at this critical juncture of the hype-cycle every single post is of utmost importance. posts that only contain an off-color joke about swamp-fucking are definitely given to being seen as a "derail" or digressive. at the very least we simply ask that all posts contain some gesture toward maintaining hype and topic-relevance. a simple "wow i can't wait for this" or "cover art looks great" will suffice, really. other options for hype-maintaining and topical posting include song-title-based speculation, reminiscing about former avey material (with a more serious tone than that of surrealist, off-color comedic riffs found above). or stating yr general hopes, ideas, dreams, goals and feelings toward/for/about the relevant LP. no like yr actually golden, if there is blame to be had for digressions such as the aforementioned one, it is the og digression initiator who can be seen as a judas or cassius-type figure in the grand scope of things when it comes to staying focused/hyped. but we're losing ground here by rubber-necking so let's try to get back on topic ASAP, thanks -mgmt

keep in mind: off-color non-sequiturs may be included in a post IF and only IF one also displays an expression of hype in a more traditional and strait-forward way that I think we will all find more palatable than the yucks or guffaws which a smaller percentage of us may or may not derive from said non-sequitur, with a 1:1 ratio of chuckle-inducing comedic riffs to topic-relevant hype expression being the minimally acceptable ratio and even this I would still express caution against except for rare cases which must be discerned and determined on a case-by-case.

it's not, you might have missed that bruh, someone got a message from AV himself on insta that save for Selection of a Place we "positively" haven't heard any of these. [earnest inquiries such as that are totally acceptable as relevant on-topic, non-derailing posting btw.]
thus the quagmire we find ourselves in regarding limited means for speculation. if that hadn't been cleared up there would be a lot more of: "so is it mothlight set or not? should i cave and listen to the demo?? i've only listened to it once". and so on. but alas, demoitis as a possibility seems to not even be on the table for this one.

Do you guys think this album will be more synth or guitar oriented? Down There had virtually no guitar save a few tracks so I'd be excited to hear some more louder psych Dave.

Probs guitar.
I'm guessing acoustic guitar will be the most prominent, or at least most identifiable. I'm interested to see how this will contrast to MotW, since one could definitely describe that release as electroaccoustic and those songs were probably written around the same time as Eucalyptus

yeah i'm convinced this isn't the mothlight stuff unfortunately, cause in addition to the message that that dude got from avey, there was also a guy who posted in the live subforum who followed the band on tour and talked to them after every show and avey said he's working on a new batch of solo material (fair to assume he meant the mothlight stuff and not an album that was recorded last year/premiering next month) and when the mothlight material debuted in march in copenhagen? (if i remember correctly) the press release blurb said it was 'brand new material written for this event' with abby.
so yeah, eucalyptus =/= mothlight material
hope i'm wrong tho!

I think this is a decent assumption. Although I'd love to hear more material similar to Man of Oil.
Also, Dave missed an opportunity to release this album under the name "Koala Bear."

Koalas aren't bears though
I like how this being posted at the top of the page just makes it look like a general PSA directed at everyone here

lot's of guitar on Slasher which was sweet and felt like I hadn't really heard that since like Feels almost (what I can think of on SJ seems like a lot of Deakin's but idk... infinite layers). But on DT the synths feel kind of whispy cuz they either seem like background, or else loopy oscillator type stuff like on Lucky 1. Like Hieroglyphic seems like the synth-iest thing since it has that super central-organ thing. but elsewhere the synths and guitars are like all really ghostly. fuck now I gotta re-listen to DT tho... so god damn good.
but ya I feel like this will have guitar in equal measure to Slasher, except like more chilled out and dreamier? both acoustic and electric. and like synths but kind of background-y synths. almost feel like there's almost gonna be a symphonic quality if only cuz of Eyvind and vocal-arrangement type things with Angel and the other lady. like psych-symphonic...
would honestly be all about not getting a single. getting it all at once would be awesome. this one seems as mysterious as DT did when it was announced out of the blue all of like a month before it happened (maybe take notes on that Panda!!). But we got Lucky 1 and then Oliver like a week before. but ya either way

just occurred to me the significance of this stuff never having been played live and now he's already on to new stuff. like that makes it sort of like PW stuff but almost even more like ODDSAC stuff, where it seems like they could really go to town with the studio knowing that none of it would ever have to be or would be expected to be played live necessarily... and ODDSAC song-y songs are some of my fucking favorite things they've done so that thought is cool. I bet he really went to town with stuff like arrangements and layering and utilizing the guests and just like going ham in the studio. shiiiiit. not implying they hold back when they do stuff that will be or has been played live before, but like there seems to be something unique about the ODDSAC songs to me in the way they seem disconnected from any live-ness, save for part of Mr. Fingers to the Glasslands thing I guess, but that clearly changed a lot, or was different when live, that once.
like Slasher rreally is a kind of garage-y record in that didn't they record a lot of it strait? and Chz was like almost garage-y? PW is cool cuz it's a studio product that they ended up being able to reproduce live so well.. ne way..

It's an older meme sir, but it checks out.
In all seriousness though, what would even be the benefit of smoking that?

I'd been on the Star Wars Battlefront sub all morning before reading this so this seriously threw me for a loop

if it's anything like the puzzle music we're in for a treat. i picture avey spending an afternoon digging into his kaliedoloop and writing some sweet tunes stream of conscious-like, then fine tuning them. not sure what else we could ask for. gonna be golden.

Agree 100 yeah this will be a trip. I love Eyvind Kane's story of Iceland, the way the themes sprawl and evolve so organic and lush. I'm seriously lying down waiting for this album can'tt
