was immense pressure in following up MPP and there's no way that didn't affect his process. It's great to see him writing with a guitar again. He's extremely underrated. Not necessarily from a technical standpoint, but just the choices he makes on the guitar inspire me as a musician. Hopefully he doesn't get bored with the instrument by the time the Anco boys get back together.

I'm just happy this project is more stripped down and somewhat more organic. Over sampling the fuck out of music is just one of those things I find grating.

I saw them in London and it was a really fun show. Jeremy's drumming was incredible and it gave it a propulsive energy. Shout out to Angel's harmonies too.

I ranted a bit about other posts in this thread but I didn't want to spoil the vibe/be an unnecessarily angry forum poster/also not really relevant to Slasher Flicks. I spoilered it because I didn't want to feel like I wasted my (precious) time.
Spoiler: show
Centipede Hz wasn't weird for the sake of being weird, it definitely feels like a reaction to MPP but naturally so. The songwriting in segments and some concepts weren't 'cool' (in trad sense, not PB sense) but these things have always been part of the band, maybe just more pronounced here. There are definitely other problems with the album and I'm not too hot on it, but I feel like that is an unfair criticism/shit people say to denigrate 'different' things that they don't like. AC being weird for the sake of it sounds like a YouTube comment that also bashes 'hipsters'.

What is 'over sampling'? Is MPP over sampled? Or Person Pitch or Donuts? I don't mean to just disregard this opinion but I don't understand without other 'over sampled' reference points.

'The best since ...' is kinda redundant, they had one album that wasn't as well received as their past output and the rest is just personal preference.

Sorry.

Just curious, what didn't you like about Strange Colores when you saw them? It seems like one of the most immediate of their new songs in terms of accessibility and the NY crowd went nuts for it.

I think a big part of it was the sound at the metro gallery wasn't super great and almost kinda obscured Avey's vocal melody. It's not that I didn't like it, I think I was just slightly less impressed with it than most of the others. I love it now.

I love every single song in the set which is something that I haven't been able to say about a new set of songs by AC or the AC guys probably since 'the started playing the mpp jams live.

I mean no disrespect to CHz. I love the album. Poor choice of words on my part. 'A reaction to MPP' is exactly what I meant. It felt like they were rebelling against their natural instincts instead of allowing the music to flow out of them. Of course, I could be totally wrong about this. I'm not in the band. This is just how I interpreted the music with my ears. Slasher Flicks sounds natural. Primal. Instant goosebumps. It took several listens for Centipede Hz to hit me in the gut.

Sorry for jumping on that and for being a grump in general. I see what you mean, I don't completely agree though. I think CHz is probably the most AC sounding record they have made and it was written like 4 years after the MPP songs were written so I think it's understandable that they were in a different place. I feel like MPP is probably the weirdest AC record compared with other AC records (ignoring Panda Bear's solo work) and can't really imagine them having ever continued down that path.

Slasher Flicks does sound like an extension of Down There in a lot of ways to me, w/ the old horror samples and some murky synth sounds. Obviously very different instrumentation which completely changes things, but I think it's cool to see it as a sequel to Down There.
