FUCK YES
We may, finally, find a way to give comfort to Jerome.

?: Avey, thanks so much for doing this AMA. I'm in love with the new album and frankly everything you've done. Can you finally solve the mystery of "Song for Jerome" for me? Can you either provide the lyrics or a better quality audio version of it? It's one of my favorite compositions by you and I've always been stuck listening to a low quality youtube concert version of it.
AV: I have a demo live version of that song and the others i did on that tour which sounds pretty good. i've been wanting to get it out there in some form it's just never been a priority. But maybe sometime soon ill let it see the light of day.

Yeah I remember him mentioning that demo recording at some point, maybe the AC AMA last year, really hope he releases it at some point. We just gotta keep bothering him about it ha
Also love how a lot of ppl asked "what's you're favorite x" and Avey's just like I don't pick favorites. Respect

He said he has loads of video of their early performances, and that some sort of release is likely in the future. Hype train departs now

Wondering what Eucalyptus songs he'll be bringing out on tour, Jackson 5 seems like the only one that would really match the vibe of the mothlight material.

LOL! That was my question, made this account to probe deeper, I was obsessed with asking it and luckily logged in right as he did the AMA.
Is there a better bootleg of this song that I haven't heard? I've wanted to know what the lyrics were for a while, but have been restricted to the shitty youtube versions. So far this is the best version i've heard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsSEol4rcfA
I became an AnCo fan right around Centipede, and Down There was an obsession for a while.I loved that album. Song for Jerome was an amazing discovery. Same with I'm Your Eagle Kisser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI9nq4wTzE0
Reminds me so much of schizoprenia-era Barrett
Edit: Drunk attempt at "Song for Jerome" lyrics. My problem has been that this song sounds so beautiful but i can't decipher what he's saying over the annoying crowd noise of the shitty boots. I had a friend in a coma and it resonated with me deeply at the time
Have you seen him
From the (edge? end?)
Cast your eyes on anything that you can stare
Did you say Oh No
Now his body aches
He's not movin (??) ?????
Still haven't found a way to give comfort to Jerome
No haven't found a way
to say he's not alone
Still haven't found a way to give comfort to Jerome
Oh I done seen the way his ??? is ????
(He changes these chorus lyrics from each version and they're indecipherable from live recordings)
Refrain:
Seen the ???
Can't see the fright on your face
And when the scales refuse to shine
I breathe in "UNO DOS TRES CUATRO"
Can you see him
Separate holes
I can't hear him moving
????
Oh what you say Jerome
Oh what you say Jerome
Oh what you say Jerome
Soul is heavy on the dome
(Chorus, but it's different)
Repeat of refrain only he screams "I breathe in ONE TWO THREE FOUR"
Post edit: He seemed to randomly change up the lyrics, I'm going off the Knitting Factory Boot Version

Unfortunately? lol. Avey was going to officially release the NYC taper recording. It is professionally done...far from a "shitty bootleg."
Head to the Live Discussion forum and click on All Known Live Recordings. Every recording of Avey from the 2011 tour has Jerome as the opener so you can try other versions.

Yeah I read that question in the AMA and I don't understand the hate for this recording or the chicago boot which I still listen to at least a couple times a year (I attended Chicago so its a special memento). I guess you just can't please everyone. I think it sounds great and its amazing we have such a good recordings from that era (or any era really).
I always get nervous posting my boots of shows because people are so picky with fidelity and one of my first ones was super bassy and got some mild hate for not being as clear in the mid. Not going to stop me though because I love the boots and I love documenting the shows I get to attend!

no hate on the boots! I live off them. I'm excited based on the assumption Avey has a Jerome recording from the mixer, which would be awesome and likely a little cleaner.

Hey any boot is better than no boot! Post away and don't listen to the haters. For every one person complaining about the sound, there are 10 more using them to soundtrack sun-drenched days at the beach and rainy hikes through the mountains.

I recorded the 2011 Chicago boot. It's no studio recording but it's as good as it gets for a non-soundboard recording. My boot plus the NYC stuff scratches the itch.

Thanks for that! It was a special night for me and I am so glad it got recorded. Are you going to the show at the Hideout in October? I just got tix yesterday!

Listening to the Chicago boot for the first time. It's great. I might even like it better than the NYC one. Thanks for recording!

I was also at that Chicago show, was a very special night. Got to meet Avey and Eric before the show. Also meet a bunch of CA peeps for the first time irl that night. Love that boot, was listening to it nonstop that year. Gonna be nabbing a ticket for this new Chicago show as soon as I can on Friday.
