1- Person Pitch
(A Day with the Homies and Crosswords would be here)
2- Greaper/ Tomboy/Mr. Noah (more familiar with greaper but i love more stuff off of tomboy)
4- Young Prayer and Self Titled (really love the second half of self titled, but it's a bit underbaked overall)
6- Buoys (some good stuff, some not)

1.Bouys — the best straight ‘songs’ to me — really unique production world.
2. PBVSGR — this era was HUGE for me as a young adult, really loved following the whole petek saga and all the live shows.
3. PP — it’s a classic and I understand it’s place in history, really good stuff.
4. Tomboy — apart from 3-4 songs from this era, i never really connected to the album or it’s live counterparts.
6. YP and S/T — cool shit, just not super super familiar with it, have no emotional connection to it.

forgot, Homies would be between Buoys and Tomboy even if its an EP. I just feel like Tomboy's mixing was kind of off and PVGR just didnt have super exciting melodies with a few exceptions. However his latest stuff is amazing so looking forward to whatever comes next

Everyone needs to listen to his s/t, it is the epitome of naïveté as beauty, some songs are obviously beyond the pale of silliness but it’s a deeply intimate work, some songs are among his best ever (on the farm, both Ohne Titels)

Yeah I really do, I know it's all on YouTube but I always put off listening to it. I usually download everything to my phone. Anyone know if there's a legal way to get the album in decent quality?

I feel like it's a joke that homies is considered an EP, lol. also if I could throw in Crosswords and Mr Noah they would be inbetween pp and reaper. everything is super close for the most part id say though, and besides homies being my favorite the rest tend to re order themselves often
never gave s/t a proper enough listen through though, so that ranking is super tentative I'd say

Really shows how strong his solo stuff is when there are so many different opinions about which album is the best. If it counted, PBvsGR ATP demo v6 would probably be my favorite overall and Homies would be near the top (it's basically a full release anyway)

Crazy to see the amount of variety in the ranking here. The only unsurprising thing being the PP is #1 on most of our lists.
Mine (full length LPs only):
1. Person Pitch (obvious all time classic etc etc)
2. PBVGR
3. Tomboy
4. Young Prayer
5. Buoys
6. Self
I am honestly baffled that GR seems to get a lot of criticism on here. I think it is absolutely spectacular.
Still remember my first listen - with a bunch of people from here actually. In the old chat room. I was in a library, my good headphones on, listening in synch with adjustyourinsides, bansheebeaten, chillwill, carrots and a bunch of those peeps (if anyone around still knows them). Just losing my mind.
Grim Reaper is sonic ecstasy people. A bloody technicolour wonderland. Get around it!

I wanna say that I love all of these. I think if Greaper was more like the demos it'd be an easy number 1.

If only the vocals were mixed a bit higher on some of the tracks, I think the reverb just kind of got old for me in that particular album *unlike Person Pitch, not sure if it was the mixing or what. Tropic of Cancer on the other hand is one of the more beautiful tracks of the album, same with Lonely Wanderer which I would even put in a top 5 or top 10 or my favourite Panda tracks. But anyway its good we all have different opinions if not the world would be boring!

I love all of them to be honest, though I'd only consider 1 and 2 'perfect'. I still enjoy Young Prayer a whole lot, it just has some tracks I tend to sort of forget about, whereas the others don't really have any. The self-titled has an aesthetically pleasing nostalgia to it that no other AC release *really* has for me, so it's special

Self titled was my favorite panda before Homies came out. I know the first side is a bit unassuming and naive but i found it extremely endearing and the second side is just amazing electronica. And its real sad

1. Tomboy: Love the melodies, the arrangements don't get as stale as I feel some of Panda's other compositions get, the mix is spacious but not too drowned out, and there's just a sense of urgency to the sound that I love. The lyrics also nicely ride the line of Panda's sometimes indecipherable surrealism and his emotionally vulnerable side.
2. Person Pitch: An unforgettable experience for sure, the highs are really high and the lows are really low, so much that it's almost too emotional of an album for me to throw on all the time. I also think some of the segues in the songs are cool but the loops sometimes become atonal/polyrhythmic for a moment in a way that's not super pleasant, but once the next song get settled in they're all beautiful.
3. Buoys: Vocoders/auto-tuned vocals have always been a big thing for me, so hearing Panda indulge in that along with acoustic guitar was like a merging of two things I've always loved. The mixing is a tad odd sometimes, but I like the atmosphere of each song and I think it's overall more sonically interesting that the albums lower on the list.
4. Homies: Either mix is good for me though I personally have my own mix of the early vinyl rip where the EQ has been matched to the digital release, but it's still slightly bass heavier. Love how thumping these songs are in general, and again, the grit factor is pretty high. He doesn't bring it as hard as he does in some of his live sets, but "Part of the Math" is Panda on aggro-mode and it's amazing.
5. PBVSGR: Some really fantastic and dancey production, especially along with the EPs of the time, but a lot of the songs linger for a little too long. Especially arrangement wise. Most songs just kind of stick to one idea for the entire time and don't add much as verses and choruses accumulate.
6. Young Prayer: Once again kind of playing off the idea that some of Panda's music is almost too emotional. I really appreciate what he was going for here, and I do miss this era of earnest, stripped back acoustic AC, but I just have never retained the melodies from this and I always have to go back and listen and remember that I find my response to it mostly mild.
7. Self-Titled: Definitely some cute and quaint recordings here, especially being a DIY and at home musician myself around that age. I think part of my lower ratings comes from that self-cringe of having been there and knowing what's to come. Just feel like some of the lyrics are very rudimentary and the overall mix obviously doesn't do it much service, but there are some great ideas here. His actual pairing of instrumentation is indicative of the great ear he has for pairing seemingly unrelated sounds.

1. A Day with the Homies / Buoys - Preferably the A Day with the Buoys fanmix. I absolutely love listening, singing, and dancing to these back to back. A+.
2. Person Pitch - I don't listen to these as much as some others, because the songs are a quite a bit to swallow. But when I/my body allows me, it's such a wonderful thing. A+
3. Crosswords - A steady piece. I never understood Jabberwocky really. The Preakness is one of the greatest songs there is. A
4. Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper - The album is a solid piece until Principe Real begins (and minus Come to Your Senses). After that, Acid Wash is the only thing that does something for me. B+
5. Tomboy - The first half is S, but the second half doesn't have the "drive" I kinda crave. B
6. Mr. Noah - C-
7. Young Prayer - #5 is the only one that really caught my ear. D

1) Person Pitch
2) Tomboy
3) Buoys
4) Panda Bear
5) PBvsGR (Got a lot to say about this one, but I'll spare y'all. Still good, but Trollboy gets why it can't be him.)
6) Young Prayer
I'm gonna slap some respect on OP and not rank EPs or anything but I LOVE Homies. He did something really unique with that release. In a similar vein, Swallow at the Hollow is something I revisit often. Both are such a departure from typical AC and an amazing breath of fresh air to me.
Bonfire, man.
Spoiled for choice.

1) Person Pitch: a perfect record, up there with the god tier ANCO releases
2) Grim Reaper: my daughter and I have a Mr.Noah obsession and I love the variety on this record
3) Tomboy: tails off slightly but still a great record with lots of stellar moments
4) Young Prayer: it's perfect for what it is, but in all honesty I don't play it as much as the top 3
5) Buoys: I like the fact he did something different but I need to be in the right mood for this record
6) Homies: the drums give me a bit of a headache, not keen on this one
7) S/T: tbh I have only listened to this a couple of times
