Yeah when they mentioned bon Iver and big thief back to back as artists they have no clue about regarding next albums that was a big relief to check those two off. Vampire weekend said their album will be ready for 2024 so it’s not them either.
Likely not Fleet Foxes either since they usually take 3-4 years between albums …. So ya, there’s still quite a list of bands it could be, but odds are good they were talking about AC
And I just keep going back to
- album is on DSPs
- some journalists have it
Really bodes well this is coming this year

I think he means digital streaming platforms, as in people found the songs tagged to AC when searching on apple music

Idk maybe I’ve just been hurt too many times but I don’t think of AC when I think “high profile”. My mind is going to much bigger bands in that context, especially with them laughing about it. something like the strokes or the cure

I don't think we're ever going to hear about Time Skiffs 2 again.

I find it absolutely insane that journalists receive an album before its even announced. Why? Also they're certainly talking about animal collective on that podcast. Discussing big indie releases this year and leave out AC?

Not to burst anyone's bubble but if that is their reaction to this album this thing must be fucking incredible

This is an industry-wide practice that was adopted after the mid 1980s, when a coked-out Stephen King kept announcing to magazines that he was producing a "real rock album" that brought back the "danger" and could "actually" kill you from rocking so hard, he got them to write up the announcements for three separate albums like this, and none of them actually existed. The press didn't mind not hearing these hypothetical albums because they would likely be terrible (possibly fatally so), but they didn't like being made the fool. And so now they say that they will only announce an album if they can hear it first.

if they're NOT talking about AC its entirely possible they're not aware that AC has an album in the can ready to go. given that they put an album out just a year and a half ago and before that it was a six year gap between LPs....

thanks, now i'm hooked on this Indiecast podcast. i've been looking for a podcast where a few folks talk about indie rock...this is exactly what i've been hoping to find. it's incredible.
i went back to listen to their best albums of 2021 episode and found a cool little tidbit. they received a copy of Wild Pink's A Billion Little Lights in July -- the album came out February 19.
they also made it sound like this was on the long-side (seems obvious) of lead times from getting a copy to release date.
just further reinforces my hope that if journalists had this in May, that at the latest this would come in November.

Someone received a postcard in the mail today from domino that just says "Isn't it Now?" in big letters. Safe to assume that's the name of the new album?

I would also imagine this means the announcement will be soon, like maybe Friday since the defeat vinyls arrived 2/3 days before the single announcement.

Album title with a question mark? That makes me unsettled. This has to mean announcement soon right?

if that's the title it's the first with 3 words (and only other) since MPP

Just did an Apple Music check. “Isn’t it now animal” yields a result for the band

i did that too, but Apple Music also came up with results that displayed it was "lyrics from the single Defeat", cause apparently they do that now on Apple Music.
either it is their album title/amping you up for an album announcement, or someone is major trolling this AC fan.

I like it if it's the title. I mean, that's the question we've been asking on a more or less daily basis for years on here. It'll sorta cement this album's seemingly, endlessly receding character, which I reckon will define a lot of how I remember these past two years.

As cool as this seems... I'm holding my breath. Kinda looks like a print out to me lol. If I see someone else post it I'll be less guarded

Isn’t it now? would be a great title in the fact that it has an element of time, which plays to time skiffs; it’s meta for how long these songs have gestated; and to me, it really captures the themes of existential dread from climate change and global issues that both this album and skiffs have had underlying themes of. Also operates as a call to action in a way, like how much longer can this go on.
