to be clear I don't think they're saying ni hao in the finished track, but the interview reads like that was an early version of the lyric that shifted as they played shows and settled into 'meow' over time

Feels: live performances of Banshee Beat + Loch Raven, DYSTW, Wastered from 2004–2005
MPP: live performance from 2008-03-18
CHz: honeycomb/gotham
PW: Michael, Remember
TS: live performance of Car Keys from 2021-09-08

Young Prayer: live performance from 2002-09-07 with unique intro jam, then sequenced 2/6/5/1/3/4/7/8
Person Pitch: live performance from ZDB 2004-09-27—LFAWFWF, Search for Delicious, Bonfire of the Vanities, Bros
Tomboy: extended Actress "Primitive Pattern" remix
Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper: "Mr Noah" EP + a download for Preakness motorik version

the only super unique track is the young prayer performance, only other partial recording is on ACB

e: it looks like the first Japanese release of Sung Tongs is happening mid-november with some live bonus tracks, possibly the first three songs off the pitchfork 2017 show? https://www.beatink.com/products/detail ... t_id=14430

Been listening to hella Jane and Terrestrial Tones lately. Its been a nice view into Dave and Noah's tonal and textural craft. I like how both projects are collaborations and from the really sweet mid 2000s period. They complement each other in cool ways too. I play em loud in the car like a true maniac.

Jane is one of my favorite things ever from Noah. He is so overly-qualified at making understated/minimal/electronic/dance music, wish he’d release more just for fun

OOOO can't wait to listen to this. Reaper Madness is almost exclusively the way I listen to PBVSGR, I think it's phenomenal. Looking forward to hearing Ethan's insights into his creation of the mix!

Now that Noah's album announcement and single are out, I wake up every day hoping to hear about this elusive film score. The Inspection came out in November - right after Avey announced 7s. Seems like the timing could line up like this again.

I'd kill for him to start a side project of minimal dub house techno ambient type stuff. In many ways, his recommendations are what got me into that kind of stuff in the first place.

in the podcast yall talk about the og ladysmith sample from the cosplay demo being in reaper madness, is it just deeply buried in the mix? i'm listening and i can kinnnnnda make it out, but the EP version's instrumentation is the primary force in the reaper madness version to my ears

They couldn’t handle such a transcendental song on their platform.
But yeah, anyone else in agreeance that Safer is their magnum opus?

It’s in there! Pretty low in volume, happens right before the apocalypse now outro. But there also exists a version that is just the ladysmith black mambazo sample that SB posted here years ago. I think that version is on YouTube now. The version I made slowly fades it up in the bkg, just as a sort of final dynamic shift before the apocalypse now sample and thx shit.

Completely agree! It kind of encapsulates everything they do well
In one song. It’s possibly my favorite Avey performance too.

ah nice gotcha! o wow, i hear it now and it's so subtle, i've always focused on the broken apocalypse now clips and now i'll have my ears tuned to that instead!
i have the demo, i remember when he shared that originally and how initially disappointed i was it wasnt on the album proper; it's up on soulseek for anyone who doesn't have it (but you'll have to catch me when i'm logged on)

I believe it was cuz of a sample copyright (the bollywood sample in the beginning). I think somebody on reddit messaged Avey about it. He said they're trying to get it back up

Yeah, 100 Cooper and August. More Jane would be sick. I really liked the Calm App Reject mix that he shared on his twitter a while back. I feel like I get a better understanding of how Avey and Panda think about music when I hear their instrumental work. Like texture, dynamics, pacing and stuff like that.

Also, kinda weird to say it, but the CD nostalgia is officially hitting hard now. Fuckin love playing CD's man. Beserker and Oboroed/Circus Lives. hahaha

RIP Phil Lesh. I'm not a big Dead person (yet?) but Ripple is a beautiful song. Makes me feel like I'm hiking in northern california (like humboldt), or outside in nature and high. I always thought GD was a punk band cuz the steal your face logo, funny how wrong i was.

have always thought they were similar too. Avey is definitely a Stereolab fan. Anonymous Collective even feels pretty AC in how meditative it is

it's so fitting A Sunny Day in Glasgow's Ashes Grammar came out the same year as MPP because it is such a bright sister record to MPP - like they were meant to be twins and be released together in the same year

I think the theory has legs. Or it’s another Gnarls Barkley situation hehe. From the PW ama
