Round 3: the year where Merriweather crystallized. Gotta say I’m not as familiar with the Merriweather era of boots, but I know we’ve got some OG fans on here with some strong memories of this era so I’d love to know which is considered the king of this year. Went with 08 before 07 bc i just prefer years where the setlist is more fluid, and I was surprised to see how small this years boot haul was as well so the competition is narrower. Plus we’ve got glasslands as well which is another wonderful little one off.

Also could anyone post the full “setlist” for glasslands? I know Mr Fingers is the closer of the medley and that Walked Like a Dog is a fan name as well but do the other sections have fan names?

Gotta go Glasslands, but Lux Fragil is a very close second.

Relistening to Glasslands, the first couple minutes have some extreme, specific sonic similarities to the tangerine reef era. Specifically the echoey synth notes in Suspend the Time and the sample in Palythoa that sounds like when you would open a clay urn in Morrowind lol

Have to vote for Lux Fragil, it is probably my most listened to boot (along with Other Music) and that Fireworks is so good. "It's time now, to rewind the tapes"

honestly feel like it's unfair to group the one-of-a-kind shows like Glasslands (plus Noah's Ark in the other thread) with other boots for these polls, can't really compare them
Just wait until the 2018 poll. The entire sung tongs tour is gonna get bodied by music box lol

I had to go with Glasslands, being hammering it recently for some reason, not listened in years, and I absolutely love adore the atmosphere they create there. Lux Fragil is God tier in every respect, something I listened to hundreds of times before MPP came out and the Hove, as well. Two absolute GOAT contender boots. I've got to go Glasslands though because it's a total one off and I was only thinking this week, how fucking lucky are we that someone turned up and recorded it?

It's fun how all three "songs" (as opposed to the ambient slunds at the start) seem to build on the same guitar thing from the first song, which changes slightly every time. It sounds like it doubles in speed both times? Or maybe just between the last two songs.

Anyone ever notice these notes of Lux Fragil from the taper? Funny to read thinking about how it's become such a fan favorite around here.

Notes: Animal Collective at Lux, my first time seeing them. First of all, what a ridiculous excuse for a venue they played in. A dark, claustrophobic, bassy cave, with air conditioner from hell to detract you from enjoying the show, making you wish you were outside instead (and it was pouring that night). I had the AC unit right above my head, so this recording has an unusually high noise floor, easily masked by the *painfully loud* P.A. levels during the songs, courtesy of the sound tech for the evening, which I will refer to as "The Butcher". I forgot my earplugs for the evening, leaving me with a buzz in my ears for a couple of days after the show. The recording itself is awesome. This is a perfect example of the potential a audience recording has, if the crowd can STFU throughout the whole show. Everybody seemed to hate the show... to a portuguese crowd, it's all about "artist interaction", "abrigados", and portuguese flag-waving, while music is a simple accessory. I've enjoyed it, even though I was starting to get very uncomfortable at the end, thanks to "The Butcher". They also played one brand new song, adding bonus "awesome points" to the recording (track #4). Thanks to "guyanakoolai" at Dime for giving me the working title. Great stereo image, very nice sound quality, and a quiet crowd. I'm damn proud of this recording, considering the atrocious room where they played. I was clueless on most of the setlist, so I'd like to thank "thierryhenry" at ts.com, for helping filling in the gaps. "In Lux, the air conditioner doesn't blow... It sucks".
