Idk about this one, the "just a sec mooooore" section with the full band especially on the PW tour is absolutely transcendent

It's not a question of age, it's a question of the burden of experience and expectation. In his own words, Noah's intention for Tomboy was to make an album that was 'better than Person Pitch in every way', and that's exactly how it sounds.

It sounds like effort.

Person Pitch sounds like inspired expression, scattered thoughts and emotions. He wrote what he felt and had no idea of what it would become. There was nothing to 'compete' with, no prescribed concept. It's simple, quite messy, often abstract but it feels unfiltered and unprocessed. He said it himself at the time, he likes to get his ideas down and record them without being too fussy. And sure enough, that's how it sounds.

It's the nature of both success and existence that this circumstance is impossible to recreate or repeat. That's not a criticism of him or of the music which followed.

And then he releases Tomboy, starts writing trad arr structures and you have to pay a mortgage.

Lol spot-on. There is something special in youth that lights up for a few years, then fades, never to return. For all of us.

It ain’t necessarily so ....on either points my friends
Every perception in life is based on perspective . And if yours is valid , so must be mine and everyone else’s . Just imagine xp

I think some of us fall into the trap of believing in nostalgia's perfection. I know I certainly do. But then I hear new shit that blows my mind and get excited about right now. Like CHEB!

hey this CHEB stuff is sweet thanks for sharing!
