But I'm not huge on SJ in general. The album art is prob the worst they've ever come up with
Sorry thought this was the contrarian thread

I’ve been listening to animal collective obsessively for almost a decade now. I doubt I will love any band as thoroughly and as deeply as i do with these guys. Their music has changed my life in more ways than I can count, and I want you to keep that in mind when I pose this next question: what is the actual reason behind why panda Bear enunciates his words like that when he performs live?
Yeah no disrespect, his solo stuff is godly so whatever works for him. But I reckon MPP represents a sort of pinnacle for him for AC stuff. Imagine Daily Routine or Brosport levels of writing on PW or TS

Extreme agreement. AC seems like a less personal endeavour. Maybe that's a stupid comment but since MPP, his contributions have all been of an ilk, slightly goofy/wonky, still catchy but nothing I really connect to emotionally.
Don’t know what you’re all talking about. I bloody love New Town Burnout, Bagels, Car Keys etc. Let alone obvious classics like I Think I Can.
I hate to say it but Car Keys is lame. Imagine if he had brought Buoys level songs to the table for Skiffs. Like, imagine Crescendo or Inner Monologue with the full band. I can even hear Deakin harmonizing on I Know I Don’t Know.
I did like some of his PW songs, though. Spilling Guts, Bagels, Goalkeeper. Gnip Gnop is probably my favorite song from that era but I’m not sure who gets credit for that one. Sounds like a Panda song.

all my bitches cook grits
New Town Burnout and I Think I Can are sick yeah. Would like him to bring a 5+ minute song to an AC album again.
pretty easy rule for the PW stuff is that if it has the call-and-response vocal thing ("hocketing") it is a PB song and if it does not it's Avey. zero exceptions
I never really cared for Car Keys live and think it's one of the album's best tracks. Am I alone?
hmmmm yeah I see the argument but it feels to me more like a traditional vocal harmony rather than the bouncing each syllable back and forth
also I think I've been surprised by the ASMR outro to that song literally every single time I've heard it lol
if we’re talking noah’s best contributions, we have to talk about screens and tantrum barb
also gotta give credit for prester john! i always thought it was really cool that it’s a dave tune and a noah tune stitched together — each part is distinctly theirs, but they cohere so beautifully. i forget, were there any other songs from this era confirmed to be written the same way?
fuck Sunset should be a fucking Animnal collectice song.Thats one of the greatest songs he's ever written.
As far as Noah’s contributions to the band being weak, I don’t think it’s really him holding back. I remember a interview a while back asking about his song writing process for solo vs band and he said he doesn’t differentiate anymore
Sunset should be a fucking Animnal collectice song
