Oh yeah that one has bulbasaur in it too, good call

Also yeah, good to see the general creatures being covered too.

I'm sure we got many more to dig up! Like I just remembered Bat You'll Fly. There's many others still to be posted!

It's a lake in Baltimore area I believe, which makes sense the touring title was simply "Lake"

Crimson mr noah and one other that im forgetting all talk about eagles.

Principe Real references sheepdogs a lot.

Sponge Luke has always been a funny title to me. Like maybe their funniest title but also their best song tbh. Always wondered if it had anything to do with Spongebob. "What's that show with the talking sponge, Sponge Luke or something?"

I think little fang is also about AV's cat.

"LIKE CROCODILES!" (Safer... assuming that actually is the line)
Safer also mentions hares

Fireflies are referenced in the first few lines of Laughing Hieroglyphic as well

Arguably the entire Down There album is "about" crocodiles and/or alligators

"Oh, you make me wanna (turns into a wolf and attacks)" Avey's description of Loch Raven lol

"Young red bird" Flesh Canoe

I agree about banshees, they aren't any more a kind of animal than, like, a ghost is

Yeah bees are a kind of animal. They're just not as prototypical as things like mammals and reptiles are. I think when people say "animals" they often are thinking of vertebrates

Oh thats what he's saying? I always thought it was something about a Wawa, like the convenience store. We don't have any of those where I live, I'm assuming our equivalent is Speedway or something like that.

Hmm, it doesn't seem like there were any Wawas in New York in the mid-2000s, assuming that's where Dave was living and where the song is set. Also I don't know what the rest of the line would be either. Even though the chihuaha line is kind of strange

The chihuahua line is a favorite of mine. Admittedly, I've never been able to understand what it literally says (i.e., "a dog moves through an environment") until reading it in this thread. Given Dave's heat-sick, heartsick, drunken stamper and the erotically woozy Roland synth melodies, I've always heard it as an innocent reflection of Dave's nearly psychotic desire to get outside of himself and be in the freedom of his love with the one he loves. No literal doggy, no environment but doggone s p a c e ! :smoking:

This understanding may have something to do with being 19 and living in the Loop in Chicago when this song came out... might be mirroring some of my own experiences lol.
