Very excited to catch the band at two dates in the next week at Mass MoCa on 3/11 ( :drugz: ) and the Paradise on 3/15. Anyone else going to these shows? What are you hoping to hear? I will be wearing my custom Tomboy print shirt, feel free to say what's up if you come across me there

I’ll be at MassMoca. I’m kinda shy but it’d be cool to put some faces to names. Wearing a black long sleeve shirt with something that looks like ultraman handling eggs. White guy with long hair crying tears of joy into a mask while Royal & Desire climaxes

I will be at both shows--one with my gf and the other with my wicked wild brother. See you all tonight! I will likely wear my yellow towel (terrycloth) shirt and a baseball cap. Massholes represent!

Any of you all live out in WMass?

wooooo, finally just pulled up. Gonna be wearing a flannel with my Sung Tongs shirt that got blasted with a bit of pen ink. My brother and I are smoking up listening to strawberry jam, feels so fucking surreal to get to this point after all the trials and tribulations of the modern era.

also NY reppin

I can't describe how amazing the show was, because that would be impossible, but man watching people open a pit during Chores was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I also nearly blew out my voice screaming "when there's no one watching" so I understand the energy. But very surreal.

Unbelievably excited and grateful I'll be able to see them again on Wednesday. Lyrical changes to Magicians are absolutely mind-blowing, though, and it had the best visuals imo. Easily settling itself as my absolute favorite AC song-- And I finally "get" Defeat--although it's gonna require a bajillion more listens til I can soak it in outside of a dazed, somewhat honored (?) trance. The song is just like, a memorial somehow.

Also I kind of did describe how amazing the show is, so there's some human condition for you

The crowd was spectacular, maybe the best I’ve ever been in. Turning around and seeing an absolute dance party break outt, the energy was contagious.

what a great show last night! some takeaways:
Spoiler: show
-Wow, a lot of the newer unreleased jams have an incredibly darker, more somber tone to them. I haven't been listening to any recent boots in order to get this kind of experience where the material was totally fresh to me. It only feels appropriate that they are writing more serious mature material to fit the times we are living in. Post-2020 Animal Collective is not the same band I saw back in the day. It seems Avey has become increasingly more of an activist in his lyrical content, but maybe this is just my interpretation.
-No More Running was AMAZING are you kidding me?!?! Loved this version so so much. The Strawberry Jam songs were a great blast of nostalgia that was much needed.
-The crowd was huge but also really respectful- to me it felt almost like I was at a modern Grateful Dead show or something lol. It was great to see how many younger folks were there going hard in the pit and singing all the lyrics to the older jams.
-The Time Skiffs songs are far superior live to the album versions. This is usually the case with their albums but yeah I have a newfound appreciation for those songs after seeing them live.
-So heartwarming to see Deakin killing it, he is really shining out there.
-Screens was such a pleasant surprise!! They NAILED it, I was so happy to have witnessed that as a long time ODDSAC fan.
-Driving home through the Berkshires in the thick fog was a beautiful way to end the night
Overall very pleased with that experience and I am so excited for night two on tuesday!

The show last night was electric; the crowd was dialed in and jumping; the boys looked a lil tired but they played their hearts out; Chores was the most explosive performance I had ever seen for that song; Defeat was obviously a transcendent experience, I wish I recorded it because it felt like there were some novel elements to it last night. I had a really powerful, albeit maybe high, insight that Defeat was a song that grapples with the fact that the world is ending. I feel like it’s a reoccurring theme in their music recently: “there’ll be lots of lonely mailboxes when language disappears.”

Coral, it was a pleasure meeting you. I’m sorry they didn’t play Gem and I.

i was singing a lil loud but this recording of purple bottle is awesome

you can hear someone from lrain comment to their singer after about 5 minutes "they don't even have the day off tomorrow and they're going hard as hell"

Nice to meet you too LeadHat, I need that squad pic we got at the end

I doubt the phone recording would have came out very good anyhow, Paradise sound was not superb. Not big into shows when the hi frequencies are blasting to the point that they sound distorted and overpower the rest of the mix. I think they should have played somewhere bigger like House of Blues like they did in 2013. The bois killed it though :metal

i do not understand why on god's green earth they would choose to play at the paradise - which is full stop the worst venue in boston between the sound quality, complete lack of cell service with no wifi to make up for it, and completely senseless layout with obstructed views and a poorly-placed bar that ensures approximately 10 people will be able to see the band playing - when they can and have sold out bigger venues like hob in the past. i was at that show in 2013 and it was such a better experience overall. i think if they ever play at the paradise again i'm not gonna go, that's how much that fucking venue sucks. no idea why it still exists and so many bands continue to book shows there

on a way more positive note, that may be the best i've seen the boys play in 10 years. it was my 3rd time seeing them on this tour and they seem to have really hit their stride (pun intended), the jams were absolutely insane and yes the crowd was loving it :D really hope we get a boot of that set because it was very special indeed.

I thought Paradise sound was far superior to the even the sound at the HOB 2009 show I saw--smaller venues are just better guys, c'mon. They didnt even sell out the Paradise show so there was no way they would play a bigger venue. I personally hope they keep playing small venues.
