I just happened to stumble across this newly created Reverb page featuring a bunch of old AC gear. Did anyone else know about this?? I'd say the most prized pieces are the two SP-303 used to make Person Pitch. I'm almost tempted to shell out $650 for a piece of AC history...
Check it out all you gear heads!

Oooof had a 303 in the cart to buy waiting for the okay from the wife, as soon as I got confirmation, it sold, heartbreaking lol.

Edit to my original post, figured out how to see stuff that sold.
Extremely cool to have close up gear pics.

holy moly. would have killed for either the vocal300 or one of the SPs, if i wasn't broke I'd shill for the midi drum pad from the CHz era. i wonder if any of the samplers come with original sounds/whatever was left on them or if they've been wiped clean since.

Yes you buy the gear but then on the next full moon you’re up at 3 AM shoveling copious amounts of fruit into your mouth and writing lyrics about all the “good” things around you.

I wonder if the owner will try to make their own music with those presets

So cool.
Hope the band weren't hit too hard with the tour cancellation. Bit concerning they sold all this stuff but I guess it's fine, just practical

The dude who bought it is not sharing the presets.... lol. Gatekeeping what the band was willingly selling to fans. We could have something very cool from this sale, but nah, some guy thinks sharing presets that the band essentially gave to fans is against the ethos. What a prick

Totally. It's a real loss if they don't share.

yeah, to so confidently say that sharing them would be "100% against the ethos of the band" is a real radical assumption to make. it feels like the person is more bragging about their ~secret access to the original recipe~ than anything else. newly made account too; it'd be even more sketch/lame if it turns out they're a regular around those parts and decided to make a throwaway just to crowdsource help distinguishing what means what. people can be so weird.

Yup I think you nailed it lol. Fan service is a big part of this community. Sharing and spreading AC knowledge is one of my favorite parts of being a fan. What an ass

I'm curious did they use the Vocal 300 in studio or strictly live? Seems like a relatively cheap piece of equipment but real tweakable, #1 Avey sounds way different live than on the album

I kind of imagined that response as AC has always been super secretive about their process. But to be fair, if you have a general idea of what effects are, you can get in the ballpark with with just about any multi-FX pedal pretty easily. I could even give specifics on any vocal effect in a song if anyone's really curious.

That’s super disappointing honestly. I struggle to imagine why they wouldn’t want those presets to be shared/enjoyed by others. It’s just like designing an instrument or something. You already released the albums that they were relevant to anyway..
Maybe they want to keep the music mystical. But this stuff is only interesting to nerds who have already demystified music by their own inclination

So I used to own one of these things and it wasn't a very high fidelity type device. I think they just used these for live things. Geo used them to process sounds too, so it wasn't just used as a vocal thing.
I'd imagine that a sound engineer would have advised them to NOT use the Vocal 300 in studio. The thing was noisssssyyyy.

If anyone is curious this video where a guy runs through all the stock presets already gives you like a number of AC type sounds, wouldn't be hard to branch out from there. Not really worth losing sleep over the band not sharing the parameters.

You can see two vocal 300s in the studio they recorded MPP in here: https://www.soundonsound.com/people/ani ... t-pavilion
*edit* if you go to the third photo you can see 3 vocal 300s in the studio haha

But yea, bummer we wont get to see those parameters. Pretty massive oversight on ACs part. Surprised they care at this point because they definitely have juiced it for more than its worth and its unlikely they will be using it again. Im just tryna [MAN SPEAKING BACKWARDS] smh.

If I saw the sale earlier I would have 100% bought the thing and not know how to use it and end up accidentally deleting all of the stuff they left on there.

I'll dissent from the rest of y'all, I think it was a noble thing for that guy not to freebird the stuff. If it were I in his shoes, I'd probably be uploading snippets as we speak. So respect for the restraint. If that makes me a teacher's pet then I'm ok with that because animal collective is sexy

I agree BUT also cant figure out how parameters would even really like... expose much. I have the guitar pedal equivalent of this and like. Its fun as hell and you can combine a handful of like... 10 effects with some reverb and other basic things like balance and shit, what's the big deal. idk go 'head tho. love ac, love gear, love fan respect, love digitech

yeah i was gonna say vocal effect parameters seem pretty boring to share. like yeah skipping through that demo video every effect already sounds 80% of the way to mid-00s AC

I will say the details of the Lion in a Coma vocal processing would be... tantalizing.
