Because "Defeat" exists and might be on IIN? (sheer speculation, not sure if we should get our hopes up), I know this has probably numbed us to the hype of getting another long track on an AC album, but damn, other than Defeat we haven't had a 10-minute track on an AC album since 2004! ("Safer" comes closest at 9 minutes in 2007.)

"Magicians" is going to be SO special, SO epic.

I'm not sure I've ever read a review call a 60+ minute album "concise." Amazing.

What's more interesting is the word "cohesive" in talking about a group of songs from so many different writing sessions that we've all wondered how they're going to fit together. Doubly amazing.

Is it not confirmed that Defeat is on IIN? It's on the track list for the orchid record and cd on domino and the track list for Bandcamp.

I think folks are just worried that the song Defeat on IIN? isn’t the same song as Defeat (A Not Suite), but a different twenty minute track with a similar title.

It is highly likely it is a completely different song, so Defeat as we know it will not be on the album, likely highly

either this is some joke that every member on this board is in on, or nobody has actually preordered the album on Apple Music.

it's the same Defeat as the single, dudes. you can listen to it. Defeat is on the record!

hey man pretty sure its in the forum's guidelines to avoid spreading misinformation.. there has so far been no confirmation that defeat will be on this album, let alone any album. not trying to make you feel bad or anything but yeah just be careful what you post because a lot of people will read this and believe it without looking into it any further

I propose we shift discussion to evaluating the merits of what medium you’re buying the album in. With songs clocking in as long as they are I’m saying CD is the best

How about sound/lyrics predictions for All The Clubs Are Broken? Was pretty fun in the runup to Time Skiffs guessing what Strung would be like - I remember Slothrope getting it very close, even down to predicting there'd be several big moments of silence. For this new jam I reckon the Of Montreal comparisons are suggesting a Wraith Pinned To The Mist/Gronlandic Edit sort of tempo, a little bit disco in the same way TriKid was a little bit disco. As for the lyrics, I think an overt ACAB sentiment would be surprising, not in terms of the AC's own views but in how they express them in their music. But maybe the broken clubs = destroyed truncheons?

Actually it would be sick if All the Clubs was actually TriKid, it would fit given the length and the "medieval pop song" description. The only thing is that they probably wouldn't have included it in that official Music Box release if they had it planned for IIN...

i wouldn't be surprised if acab ends up having the vibe of trikid, kind of like how bluish was the sonic evolution of maya/from a beach. something propulsive and electronic is what i'm guessing. faster than 120 bpm though

soul capturer has grown on me quite a bit now that the first listen sheen has worn off. it's gonna be a great vibe-setter for the rest of the album. avey's (and panda's) vocals rule, i like the lyrics, the songwriting is simple but effective. it might end up being one of my least favorite compared to defeat and the other behemoths waiting to be heard, but it does just fine as an opener. very welcoming

I have decided to go on a sort of music fast leading up to the release--I will not choose any music to listen to, only what is heard in my environment, or put on by other people in casual situations. I stopped listening to the singles so they have some newness in the context of the album. This is, in part, to help me focus on making my own music, but also to have IIN be a true whopper of a first listen. I've stayed away from the boots for a long time now, which I haven't done for an AC album leadup since SJ.

So far I am 5 days in and it's feeling good--one side effect is I am making up a lot of songs throughout the day to get through the withdrawal, it feels nice and creative...

I think acab is a jaunty, jangly lil acoustic guitar heavy piece and has the title in the lyrics like "..and all the clubs are brokKEEEEN" like I might record the version of it in my head honestly. The only "medieval" vibe truly will be in form of either flute type sounds or ya maybe harpsichord/auto harp. It will have kind of older English nursery rhyme imagery and geo will do weird magic spell type sounds and like. Teleportation sound fx throughout

my vote is for a feral, hollinndagainesque recording of the boys shattering medieval instruments in the studio. After a cacophonous climax, a moment of silence, and a satisfied sigh, "All the clubs are broken" is whispered in unison

Based on the village green comparison, I’m hoping for some harpsichord haha. This era has been pretty simplistic song structure style (even kings) so I would love if it wasn’t a quick verse chorus type song. Something like the burglars with 1000 parts in a short time would be fun, or maybe it’s just a repeated melodic line that builds in intensity. Either way I’m expecting intricate harmonies

Lol this immediately made me think of Gettin' to the Point. Maybe it's just that song with slightly different lyrics and a Village Green sample instead of Eddie Cochran.

I mean ya it'd be kinda cool but like... it def aint Tri Kid right. Unless maybe they re-worked the hell out of it and made it more medieval... gotta be careful about that word tho... I think it means a lot of diff things to people, so going off one person saying medieval could mean nothing.

but smoking gun I think is that tri kid was included in the MBV release. I do like Tri kid tho kinda, maybe studio Tk will live one day... you never know if there's gonna be a EP for this era.... doubt it but who knows. PB <3s, Tri Kid, Sundown with Cecil and The Path ???
