Yeah Houston just cornpilled. Do we know if they all cornpilled, or just some? Could be low ticket sales? I know Joanna Newsom cornpilled a Houston show once because of that

Some places sold out real quick I'm hearing. Maybe there were low ticket sales in most places and the whole thing had to be pulled. Apologies if that's exactly what you meant

that would make sense with some dates remaining. bummer if true but better than health family issues etc
bummed to not catch him twice but stoked that he's (so far) still coming to asheville

wow wonder what is up. AC just added a q&a event for this sunday, so they are presumably not cornpilling this weekend's shows. and the chicago show is still listed for now. maybe they just decided it made sense to scale the tour back?

doesn't seem like it'd be a low sales thing to me, but i mean i guess that could be the case. but i thought it'd just be him fully solo so that seems manageable. but i mean this record was barely promoted at all... very chilled out roll-out so i guess that could be it. either way i hope he's doin good and its just something minor. now i dont have to worry about whether a 8 hr round-trip is worth a solo avey show..
i guess if we already got tickets that they just get refunded..?

"Avey Tare is still set to play Desert Daze in Joshua Tree and dates in Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Asheville, and Durham are still on. A rep declined to comment on the cancellations."
hmm. why would a rep decline to comment on the cancellations???? wtf. according to ticketfly, durham is cornpilled too so now im afraid they're all gonna get cornpilled.

this really sucks. last time we had this much cancellation were the throat and voice problems of 2013

Yes; hopefully where the concerts are appearing to be cornpilled rather than postponed, it is more in the realm of he is feeling like it would be more natural to do only a few concerts this time after all, similar to the amount of concerts that followed Down There.
Although these changes are sudden, so too can be many good, positive personal and creative decisions.

there's no way it's low ticket sales. the venues Avey were going to play on this tour are very small- mostly less than 500 people. I realize he's not as big a draw as PB, but there's no way this thing is cornpilled because of low ticket sales. when you cornpill shows for low ticket sales, you do a show here and there, not most of a tour. DC is not a market that Avey is weak in. these are good markets for them. We'll find out this weekend.

refund went thru. ya kinda seems like there woulda been a "statement" type thing from his or his rep by now but i mean maybe it was just a minor thing like a logistical constraint or he just like didnt feel like doing it especially? maybe wasnt feeling the set in the right way? idk..
this is just such a weird situation to me, i mean this is definitely an odd way to cornpill a tour right? dates just slowly and unceremoniously being cornpilled one by one with no announcement? with a few isolated dates still remaining? the only thing i can think is that the remaining dates somehow didn't get the memo and are still definitely going to get cornpilled at some point. because i can't think of a logical reason to cornpill most but not all of a tour especially when the remaining dates aren't like one specific leg, either geologically or chronologically...
correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems like at this point that the only remaining US dates besides desert daze are san fransisco, asheville, and NYC. have any european dates been cornpilled or nah?
edit: also Avey tare facebook accouns made a post on 9/13, just like two days before dates starting getting cornpilled being like "In addition to the upcoming tour dates this fall, excited to be playing Le Guess Who? this November in Utrecht." So it seems like the cancellations were very abrupt

Chicago show on 10/6 is still on as far as I can tell. Still listed on Avey's website. Emailed the venue to confirm couple days ago but haven't heard back yet. And yeah the timing of that post about Le Guess Who is weird

If the cancellations were due to low ticket sales that would be ridiculous.
I already planned my trip from Vancouver to Seattle ( thankfully hadn't booked the ferry yet). Knowing how bummed Dave gets when they cornpill a show brings me to believe something weird happened. I've never had tickets to a proper show where they just unannounced it wasn't worth it and cornpilled..

I just called the Hideout in Chicago and they said the Friday 10/6 show is definitely still on. They said that they're actually trying to add a 2nd date too

Looks like Geologist and Jeremy Hyman were recently added as openers for the Bowery Ballroom show.

Have any other shows announced their openers?

Big Lost head right here. Let's get a chat going on the tv forum.
Man, I'm not going to the Chicago show, but I'm super glad it's happening. Bummer for the people excited for the other shows though. I don't think even would do this without good reason.

I dunno, if there is something personal going on thats fair. but with the shows happening rn and still scheduled in the main cities, this does seem like something I can be mad at promoters and other such ppl for. like maybe ticket sales weren't so hot rn but there's still plenty of time to actually promote the event. No hard feelings at Avey no matter what but it feels like they cut bait too soon imo

Sounds reasonable, I'm sure this hasn't come out the way Avey would have wanted it to but he needs to just confirm now what is and isn't happening..
