Tangerine Reef is a full-length audiovisual album by Animal Collective (Avey Tare, Deakin and Geologist) in collaboration with Coral Morphologic, to commemorate the 2018 International Year of the Reef, to be released Aug 17, 2018 on Domino. Tangerine Reef is a visual tone poem consisting of time-lapse and slow pans across surreal aquascapes of naturally fluorescent coral and cameos by alien-like reef creatures (note: no CGI or artificial enhancement was used in this film).
The full-length film will be released on August 17th on the band's website http://www.myanimalhome.net/#/. More info at: http://tangerinereef.myanimalhome.net

Very excited for this, I've never given the coral orgy bootlegs a proper listen but the little bits I have heard all seemed pretty impressive.

It looks like a vinyl preorder, hopefully there's a DVD or website for the visuals

my guess is it'll be studio recordings of the material they played at both, though I'm not sure why I think that

French site says 2 volumes. Does that just mean double lp in French? Or maybe they’re releasing both performances in a 4 lp box?? Hence the $53 deluxe edition on the Aussie page

You’d think That there would be more buildup and corresponding hype if this were a studio recording that was about to get released, right?

^That's a good point, I feel like this is prob just a live recording. But if it's a soundboard that's been properly mixed it should sound p good

do you think 2 lps might mean a ton of songs or will it be a DVD side or something? excited though!

There's a video of the Disruption Fest set that is 52 min long and I remember Coral Orgy being around an hour long too, so I'm guessing it's just 2 LPs to fit the full performance

Wishing to say, it may be possible that someone will either make a playlist or actual mix that adds either BOUY, once it is released, or both BOUY and A Day with the Homies, in between tracks where each song fits the best, for an optional new equivalent to a huge Animal Collective album....!!!!
Specifically with BOUY, it might feel like going to the surface of the ocean and floating there, then travelling back down, and up again, and so on!!

I am very curious if this is just both performances or studio recordings. I feel like it could be both as this is some real spacey material and it might need the space of two LPs. But who knows!

im hyped either way regardless if it's live or studio . as good as their studio work has always been, im a believer that the real magic is in their live performance. of all of their releases in the last couple years, i think that meeting of the waters takes the cake for me due to the stripped down and live nature of it. in that regard, kinda hoping that this is a live cut, but obviously with solid soundboard quality that trumps the boots that we already have.

also, where's all the hype at on here? I remember the days post MPP when just the sheer rumor of a rumor caused 50 pages of speculation.

I mean it's not 2009 anymore, AC isnt nearly as hyped now. I'm sure more ppl will be talking about this once we can actually hear it. I'm definitely hyped it's just there's not much to discuss yet

Hot take: Tangerine Reef will be a low-key, ODDSAC-esque release without major marketing buzz, and 2019/2020 will see the next “traditonal” LP that’ll feature tracks from Music Box Village.

The reefs are dying maaaan. The marketing will not/should not be low key

Not being negative at all here but the reports of both the Coral Orgy and the David Lynch show were more 'pretty cool and trippy' rather than 'wow this is absolutely amazing', as was the case after The Music Box. That makes me think it's more on a TTG level (and that level of ambition and intention) rather than a studio album, or even Oddsac. Obviously, there was a vast amount of work and forethought to both Oddsac and TTG but it's surely a different process and focus to a studio album.
