I always thought Goldilocks Zone was a reference to the sonic the hedgehog games
and this is despite the fact that when you the 2015 - 2017 output, you start to notice a trend regarding the special, unique and magic recapturing releases (MotW, Sleep Cycle, Eucalyptis, Mothlight Boots) and the middling to bad ones (Painting With, PBVSGR, The Painters)
Some Ppl think cilantro tastes like soap. Some people aren't that crazy. Nadir was my whole lifestyle when he was playing it live and I kind of couldn't be happier with selfish gene so like IDK what to tell you. Those misc samples in it kinda make it for me. Little sonic details that couldn't be in the live one. But Ya like the live one is still amazing af. Can I picture a faces in the crowd that is more chill like he live version or a ctys that has the slow build up of vacuum ? Ya but an artists intention with a recorded track goes a long way for me. Dude didn't want a drumless build up for ctys and I respect that.. tho that might be my only complaint that is like that. When the artist is happy with something that goes a long way toward me feeling also content with it if that makes sense. U just get an overly intimate view of the process when u r a hxrdcxre fan who listens to boots u spoiled brats. ( <3 ). . Music criticism for the burger king generation

wow, finally a fresh take on things
I'm not exactly wrong though am I? even the academic "journalist" types see a pretty clear difference between stuff with and stuff without panda bear

???
I'm starting to think you're the real Father John Misty
kinda weird that a few very valid criticisms of Panda's most recently work are met with such vitriol, but you can go in the Avey thread, talk about Panda for 3 pages, and say inflammatory shit about Avey without anyone so much batting an eye...
all my bitches cook grits

i wanted to make a joke about this but i looked to see if he was on tour and his next venue is merriweather post pavilion and i got freaked out
Anyone else feel like sometimes the live shows sound better than the albums? or is it just me?

...this is literally what people have been discussing for the past page. Forumers love to be bootleg snobs it's like we get it u what's this song first to the point that u feel u have more ownership over a song than the artist does it's like leaving yelp reviews on a creative process. Not trying to shut down ppl making the argument just saying this is such a tired and banal criticism to level at this point and the band themselves have addressed it like been there done that

My sarcasm was apparently not obvious enough...
i wonder what kind of drum machine he used? probably whatever he had on tour with him? didn't think he used one live though (just that octotrack thing?) idk not too up on his current gear.
thoughts?
I'd like to put forward the notion that the biggest problem with Panda's recent output is that he's made the exact same song over and over again. Even just breaking down Painting With, Avey's tracks are better across the board. I get that people have opinions, but what I don't get is that the Avey thread can be 3 pages of Panda discussion followed by every criticism of Avey under the sun and no one gives a shit, but any negative thing about Panda is met with a dogpile of naysayers
I think a more accurate thing to say about Panda's PW era is that he uses a lot of the same musical features in the tracks: hocketing and fat synth bass are the most obvious ones. I won't walk anyone through why "Hocus Pocus", "Summing The Wretch" and "Natural Selection" are completely different musically.

Just think about it.

I had the same problem the first time, you have to make sure repeat is off
