Just getting to read the p4k review and there’s some wonderful bytes in there. Didn’t expect it to be written with so much care and respect!
Panda (and Avey, for that matter) really do physically accentuate all the syllables when they sing and it’s something I love. It comes through as such a passion for the sound and meaning behind every word. Gives all the lyrics an extra propulsion
wrote:
Reset’s generous spirit encompasses the Elephant 6 collective and Cornershop’s gleeful ripostes to the skeptical ’90s; the radical inclusivity of the Avalanches and Daft Punk…

More than the content of his words, we notice the way Lennox wraps his mouth around them—“You take a swig and then you take a crack,” he chatters on the chipper, even humorous “Edge of the Edge,” emphasizing crack to coax out its tactile vowel…
wrote:
Reset addresses our own troubled zeitgeist by avoiding the ambient dread, blithe critique, and seething anger that often characterize records we consider to be topical today. “One dude’s sweat/Is another’s balm,” Panda Bear sings on “Go On.” He may be condemning an exploitative capitalist system, but Lennox is also describing his music’s uplift and the hard labor required to make such a salve.

The second the verse to danger started I immediately knew God is real and alive and he is 2 different men

In these last few hours before the listen party, just wanted to say - SB/PK, thank you for encouraging such a comfy and intimate atmosphere in this thread. Between the short announcement-release window and how forthcoming you are with chatting and answering questions, it's been a really unique vibe compared to the rest of the AC's interactions with folks on this board (although their boundaries are course completely valid in their own right). Super grateful for the positive energy - now BRING ON THE RESET

Just turn the 8 sideways and the rating is Infinity.

Want to add to the chorus here and say excellent work Sonic. You and Noah knocked this thing into the stratosphere. I mean, the production has really surpassed my already high expectations. The way every sound has so much space and feels so direct at the same time... in some moments it's kind of stunning. So many little details that I immediately loved, like that high squiggly synth that first appears like 24 seconds into Whirlpool. Just great.

I'm getting kinda emotional about listening to this album. Person Pitch was a life changer for me as a 20 year old when it came out. Now I'm 36 and going into listening this new PB album feels like new a cycle starting or an old one ending. The fact that I can't figure which one it is, bugs the hell out of me. But I guess that's the human condition. Its probably both at the same time, every day. I hope I love it, but am honestly just super happy that SB and PB still have the passion to make music. That inspires me in many many ways.
Also, I saw AC play last night in SF and they completely blew me away. The transitions between songs were filled with so much energy and creativity and had that raw chaotic feeling which I love. Might be in the top 3 times I've seen them. Left the building with a different brain.

Wow hey congratulations to Pete and Noah for this, I’m blown away. It just absolutely confirms that Panda is one of the most unique voices working right now, and the past decade or two. Not just poetically but his sound, phrasing and inflection has no comparison. And it’s been captured so well, it proves Sonic is truly part man, part machine with his sound sculptures, tones & feeling.
I can’t make the listening party bc I’m about to start work in melbourne but big ups all round

Actually maybe Whirlpool is my favorite? It's just euphoric from start to finish.
