I have been quite miffed that more publications haven't been having this album and these songs on blast.
Take some time to fill out P4K's readers poll and let's show 'em how much this band means to the world--plus I told them I was between 18-24 years old because they center younger trending bands (ha!)

A great year for music, IMO…
Isn’t It Now?
7s
Unknown Mortal Orchestra – V
The Clientele – I am Not There Anymore
Blur – The Ballad of Darren
Shame – Food for Worms
Andy Shauf – Norm
Califone – Villagers
Eddie Chacon – Sundown
King Krule – Space Heavy
Westerman – An Inbuilt Fault
Wilco – Cousin
Kossem Mosse – workshop 32
Devandra Banhart – Flying Wig
Vanishing Twin – Afternoon X
“Sammy Boy” by Mapache, “Distant Light” by Simon Farintosh, “Rina” by Mad Anthony, “On Your Side” by Laurence Guy. I’d say, in general, my favorite discoveries this year are from the past, but for my taste this year was a doozy.

FREE PALESTINE TIL ITS BACKWARDS. I'm bout to cuss out the zionist Berkeley City Council tomorrow, for the 3rd week in a row. Garbage ass mayor says a ceasefire is anti-semitism. What kind of devils are these? To not do the bare minimum of a gesture against the genocide. Either way, this whole conflict has reminded me one thing that i almost forgot: real people and people of color stick together. We're all Palestinians now or were at some point. Fuck Is Not Real and Fuck Amerikkka.

the cognitive dissonance between the ongoing genocide and 'anti-semitism' debate over here is truly insane...

It's really disappointing that they still haven't said anything. I feel like they were more vocal about this kind of stuff at a one point in time. If you have that kind of platform right now I think you have a responsibility to use it to denounce this genocide, end of story.

Y'all would probably be interested to know that Josh and Brian are on the list of signatories of this letter, though I haven't seen any statements from them or anything: https://musiciansforpalestine.net/2023-letter/
Dunno if this is enough to count as "breaking their silence", probably not. Also, I created an account to bring this information, hi

My baseline expectation is nothing. I think it's kind of silly to expect bands to comment directly on things happening in the world, or at least it's silly to get upset if they don't. However, as they have been vocal about things in the recent past, it does kind of stick out. They could throw up a live show on bandcamp or something with proceeds going to the right places, easy.

Thanks for bringing that up! It's definitely good to see that for sure

I'm glad 2 of em signed it. AC was all about taking the Mammy off the People EP, not using the word Indian on an album title, supporting a Trans rights group thru a live album sale, writing land acknowledgements on liner notes, and recently narcan harm reduction, so they for sure have a sense of being vocal about political things. From IG posts, it does seem like Josh and Brian are the most politically active of the 4.
I'm not even mad at AC, but bands like Radiohead who made a whole album criticizing Bush-era Iraq war politics should be downright ashamed at not saying anything.
Hope y'all on this board fight the good fight. No one's free until we all are. Palestine is beautiful, may it be free.

I was also really hoping they would make a statement about all of that anti-trans legislation and whatnot that happened over the summer. Shit is still very bad for us in that regard, especially with the election coming up, but at this point if they're going to make any statements first and foremost they should obviously take a stand with Palestine.
That being said, they have quite a lot of trans fans (lol trans fans). Like so many trans women are into this band it's kind of a stereotype at this point. There's this trans woman i follow on instagram and in the background of every video she posts there's a copy of mpp on the wall

It's true, they've even got trans forum admins
But yeah, it's difficult for me to say how a band should navigate the current media landscape w/r/t issue advocacy, how to use the platform for good. I'd have no idea... but I do appreciate that the band does try.
