Would love to swap Ferry Lady for 50mg, but I'm not complaining. Great set. The "almost got me, almost got me" part of Song for Ariel is so fucking good.

Only seen a couple other videos of the band performing. How stripped back is everyone else's gear? Thought Rivka and/or Maria also had keyboards or do they really just operate one machine live?
We've missed you Stan buddy

Wonderful set. I adore this album.
Probably no surprise to anyone here that I've been diagnosed with autism and ADHD as an old c*** (44) but I think it'd influenced my relationship with AC over the years, in terms of rigidity and fulfilled/unfulfilled expectations and stuff. I love this band so much, and this forum, and the opportunity to discuss/proselytise how I feel about the band. Then Internet is changing, it's changed so much, and I'll be forever grateful for what we've been able to share here in such an open and intimate venue.
Sending lots of love to you all. I didn't tell anyone else about this shit apart from my wife and best mates because...well, because...

congrats Stan and glad you feel comfortable to share that here.
I am undiagnosed but have twigged for a while that my brain is working a little differently from a lot of people around me. I always felt seen by AC and PB's music in this way, a certain kinship in emotional experience and expression. I think a lot of fans feel the music speaking in that zone and it's a really valuable connection to have to a piece of art, and a natural starting point for a community like this to come into being. lots of love

maybe rivka has an additional keyboard in the full setup but I'm not sure. as far as I can tell the tiny desk arrangements are no different to normal, they just played just quieter.

Only difference i noticed in the tiny desk is no pedals. I think Tim uses a bass boost that comes in hard during the new parts of song for ariel. And noah doesnt seem to be using his chroma console or infinite jets for it either.

Those interviewers are def not my type of people, but great insights by PB on the album. I liked that he kinda laid out what the intention of the album was. And a year and a half after my last long term relationship, I can 1000% relate. Also love that he stood up for RHCP, haha

What are y’all’s speculations about what the other B Sides will be? Last interview I think Noah said there’s 4 (which is exciting because in Jordan and Gregg’s pod they said just 2).
It’s already all but confirmed that Neverending Game re-recorded is one. I’m really hoping Song for Ariel redux is another. I wonder if they all could be interpolations of older work in the new sound? Which older songs would you like to here in the Grift production space?

Oh, that is a really good question. I'm going to go with:
- Danger (seems like it was one of the Madrid songs)
- Mr. Noah (I feel like this one was a no brainer for the full band set up. I wonder if he'll play it on the west coast leg.)
- Butcher Baker (The main beat of this song is similar to Ferry Lady. I could envision a really cool transition from it to this.)
- I Know I Don't Know (This song, compositionally and lyrically, just kind of feels like it would belong on Sinister Grift.)
For the EP, I think Nevernding Game will 100% be on there. I also hope Virginia Tech will be on there. I really would like a CD and FLAC version of it.

heck no, Venom's In has maybe the best replay value of any song on the whole album because of how many directions his vocals go. Left in the Cold and Elegy are some of the most heartbreaking wandering sonic soundscapes he's recorded, and Defense slaps just for the Cindy Lee guitars alone, not to mention how we're left hearing Noah sing "Here I Come" to finish off the album, it's essential.
side A - 9/10
side B - 9/10
the first 5 songs on the album are undeniable pop perfection - Ferry Lady is my least favorite song on the album. side B goes through such a great emotional journey.

Venom’s In has been growing on me… this song at Tiny Desk would have been amazing.

i think venoms in is my favorite of the record, guitars sound closest to the madrid demoes so it gives me nostalgia and best lyrics/delivery in the chorus actually destroys me. like one of the saddest panda/ac songs ever but its nice bc its a song of acceptance

I'm on Side A. Anywhere But Here's bad reputation on this forum baffles me. I think it's better than both Left in the Cold and Elegy, two kinda whatever songs for me. It's a classic rock album move to have a ballad as your second song. Think of The Beautiful Ones. Love in Vain. Something. AND it's got a spoken word component I can't understand? Fantastic.

He's talking about the numbers game, I think. Anywhere But Here has the lowest score currently.

i'm a big fan of the album, i don't think i'd remove any songs from the record if I had the choice. but the numbers game makes monsters of good men, and turns bad men into demons.

Anywhere but Here and Venom's In are the biggest growers for me. They were probably my 7th and 8th favorites on first few listens, and now they're the most integral and special parts of the album. Emotional depth, really strong songwriting, great tunes.
50mg and Just as Well were the immediate crowd-pleasing hits and they're still great, but I can dig my teeth into the former two more.

Finished my boot from Rewire april 6th. Hope you like it. Later I'll be cutting it and putting it somewhere (archive maybe)
Great show, panda had a mustache, hard to see because of the angle but if you look close enough you can spot it.

Josh did an interview with Tape-Op talking about recording Sinister Grift and much more: https://tapeop.com/podcast/episode-104-josh-deakin-dibb
It's on Spotify too.
Edit: Josh, if you're around, would you share some of the go-to plug-ins you kept returning to for Sinister Grift? What does your 2-bus look like?

Same. The interview with Gustav Ejstes of Dungen about the recording of Ta det lugnt—it's prob 20 years old at this point—is mindblowing. I think he said the kit was mic'd with a single 57.

it was track 2 and probably my highlight for me last night in Denver. Even more than Song for Ariel and Praise.... god it was gorgeous. Sounded kinda like live skiffs/iin era live AC in that it was kinda dub/dad-rock ified in coolest way possible. Gorgeous, massive and groovy
