Walker is my favorite short jam on the album, that I could listen to on repeat all day

Time for this album to blossom!!!! Down down down down. It sounds as good as I remember and it's refreshed so maybe a bit better. So many individual instruments are so clear but so much is going on. They convey it so well.

I really do love Strung and Cherokee so much, they're both up there with some of their best songs imo.

yeah this whole album continues to grow steadily. super listenable and enjoyable, the many high notes haven't lost any luster after a listening break. just a ton of great ear candy.
I like Passerby, its quite different from the demo, but occupies a very unique and unsettled space on the album with it's major/minor key juxtapositions. still wouldn't have minded mixing the old melody in there like the second verse or something, but the repetition adds to the story in an interesting way.
in a weird way I have the most demoitis with Royal, which also changed quite a bit, but it balances out with it being sonic bliss on the album. I truly miss the old autotuned "this tiiiiiime, i can see, i can see...." line with the swelling cymbals though, that was just pure emotion

yup returning to it today and it's still magical. I like both versions of Passer-by in their own way but can't help but dream about a studio version of the original, but it's ok if it was improved a bit because We Go Back was elevated beyond what I could've even hoped for! that one is my most played at the moment, followed by Strung. also still don't know why Dragon Slayer wasn't a single, it's the most straightforwardly catchy pop song on here

This is the chicken Caesar salad of Animal Collective albums.
Everyones likes it because what's not to like? If you love it, maybe you should have a think about that.
I'm happy to wait.

Thinking about how much I love this album, you're right.

The 4 tiers of Time Skiffs:
S tier: Strung, Cherokee. Great tracks that stand with their best work, despite the energy and instrumentation being quite unique from anything else in their catalogue.
A tier: Prester, Royal. Very very good, just maybe missing something that puts it a step below the top. Prester definitely works better in a live setting (but then again I think most of these songs do)
B tier: Car Keys, Walker, Passer-by, WGB. Pretty alright!
F tier: Dragon Slayer. One of the best from the boots, but they whiffed it here. Oh well.

For real. It's like the only song on the album worth listening to.
Not sure why everyone is raving about Strung, either. It seems really out place and a totally different energy than the rest of the album. To each their own.

Would have been cool if they used this opportunity to try out acoustic arrangements of some Skiffs songs, similar to the KEXP wide eyed and pulleys, but this is still a v nice surprise. Kings Walk definitely the highlight.

Lolol I didn’t wanna say anything but you’re bringing it out of me. Seeing them all dressed like granola dads doing something as indulgent as kings walk on that horribly designed set is very awkward. No disrespect to the boys
Totally petty observation, but I miss the tshirt funny hat avey era. I don’t like whatever he’s got going on nowadays. Their music is so honest and down to earth, I want to see them wearing more basic or maybe more boyish outfits. They look like such pedestrians in that clip. But it really doesn’t matter lol

The YT comments taught me the term 'gorpcore'.
I'm probably gorpcore as fuck these days, look like a total nobhead, always ready for a revitalising hike.

I mean they are a bunch of granola dads at this point. Let's not forget how far they've come:

I like Strung AND DS, upper-mid tier under Cherokee. DS is epic and I made a whole comment about it but it must have not posted...
Also I like the way they dress JUST fine ty

wonder why it wouldn't fit. Cuz of prominent guitar? That links it to Royal to me and then the mood is similar to Walker and Cherokee. Its upbeat like WGB but I will say its vibe is a little removed from the crazy lounge psych prog of WGB maybe eh idk. The climax of SWE isn't that different than the crazy vocals of WGB, just super rich harmonies
I maintain that this is one of their darkest albums in a long time but it just happens to have really dynamic highs like Cherokee and end of SWE and then a chill jam like Walker. Everything else is stormy, psychic energy... dark-ish. its sick
edit: also a agree with the beLOW comment, like its still relatively breezy or something but there is a slightly bleaker or at least maybe serious undercurrent or sumn

This album is a chicken caesar served with a mojito, enjoyed on a sunny boat ride-breezy, partly cloudy skies. Since I fell in love with it walking around on sunny spring days this is a very warm and sunny album in my ears. Like MPP but from an older, wiser perspective perspective like looking at a vivid sunset over the ocean and letting go of some past regrets. I think each song is very distinct with one not standing out more than any other stands out, each serving their purpose. Strung is the main catharsis of it all and stands out in a similar way Purple Bottle stands out on Feels

ya the vocals are the best part of the tiny desk. probably why they recorded in that space in the first place given they did kings.
and I like how they dress lol. avey looks comfy and warm, makes me happy

Bro this is funny as fuck. They're literally in coats and shit because the gallery theyre recording at is like a big garage joint place apparently with no heating and it had just snowed like 10 inches that night

Geo has been the most consistently best-dressed for a long while now. The Hausu tee is a classic look. Avey a close second, though his highs are legendary. Bucket hat era, that promo pic with the flowers and the weird pink thing. Panda simply doesn't give a fuck about dressing himself. And he wore their own merch to the P4k Sung Tongs show so respect. Deakin can wear whatever he wants I guess

Anyway, not bad, but I gotta say, King’s Walk would be a lot better if it were half as long

Much as I do like kings walk, I can't really disagree with you here. definitely feels like it could be more concise, especially when you've got something like college to compare it to.

You're right, it is petty. It also sounds more about whatever is going on in your head and less to do with whatever they're doing. Lol xp

its twice as long as it feels like it should be bc they repeat the first section but instead this time with chord changes implied by the bass part. lean into the sparsity n length
