Apologies if this has been posted before.
Anyone catch this?

Avey show in asheville dec 18. Billed as Gator Pools with 2 other musicians.

https://citizenvinyl.com/event/real-peo ... nch-party/

Since Sarah Louise is the first name listed, I would imagine the band is her songs and not Avey's. I believe she has opened for him before and he posted about her 2021 album when it was released. "gator pools" does sound like a very Avey name though so hopefully I'm wrong.

The show is a listening party for a local music compilation and "gator pools" have a song on it. So at the very least we should get to hear the song on the comp eventually

edit - looks like Ryan Oslance is really into gators (instagram is @alligayytor). also show is on the 16th, not 18th.
Spoiler: show

edit 2 - compilation song title is "Let's Get Swampy (Drop of Sun Jam)" - from discogs

Gator Pools formed during a two days of open play at Drop of Sun in Spring of 2022 between Asheville locals Avey Tare (of Animal Collective), Ryan Oslance (of Alleuchatistas) and Sarah Louise. Sharing the same musical space for the first time instantly spurred the synergy of visceral expression among this new trio as they bounced among extensive array of percussion, guitar, bass, keys, vocals, and real-time effects processing. “It was a gift to witness and record these friends channel and meld this primordial magic.”

Someone on reddit noticed this studio clip posted by Ryan Oslance on April 4. The only other reference to the group that I see is another post from Ryan on July 19 saying they decided on the band name.

I'm very ready for something new and unfamiliar. The name obviously evokes Down There imagery but seems it'll be quite different from the other musicians involved. I'll check out the Sarah Louise album now. Thanks.

Edit: Already sounds great, very organic and earthy electronic. Reminds me of KLF Chill Out in parts, shimmering synths and kind of steel guitar. I can't wait to hear this somehow melded with Dave's vocals.

I thought I saw a mic right in front of him... doesn't he start to speak into it near the end of the video?

"Let's Get Swampy" was played on Asheville FM yesterday. It was during the 'Joyful Noise' program but they messed up the archiving so you can actually find it under this show instead. 12/12 episode, at 1:55:25

edit - the song runs over into the next program for about 30 seconds (this show)

Just glad to hear something like this with Dave involved. AC has felt very 'straight' for a long time now so a little more unhinged vibe really scratches on an itch for me.

really into this, had no idea what it was going to sound like. groove is trancelike but still musical. soundscape is kind of new age-y but also just a really satisfying combination of instrumentation and effects. and both vocal performances feel evocative and earnest.
Big thumbs up from me and I agree stan

Thank you! First thing I noticed and brought a huge smile to my face.

Digging the Prince Rama vibes from this Gator Pools track.

Oh man it very much is my cup of tea. Sarah Louise's voice is so beautiful. Loving the loose, improvisational nature of this music. Hoping we get some studio recordings with the same energy.

I like a lot about the spirit of it, no particular tunes but I think there's a lot of promise here if the songwriting comes together. Sarah Louise works great with Dave in terms of vocal timbre and texture.

That was really fucking cool. I am extremely excited to hear Dave in this zone, very much my cup of tea too. Really like Dave and Sarah's voices together, and the percussion is pots and pans in all the right ways. Hope they continue with this project, and personally hope it remains a free improv kinda thing.
