lol @ randomly entering the thread just to tell people to stop posting. you're the bigger dork here pal
Are you ok? Nobody was even being that negative. The last page was full of people sharing music that they like with each other. I think it only got negative when you told them to touch grass, which comes off as rude
Os Mutantes (their first three are what got me into it all)
Rita Lee (singer from Mutantes. she has solo albums but I'm partial to a project she did called Cilibrinas Do Eden)
Caetano Veloso - i think he was heavy on the soul jazz comp so you've probably heard his stuff
Jorge Ben (I dig a lot of the 70's ones)
Milton Nascimento - Clube da Esquina
Nelson Angelo e Joyce (they both have their own discographies but the album they did together rules. Check the song Communhao)
Arthur Verocai (check the first self titled)
Hyldon - Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda
Marconi Notaro - No Sub Reino Do Metazoarios
Marinho Castellar & Banda Disrritimia
Lula e Lailson - Satwa
Lula Cortes e Ze Ramalho - Paebiru
Gal Costa - Gal
Marcos Valle - Previsao Do Tempo
Alceu Valenca & Geraldo Azevedo
I’ll give you the billboards, those were fun, but I can’t help feeling like this record is just being dropped to move on. I wonder if the band and label reached a deal to get it out asap lol

i feel like at least a small part of why (for me) hype is coming up short is because of reset, which is like a very good problem to have, but i feel like pete and panda have been absolutely blitzing social media posting clips, doing interviews, etc whereas the rest of animal collective has been pretty quiet about IIN. I know there was lots of posting when defeat and soul cap dropped, but nothing as substantive (and i hate this conspiracy theory but panda's been real quiet about IIN.
idk this is old, old material for them, they gotta be feeling weird about the rollout, i'm sure they'll be happy to have it out and then, maybe, be able to just move on?
fwiw, Time Skiffs technically had 4 prerelease singles. So I could see Gem dropping this week and then one more coming a few days before release day or something. Though at this point I think I would prefer if Gem is the only other single, even if it means waiting longer to hear it..
This is a great list. I remember discovering Clube da Esquina after Geo included Cravo e Canela in the Centipede Radio mix of songs that influenced CHz. It's been one of my all-time favorite albums since then

had a thought today, and I don’t know how these things work so could be way off on this. but maybe lack of promo is bc they cut a deal with domino that they would be able to do that europe tour but they had cut costs somewhere else and that happened to be on the pre-release promo of this record
I've also noticed a bit of a pattern emerging (since 2016) where they tend not to play anything off the album before on the following tour. More likely to reimagine older songs, not the ones they've just played to death in the years before.
During all the Skiffs era shows there were no (or virtually no) PW songs played as far as I'm aware.
During the PW era shows: virtually no CHz songs played either.
And yeah there's no way they're touching these songs again for a while.

what do you mean by virtually no songs were played, did they do little teases or something?
patiently awaiting the day we get to hear painting with songs reimagined, and somewhere down the line iin and skiffs as well...
Somebody asked Panda after the Off Festival in Poland whether there's a chance of AnCo gig next year and he supposedly said it is likely they won't play in Europe as AnCo for a few years ;(

Strangest thing about big music releases for me these days is that nothing really freebirds. Is it because all pre-release materials come via an encoded stream rather than physical copy? Either way, fuck Web Sheriff!
