I think The Musical is like some of the "best" craziest, most complete, and thought thru, "mature" songrwiting from avey ever almost. just kinda crazy. so him but also its like doing all the things anyone could want a great song to do. whatever the fuck that means. its got it all baby.
and i mean all aspects of it but the lyrics and melodizing just rock. and then its maybe his "best" produced solo stuff on TOP of that? wow
(and of course Hey Bog is also perfect)

I fuggin love the back up vox he does during parts of the chorus of The Musical, where he does that singing that sounds kinda like the ending of Three Umbrellas (also similar to his Red Light Water Show register, i mean he uses a similar vibe a lot)
but its like thats the dude whose going on stage to be just like The Tenors singing that lill soulful yelp, its great.
also love "is the audience just like the trees/ or do you crave to be professional?" or how ever it goes.

As a huge, huge Slash Flicks fan, I absolutely adore The Musical and I'm so happy that he's able to pull off something akin to that again, but further progressed as well. The lyrics are just beyond immaculate, really cannot wait for this album and so hype for the show in NY

Main verse of hey bog sounds like I'm skittering across a lake through dark fog. Loving that song a lot.
The Musical hasn't really sunk in yet. Very dense lyrics and sonics, plus being a bit repetitive, makes my prevailing impression of it linger on the bass/piano loop. With that said, still enjoying it and keen for it to open up further

Guitar in the musical very reminiscent of this song Avey put on his CHz transmission

Interesting that there's like 2.5 little vibrating synth sounds at the start of The Musical that sound like they carry over from the previous track. Weird that they're on this side of the track cut because they don't seem organic to The Musical and the really abrupt move into The Musical comes right after.

Aw man, track cuts like that annoy me lol
The second track of Miss E... So Addictive starts with "-me that funk" because the "gim-" part of the line is on the previous track

The Musical is really good. I don't disagree with all the comparisons (BTQ, Slasher flicks, etc.) but I like this more than any of those.

me too. I have had them on repeat since they came out. I want to stop but i haven't quite decided when to quit, if it were a drug. Avey has outdone himself. Hey bog is just wonderful, cant get it out of my head. I just don't want to wear these two songs out before the record comes.
Domino did say it was on time, correct? No delay between digital and vinyl release, as it seems?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that it seems like the flip of the record will divide the transition of hey bog into sweeper's grin, or perhaps it was a word meant to be left unspoken. I'm not the best at reading these types of ethereal social constrictions

This occurred to me too, I forgot to post about it... I guess it remains to be seen what the start of sweepers grin sounds like, so hopefully the vinyl splitting the two isn't too bad

these songs sound so silky. I just reeeeeeally love all the sounds and the way theyre mixed.
Man from like 2011-2018ish i really didnt know if i always loved how the boys produced things, and kind of came to expect that'd id have to just accept certain things about the way their music was presented.
But now with Skiffs and these (and soooort of reset) its like. They know how to produce/mix fr

Lol how many albums have AC released that the vinyl version didn't disrupt the flow of in some way?
Edit: Hats off to them for the Merriweather sequencing, there are quite a few transitions but they're all placed on the same sides of the vinyl. I wonder if that was a deliberate move during mixing or just a happy accident.
Oh and Centipede Hz as well! Go, Ben Allen

this is exciting! also love how both reviews mention how the album has even more positive vibes than Time Skiffs, really looking forward to hearing it in full

Looks that way. There's an ffm link for "Invisible Darlings" but the release date currently matches the album release date. So I'm guessing it'll just be a video/visualizer they share on release day.

for some reason I was thinking the release was this Friday. shoot.
really stoked for this and for a true Avey solo tour. I've only seen him with others backing him up.

Avey posted a playlist of music that inspired him for 7s on Instagram. Including 80s Genesis of all things. Even more psyched for 7s now!

^cool. Nice and short. I'm so excited for this album. I was thinking it was coming out this week too, this is the excruciating part of the wait!
Edit: great playlist, I esp like the Herbie and Bill Holt tracks

Paul McCartney joint from the a DJ set they did ahead of CHz and a mix Avey dropped in December reminds me a lot of the Musical. Production and kind of loose, playful structure
Also hehe I remember an NPR interview circa MPP they did and the interviewer said In the Flowers reminded him of Peter Gabriel era genesis (he even played them a clip of a song). They politely were just like, "Yeah might be the piano." then towards the end of the interview they're like "we like Phil Collins".

Haha, I've got to watch that interview, as I really can't think of any early Genesis song that sounds like In The Flowers. I'm much more into the Peter Gabriel era, but some stuff from the 80s is still pretty cool.

the high school I went to has a really fucking good radio station and my cousin is a manager for it and he has access to the whole album. he said it was fine but he’s not really into their solo stuff so for his standards that’s good news.

Not craaaaaazy about it but it fits really well with The Musical IMO (and yes, quite a slashery vibe to both) so optimistic about the record as a whole
