Alongside Santos, Buoys also features collaborators in Chilean DJ/vocalist Lizz and Portuguese musician Dino D'Santiago, both artists who came to Lennox via Santos’ recent trap and reggaeton production work; the former contributes arrangements throughout the album including “Dolphin,” and both lend their vocals to “Inner Monologue."

There is really no feeling like checking in to CA and seeing the BOUYS post has jumped from 14 pages to 20 in a day.
Dolphin sounds like you just found yourself launched into the silence of space and Panda starts singing in your ear. His voice just seems to penetrate some kind of soundproof void. Like a beam coming out of the darkness. So sincere and up front on this song, even though it's pitched through the effects. Love how new and fresh it sounds. I saw it live, but have been avoiding the boots, so this is all sweetness to me.
Come on February...
It seems genius.com and CA don't have the lyrics quite right, what do you all think of this:
To the sea
to the end of the road
could it be
has it always been so, so quiet
I would always be
there when you needed
wanna give you a hand
gonna creep
gonna switch of the screen, unblinded
and I'll always find you
knelt down upon the knees
to the end
to the things that we see
clever bend
as a cat up a tree, so spry
in the space between
comparisons to you
to the edge of the cliff
us, the odd
us, the frustrated crowd, so vile
let it all define you
a clown among thieves
you think he'll tour next spring to support it? would love to see some more shows. only thing is i dont want him to sit out of the next AC record cycle. obviously i want my boy to do his own thing but tangerine reef left me unfulfilled in a lot of ways.
the domino news item said the australian shows are happening with more international touring to come, so definitely will be more shows. the spring would be my guess.
seems like he has always toured pretty regularly and been able to fit in time to work with the band on new material as well.
god damn this is so good. I mean like as a song, in terms of writing/melody/lyrics it hadn't stood out from the buoy tracks ive heard, and it almost still doesn't that much stand out except for being an amazing platform to deliver this incredibly sexy minimalism and production/mixing, which is like kind of subtly mind blowing in terms of the overall narrative of his incredibly nuanced and intentional production/mixing choices thru out the years.
hearing Buoy or that one song about "this Monday morning...." or or the one where he hits those incredibly high yoddle-y voices will be incredible, and I haven't even heard some of the tracks (bootlegs/live).
but ya this album seems like some kind of whole new level for him. like Homies EP is one of my fave things from him, or Sunset is at least, but this production is on a whole other elevated vibe. sounds fashionably forward thinking and not in a remotely cold or like disaffected way. stoked
Ths song feels very freee..very open and subtle in a way I didnt totally get seeing it live. I think I was pretty underwhelmed seeing him with the same visuals from pbvgr. Hope he tours w a new show soon
I've been abstaining from the boots for a while but I just decided to go back and listen to Cranked and Token and god DAMN this album is going to rule. I hope that the autotune isn't a consistent production choice throughout the whole album, but even if it is these songs are going to be so great.
Just pre-ordered the deluxe vinyl from an Oz retailer & it comes with a signed print of the painting Noah & his good buoy. Is this on offer anywhere else?
Hmmm... It says signed tho not by whom, could be postman for all I know
Song rules. Took me a good while and some heavy drinking to acclimatize to it. It's a huge left turn. I'm glad people are digging it and sort of confused some were so turned away from it. Basically a whole new AC sound. Really intruiged as to what the vocals on the rest of the record will sound like. Thinking it'll really ~go places~
Assuming the next AC record will be influenced by this we can expect Defeat and Prestor John et al sung chorally

Ah, but how many others would get their painting signed by the postman? That's special!
New single is quite excellent (the lullaby mention has me putting it in that sort of realm) and a lot more minimalist than I had anticipated after seeing it in May. Speaking of that show, there was one new joint that absolutely floored me and I'm waiting to rediscover it on the album. Feb can't come soon enough.
Can't wait for the new material and here's to hoping we get another xmas merriweather miracle!
