how would you take if AnCo abandon their live-formula (a long homogeneous trip where the leit motive it's the sound and the structure of the band in that particular era where the songs of the past are guest according to their compatibility) to embrace a classic big-rock live show in radiohead style with 2 hours of 30 minutes of all hits from all the album and new songs, acoustic moments, guitars moments, eletronic moments ecc.?

That would be terrible lol. If this is Noah going undercover to focus group new tour ideas, pls don't do this.

That was pretty much the post-CHz tour and it was uninspired for the most part. Minimal artistic merit but I only hope it paid plenty of bills and got their name out there a little more. No coincidence that this particular period and its aftermath were their least creatively satisfying. They're only now truly recovering from it, in my opinion.

honestly the show i saw that tour was my favorite of theirs i've been to, but as far as concerts go i'm the type that enjoys dancing around and singing along to my favorites rather than hearing new material debuted live, and would love a 4hr show lol. but i would agree it was prob the least inspired/creative. i think that tour was a bit of intentional fan service, i seem to remember interviews from that period where they said they understood that people wanted to hear like merriweather stuff and singles from other albums live rather than it always being new material and i think that tour was in response to that. i like the i idea of them alternating between tours where they debut a bunch of new material pre album release, and then play a greatest hits type tour post album release

I don't like the pw tour set at all for two reasons:
- i don't understand what the reason of having three guys in front joke whit eletronic stuff, seriously what were they doing most of the time? I feel like a it was a pin up pose.
- i don't understand why i have to listen an AnCo concert where the drummer it's not Panda

exactly this

that tour reminded me of spinal tap's stonehenge with the shitty upstaging-the-music set

and jeremy was drumming along with sampled beats?

I thought I was going to be kinda underwhelmed when I saw them in 2017 since I had already watched all of their live PW stuff on youtube at that point and knew what to expect, but... man it was still such a good show. The lighting/lasers, the sound, the boys trading smiles with eachother. It was a such good time. The fans in the crowd were the worst part, honestly.

Not even joking when I say this but at all three AnCo shows I've been to these things happened:
1. A hippie farted on me.
2. People clearly on psychedelics started doing weird Tai Chi moves next to me almost hitting me in the face several times.
3. A guy smugly announcing to all of his surrounding friends (who clearly aren't fans) the song titles of the songs being played. Usually during the transitions as the next song is being teased.

And also just general shitty crowd stuff. AC fans are mostly pretty cool but they also attract some strange walks of life. Seeing Primus live is the same way. So it goes.

I remember at Brooklyn steel these two guys wouldn't stop talking through the opener. Another concert-goer and I asked them a couple times to stop talking and they were total dicks. Then a guy collapsed in front of us and the guy who wouldn't stop talking helped him out but proceeded to be super obnoxious and self-congratulating about it.

Any time I've been to see AC or Panda, I've had to physically jostle, intimidate and frankly injure some younger people so that I could enjoy the show without their performative hijinks. I remember some kid was acting the giddy goat during the extended version of Pulleys so I jammed my thumb into a pressure point in his neck until his legs gave way. It sounds a little harsh written down on paper but if I tell you he just had one of those faces...you know what I mean? As his buddies were carrying his floppy body out, one of them was yelling, "He's a vegetable! He's a vegetable!" and while I barely registered the comment at the time, I've since wondered if that was somehow an influence for Part of the Math.

Of all the Paris show I attended, 2 panda 3 AC I never had a proble, everyone was so cool (tho the sung tungs one does not really count, we were sittig and all). People danced, jumped. In Brussel it was something else, no one was moving, people were acting weird, not a great show at all. Also the sound was bad, really bad.

yeah honestly the idea of AC recruiting a live drummer for their shows sounds awful to me on paper, just cuz their performances are like sacred. But I think Jeremy not only did an amazing job meshing with their performance style he actually added a lot to those shows, they had some really cool interplay between all of them especially later on in 2017 when they really started getting rly out there with the transitions and stuff. Major props to him for being able to keep up w them like that

could you imagine if we got zach hill instead of jeremy, like he mentioned wanting to do in that '08 interview? it would have been 2010 tobinge's dream come true but i don't think it would have worked nearly as well, jeremy's additions to the band need to go to the studio

I actually followed AC around for a week throughout the east coast with someone during the 2017 PW tour. I thought it was great. AC east also cool, coming out after every show I could remember to hang out with fans. Unfortunately the dude I went with turned out to be a bit whack so I stopped talking to him but that tour was one of the highlights in my music life.

Also will say I found college towns had some of the worst crowds. Perhaps they could attract people who aren't hardcore fans or people going cause it sounds hip but I remember in West Virginia I think it was, the crowd was odd and in Connecticut was the worst a lot of annoying college people but besides that it was great otherwise.

It is interesting to consider sort of how many additional formats will happen in the future and how many have already happened..!!

There have to have been at least thirty distinct and wonderful formats so far, especially when including all of the various duos they can form!

Well I think Panda was playing like OP-1, mostly bass stuff live white he and Avey switched between stuff on sequencers, while Avey and Geo played leads on those modulars? I think? no idea... but i always thought the boys up there pushing buttons did look cool. but mostly during the post-SJ and MPP tours... back with the boss/roland shit... i mean since that era i do think they've wanted it to have more the atmosphere of a dance show... but that just doesnt really translate as well with the newer material. definitely agree about the non-panda drummer. as great as Hyman was... i miss the weird sporadic triplets and accents that panda always knew to throw in..

Part of me KIND of wants Panda to switch out the octatrack... not that i dont love it, and im sure it was a big investment just for not using a computer on stage but.... he's been using them for a while now..

EDIT: Also speaking of bad concert behavior.... when I saw Panda at 9:30 last may... great, great show.. but everything felt so tense.. i mean i guess thats america now. but the worst part was... and i hate to be this guy. i love love and affection, but this couple was straight up making out like all up in my face.. had to back up "is that allowed" and like they're probably doing it to something like "nod to the folks" or whatever. does that one get you horny?
